So I was cooking my kiddos grilled cheese for lunch while getting out my lunch items, mixed spring greens and baby leaf spinich for my salad. We don't have seeds or crutons (I don't use them frequently) and I was debating what to top my salad with. I had out the useual hardboiled egg, carrots and celey when it hit me... grilled cheese sandwhich.
I grilled up my own grilled cheese (using Sara Lee delightful wheat, 90cal for 2 slices), light margarine (1 Tbs 50 cals) and plain ol' Kraft American Singles (80 calories).
I mixed up the greens (30 cals), drizzled my dressing (we use Ranch, but I know theres a lot of other yummy low cal options) and cut the grilled cheese into cruton size pieces...oh yummmmm!! Next time I'm going to try adding a lil garlic salt to the grilled cheese to make it like garlic crutons.
So for anyone adding up, the calories, its 250 calories, plus whichever dressing you use. Not bad for a filling tasty new meal idea (well, maybe some of you do this, but new to me)!
