Default Birth Control causing yeast infection?

Finishing up my first mont of Birth Control, and I am pretty sure I have a yeast infection. I'm wondering if Birth Control can cause them? I'm not really sure what else causes them, but I haven't been on antibiotics or anything...

Yes, antibiotics can cause this, but you can also catch it from someone else who has it -- so wash your hands and bathroom meticulously (especially your toilet & tub). Also eating too much sugar and stress can make it worse.

Couples can pass it back and forth to each other; but you can also get it from anyone you share a toilet/tub with (ie roommates, partners, and family members, even children).

Don't use other people's towels or face cloths; nor wear their clothes. Wash your undergarments & linen in warm or hot soapy water (if it won't harm them). I now have paper towels in my bathroom to dry my hands; and for guests, so they won't have to use my towels.

People with sensitive skin or those prone to skin and/or food allergies are more susceptible to it too. Some people with compromised immune systems may have trouble fighting yeast infections, like people with diabetes, for instance ...

You can get anti-fungal creams and/or a kit at the drug store for this; even the ones for babies are good for this (the Zinc one in the tin). With treatment and care, you can get rid of it -- but it may take a little while ...

I say yes BC can. Many, many years ago, I went on the Pill and had yeast infections constantly. My doc switched the brand and the infections decreased. I ended up stopping the Pill because of yeast infections. No problems after that.

Yes, BC can cause yeast infections. Call your doc. They can give a Difucan Rx to knock it out. Also, yogurt will help.

Yes, I've had them when I was on BCP (and haven't had one since I got off it). Insulin resistance can also be a culprit.

Get diagnosed by your doctor and if it is a yeast infection, ask if you can use the OTC test strips in the future so you can self-diagnose and treat. They may ask you to tell them if you're getting too many in a row, because it could be a sign that something else is wrong.
