Smile New and looking for ideas/support/motivation....... anything!

Hello Everyone!

I am new to 3fatchicks. I came across this website when looking for a weight loss support group. I have been reading through some other user posts and responses and everyone seems very welcoming and supportive. I am excited to become a part of this online community!

I am 26 years old. I was a three sport athlete in high school, however started gaining weight my when I put sports on the back burner to focus on nursing school. Since then, I have tried to lose weight by going on crazy diets or using a personal trainer. I have never been able to sustain those changes. I am now wanting to make a lifestyle change that I can stick with for life. Small sustainable behavior changes every week.

My problem is I know what I need to do to loose the weight ie what to eat, when to eat, exercise ect. but I just can't seem to do it. It is sooooo much easier to sit around on the couch and think about how wonderful losing weight would be, but when it comes to getting off of the couch I can't do it.

I am turning to 3fatchicks to get the extra push that I need to get off the couch and get going. Hopefully there is someone out there that has had a similar story as mine and can pass on some words of wisdom/encouragement for me. I look forward to hearing from all of you and hope that one day I will be able to be the person who is offereing the words of wisdom, instead of looking for them.

This was me, except I was 57 when I came to my senses. I heard about Metabolic Research Center from a friend and went for my free consultation in August of 2009. (there is a forum on here). Finally I had found a means and the determination, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, to change things, and I did. Went from size 24 to 12 in 5 months, felt great, and still walk about 15-20 miles a week. Too bad I didn't "come to" sooner than I did, but better late than never. So, just take that first step out your door and enjoy a long peaceful walk on a quiet fall day and get your head together. Maybe you can get a plan in place to change it forever. I know you can!

I am still working on it, but plan to be to my goal by Christmas of this year!

BLESSINGS! --Joy

Welcome!
That is the biggest problem when it comes to losing weight, getting the motivation to actually do it.
I had my baby in February and wanted to start losing that weight as soon as felt my body was up for it (I gained 50lbs during my pregnancy) But as the months went by, I found myself making excuses as to why I still have not started the diet. I kept telling myself I was too busy and I never would find the time to workout. After all, I was working full time and taking care of a baby. My mindset was pretty much fixed on never having time.
July came around and something told me to step on the scale. I had gained 10 lbs since my 6 week checkup back in April.
Something went off inside my head. I still remember that day. It was Wednesday July 14. That was the day I threw out all the junk food in my house. That was the day I started to workout. That was the day I DECIDED to change how my mindset was fixed upon.
Just remember, it's all about mind over matter.
Good luck on your weight loss journey!!
