Default Does anyone else LOVE running in HOT weather more?

Let me start this off by saying, since I've lost weight, I'm always cold. I looove hot weather in general whereas before, I looked forward to summer but was always miserable. Anyway, I had never done running for sport before this past winter. Throughout the winter and spring, I ran sporadically. Running is still very difficult for me, it always has been, but I'm learning to love it because of the feeling I get afterward . Anyway, during those runs, I would tell myself that although it's difficult for me to breathe, at least it's nice and cool, which I thought was HELPING me.

Well for the past few days it's been 100 degrees or above around here, with no end in sight, and running feels AMAZING! I can breathe so much better!! I don't get it?

Anyway, for me it's a little bit of a NSV because running has always been somewhat of a chore, at least getting myself psyched up to do it was, but today, after yesterdays run, I can't wait I want to go now, as it's already 92 outside, but I wanna wait until it gets over 100 lol! What's wrong with me??!?

So yeah, a little random but I'm genuinely curious about whether or not I'm the only one.

I actually agree with you. I'm weird and it's easier for me to breathe in hot weather than in cold. I just have to make sure to stay hydrated.

Unfortunately, no. I wish I could, but I get hives when I try to, so there's no use in even trying. :[ That also cuts out hottubs for me and saunas.

Running in cold is hard although I like when it is more around 60-70 degrees. Yesterday (it was around 95 degrees), we ran 2+ miles as part of our workout and it wasn't so bad in one direction but running in the other direction with sun blaring down, I really wish I had a hat on

my husband likes hot hot running.

I prefer it the colder the better although I am finding myself more immune to temperature either way.

If it is your breathing it may have to do with humidity in the air, some people dont breathe dry air well.

The humidity may be the issue! I hadn't thought of that. It is definitely humid here now, and most of the year I'd say it really is quite dry here, even in the spring. Today I felt like people/neighbors were looking at me as though I was insane. It really was very hot today. I was supposed to meet a girlfriend for a walk today but she said it would be crazy in this weather, and here I was running and loving it lol. Glad I'm not alone, though

Temperature doesn't really get me thinking either way. But I'll agree with the humidity.

I run so much easier when I'm in Mississippi than when I'm in Alaska. Dry air makes my asthma flare up like crazy. My lungs love the humidity and the altitude drop ;>

I can run so much longer down here, but my sister (who grew up in Alaska versus me growing up in the South) hates running down here. She says she can barely get the sludge air into her lungs.

I prefer warmer weather. I started doing c25k when it was about 80 degrees and it was a breeze. The next run it was a cooler evening like around 65-70 and my calves cramped up. Since then all my runs have been warmer and no issues with cramping, so I'm blaming the weather, lol

I've only been doing C25K for five weeks, so I don't have a lot of basis for comparison. However, there are a few things that I have noticed. We had a few days last week when the temp at 6 a.m. (my run time) was in the 50s, and I was stiff and achey and miserable. When the humidity is so high that I'm dripping wet, I breathe easier and feel more energetic. Yesterday morning it was 78 degrees with 84 percent humidity and it was my best run yet. I'm already dreading autumn/winter running because I suspect it's not going to be easy.

Gosh no! Yesterday I waited until 8 pm to run because it was over 100 and very humid. When I went out, it was about 90... I ended up having to do run walk intervals because I just felt like I couldn't breathe the air was so heavy.
I don't mind the heat as much as I used to but the humidity made it so much harder to breathe.

I definitely run better when it's cooler! I do have trouble breathing when its hot and humid!! All those years of smoking I think have caught up with me though

Dry heat is my favorite favorite favorite weather ever! Love it! I do wear a hat and sunscreen but I love it when I'm hot and sweaty....oh yes, it's a joy!

I live where its hot for 8+ months of the year. I breath better in the warmer, more humid weather and I feel like my lungs hurt to breath hard in the cold.

But, I struggle this time of year if I run during the heat of the day. I struggle with hydration. I could do one mile without something, but beyond that I feel I need hydration to make sure I stay healthy and don't overheat. And carrying water while running is my struggle. I have camelback backpack and fanny pack that I've tried and running just feels awkward with both.

For shorter runs I could carry a small bottle of water, but that also gets cumbersome. So, since I havent' figured that out yet, my running has been in the early morning hours before it gets too hot.
