Hi everyone I am new at forums for weight loss but I need some help. I want to lose weight but I seem to lose interest after about 3 weeks. I am no spring chicken and my body is really getting tired of this weight. I have been trying to exercise for about an hour a day. It feels great. I have been doing my favorite thing, dancing. And when I can't think of any moves I get out the step. So I put on my ipod and escape. I am very disorganized and I think that has a lot to do with it. My family and I have been through some rough times the last 7 years and my life has been pretty much out of control and my weight shows it. I am on facebook usually every day and wanted to ask them for accountability but no one is where I am. So as my name says I need help!!!!
I have a group on facebook it is called staying on track you can look it up :} My name is Ginger Rodriguez if you want to look me up. I would love to help any way I could so please keep in contact !!
You have to think of it as a change for the rest of your life AND do things you can stick to the rest of your life. If that means you need to make small changes over time- then that might be the best route for you. I know I started with cutting out junk food, then eating at home more, and eventually started working out, and so on. It took me a while but the changes have been a permanent part of my life.
Dancing is my favorite thing to do also. I'll throw on some music that makes me feel good and beautiful. I pick up some light weights and dance my butt off with the weights.
When it comes to workouts I have to have variety or like you I get bored. I've come too far to quit so I change it up.
I take Zumba classes twice a week. Each time it's different. I take kickboxing 1-2 times a week, the trainer never does the same thing.
I also work out with hubby once a week. He is a great motivator. I take Yoga 1 day a week to help with posture, stretching and overall stress relieving. I started with Yoga because I was so overweight my joints could not take the stress.
As you can see, a strict schedule does not work for me. It has to be fun.
Do what you love, enjoy yourself and you'll stick to it. Good luck!!!
Thanks everyone. I am glad i am not the only one who gets bored quickly. It is getting to be the 3 week mark and i feel the boredom coming. I still don't have this place figured out. I got Facebook down though and Ginger I can't find you. Don't know how to do personal messages yet. I will get on more so I can get the hang of it.
For me, I try to mix up my program because I get bored easily. I vary my exercise, which now includes dancing (I love dancing), running, walking, biking, and strength training.
However, I have found that varying my food isn't good for me. I am prone to binges when my eating gets too variable. So I mostly eat the same types and amounts of food every day.
It's funny you mentioned you were bored. I am bored too and my weight loss has stalled, but I have committed to making my exercise a little more difficult. I don't get winded by my workouts anymore and need more of a challenge. For me it helps to have fitness goals and weight loss goals. So even if the scale isn't moving, I know I am making progress.
Good luck and hang in there. Persistence is very important for this effort.

Are you losing interest in working out, or the diet in general? I wish I could dance, but alas, I can't. lol It sounds like you have a good outlet for workouts. Do you take walks? Do you use a pedomoter or a heart rate moniter? Using a tool like that and seeing how many steps you take, or how many calories your burning, will motivate you to keep going.
Changing up the menu and trying new kinds of foods helps me quite a bit. I HATE veggies (lol), but I've been trying and re-trying veggies prepared in different ways, trying to develop a taste for them. Its worked for some, not for others. lol
Hope you can push through the loss of interest and make it into week four!
I like to dance, ask my 15 and 17 year olds if I can really do it right. LOL They run from me. I always show them my new moves.
I don't know if it is boredom or I just can't focus on it. My life is a little crazy and I would like to at least focus on one thing. I have been trying for at least 10 years. Or I should say wanting to. I love to workout, I love the way I feel. I think I have found what I want to do, put on the headphones and move. I used Leslie Sansone last nite but beefed it up quite a bit and I check my heart rate 4 or 5 times to make sure it is up there. I know what to do, how to eat. Just have to apply it. Hard part. I notice if I think about it too much I just lose it. I get obsessed. I ain't writing anything down or marking the calendar this time. Where should I post to keep me accountable. Thanks everybody. I am listening to music right now and this guy is cracking me up.

Hi NeedHelp and
It seems like you know what you need to do, it's just a matter of finding some balance and long term success. You asked about where you should post. This would be my suggestion; peruse the different forums and start saying hello. If you are following a specific food plan, check in there. Age based groups are also helpful because you may relate to similar interests. Whatever you find, my advice would be to post every single day and start making friends. I post daily at South Beach because that's the food plan I'm following and I know there is great concern if I'm missing for one morning. I find that posting in the morning helps to start my day right.
I've been chugging along for 5 years now, and while it's been slow, every year I weigh less than the last. Some years it was only 5 or 10# but since I've started posting every day (for 1 year now) my losses have been greater.
I understand how it is when life is crazy, and I also understand that when I am more organized I do better staying on plan. I have had to tackle the organization just like the weight loss-one small step at a time. Life still whirls out of control around me, but I am learning to place my diet and exercise first. Somedays are better than others but I never give up.
