  • I'm being a bit previous here I know but I am all fired up and in preparation mode.

I have decided to add an exercise tracker and to track the minutes of exercise I do as well as weight loss (theoretically). I was terrified when I saw how many minutes I need to accumulate. 30 mins a day, 5 days a week over 5 weeks!

So my pledge for the month is 10lbs and 750 minutes!

    Stef 224: 224: 214 and 0
Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck this month!
honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post
  • I pledge to do 45 mins a day 4 days a week. Plus an aerobics class which I used to attend but haven't ben in the right head for, for a few months I need motivation!!!!!!!
  • To be honest, at the moment any exercise other than normal walking is out for me as I'm waiting to see a consultant about having an op on my knee.

However I will pledge to lose 10lbs. Hopefully get to the target this month.
  • What about swimming Starbuck? The water will take the weight off your knee, unless the trouble is bending it, in which case swimming wouldn't be much use...
  • I hope you get seen soon Starbuck, knees are horrid things to get around without.

I'm going to rack my ex-aerobic instructor brain and try to think of something fun you could do without knees - that does not involve eating chocolate of course!

Haven't tried swimming since my knees got bad but It is the bending part that it really the problem.

I've been told to not to use stairs where I can, try to rest it where I can and no kneeling on it at all. The sound is awful whenever I bend it.
  • Starbuck, I've just finished my morning exercise and had a thought.

Do you have a resistance band or know someone who has?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Resistance-B...7708535&sr=8-3

These are cheap and will last you for ages (years).

You can use them to exercise all of your upper body, seated or standing. I used to teach using them in classes about 10 times a week, so I could easily talk you through some nice exercises. I could start a new thread with piccies and everything!

I wouldn't mind as I have just bought 2 rolls of the things for using in the classroom from September and I will need to brush up my explanations
  • Thanks Stef, I do have a resistance band that came with one of my Wii fit games. Can I use these http://s2.hubimg.com/u/1111773_f260.jpg?

It'd be great to have some exercises to do as I feel like a right slob not doing anything.

Even just normal walking around hurts, so it's not as if I can go and do a brisk walk for exercise.

Pic's and stuff would be amazing, I need all the help I can get.
  • Sorry, I didn't check your link Starbuck!

Those bands are perfect!! They give you the greatest range of exercises and are dead easy to use. I shall sit down and write up a routine and have a look for piccies.

Would it be OK to start a new post, so I can keep it all in one place (and not bore everyone cluttering up the monthly weigh in)??
  • I've done the first of my sessions today, I really had to make myself go but I did it, and actually did an hour in there instead of 45 mins ( plus the half hour walk to and from the gym ) ^___^ I'll set 45 mins as my minimum per session I think.
  • annoyed with myself because I had a chinese last night. It was hubby's birthday and he wanted one, but still regretting it.

    It was nice though
  • Starbuck, don't let regret spoil the taste - that was the last Chinese meal you'll have for at least a year!

Unless your hubby is like the Queen and has 2 birthdays a year!

There, bottom : foot : connected!
  • Well it is my birthday Sunday, so possibly more food blow outs oncoming
  • No chance a curly endive and lambs lettuce salad will suffice?

Don't panic, I'm off for my 21st wedding anniversay in a couple of weeks and I'm damned if I diet properly whilst we are celebrating it!

Mmmmm! Forgot about that when I set my target

    Ah well!
  • congrats on the 21 years together. It was my 10 year in April and I thought that was a long time!
