Default The Start of My Journey...

I started this thread to hold myself accountable, to track and share my weekly progress and emotions, to (hopefully) get encouragement and motivation from others, and to (hopefully) inspire others to try running!

When I was 25, I jogged for the first time in my life. I started walking, then running 1 lap nonstop, then 2 and so forth. I only ran 1 mile a day, 5 days a week, and it took me 2 weeks total to achieve that. I lost about 35 pounds in 2 months, going from 228 to 193! No dieting, just increased my water and shrunk my portions. I still ate whatever I wanted, just smaller amounts. Then I got pregnant with my first child. I haven't been below 200 since.

This morning, after I weighed in at 224, I hit the track for the first time in years. This go round with running, I remembered to take it S...L...O...W...L...Y and did not overdo it. I wanted to actually WANT to do it again the next day!

I walked for one-third/mile, slowly jogged for one-third/mile & walked the last one-third/mile. That was all I had to give to that track!! But I felt AMAZING afterward! I'll be hitting the track again tomorrow to do the same thing.

Also, I'll be incorporating 10-Minute Trainer into my workout plan. Not sure how or where to fit it in, but I'll give myself this week to get used to the track first.

Thanks for 'listening' and I'll post more after I complete my first week of this! BEFORE pics to come...

Wow, thanks for the support so far!!

I didn't get out this morning because it was already in the 80's by the time I was heading to the YMCA. I do the outdoor track, so the heat is a MAJOR factor for me. After I went to a graduation dinner party at my Mom's house, I decided to do my mile going around her block 3 times. I did the same thing, 1/3 mile walking, 1/3 mile jogging & 1/3 mile walking/jogging. I jogged a little more than yesterday because it started pouring down rain and I wanted to get back to the house FAST!

I feel AWESOME! I didn't think I could do it, because I ate more than I should have and drank a lot of water, so I felt rather bloated. But since I started this again, I want to fully commit to it. So I MADE myself do it. And it wasn't too hard!!

Yay me!!!!

Sidenote: I don't usually finish what I start, and after being a full time mom for the last 9 years, I finally feel like it's my time to do something amazing for myself. I need to feel proud of myself by accomplishing something big. And this fits the bill!

Thanks AFChick!

I just got home from my mile, same thing as the past two days, and find that's it's getting easier!

Worth noting: for the last several years, I felt stiff, rickety and sore when I got out of bed every morning. Everything ached and even stretching hurt! This morning was the first time in YEARS that I felt GREAT getting out of bed! Nothing ached, nothing felt stiff. I actually felt limber and loose and flexible! Just needed to move my body, I guess...
