It's a misty Monday morning here, but I hope that isn't the case for everyone. I'm sipping my coffee and trying to get in a positive mood on this soggy day.
Come sit down for a bit before starting your day and share this coffee with me.
Good morning Cottage. Same weather arriving here though it's just overcast now. I really hope we get some rain. My many pea plants could use a drink
It's always nice to be back in my normal morning routine - pot of coffee made before I get up, 3FC, and pesty cats.
The week is starting off long and packed. I did manage to shift my early meeting today so I don't have to go in until 11, but then I'm working until 9. At least it's the gardening class so it will be fun. Tomorrow I' have a second injection in the morning and then meetings until 8 or 9 again. Once that's over it's back to my normal days though. Is it wrong that I'm already looking forward to PI on Saturday and Herricks Cove fest on Sunday??
It's going to be soggy here too. My weekend turned out pretty well except for an email fight with my mother. Once again I was not on plan (a Chinese buffet was involved) but I'll get back on as of this morning. Also, this week I've got to get back to the gym. AF is imminent (sigh).
Morning, Cottage, and thanks for sharing the coffee. I hope the rain clears off. Actually, you can send it here if you like as we are really dry.
Cyndi, there's not a darn thing wrong with looking forward to the weekend. It sounds like fun. We need rain badly and I've not yet connected the garden pump. No point planting seeds without water.
Slept until 5:20 this morning. What a blessing! My cough/cold/Black Death thing seems to be abating but I'm still coughing so will skip the gym again today.
Paul comes to finish up the door installations - which look great, by the way - and has other odds and ends to do for me. It's nice to have a guy who is not a husband do this stuff. He even has me add things to his list - those nitty gritty things like tightening the clothes line.
Tonight I go to a birthday dinner for an eleven year old and don't yet have a gift! I may have to consult with his mother or make a gift certificate unless I get inspired fast. Any suggestions? Girls are easier. I think I may be making a flying trip to Brockville later today.
On with the day! I can't believe we went through April with no snow!
ETA: Hi, Mmck. Sorry about the email fight. Tone of voice never comes through in emails. Aunt Flo never visits here anymore but I can sure relate to the Chinese food enemy. to a better week. gof
Cyndi, first thing I said this morning was "4 more days til the weekend", so you're not wrong to be thinking of your weekend already. Your workday doesn't sound too bad today, especially with the gardening class. Ugh, for having to work until 9 tonight, though. I should be home by 6 tonight since the girls don't have piano.
I hope the rain lets up later today, as we bought a new hosta to replace one that's missing in our perennial bed, and I want to get it planted when I get home. It's called Fortuna, and it has spear shaped leaves edged with bright yellow. Quite pretty!
Glad you're continuing to feel better, Ruth! Does the birthday boy have a Nintendo? A game for that is always a nice idea, but some of them can be costly, so you have to look around. I'm much better at shopping for girls.
Mmc, those Chinese buffets can be land mines! I hope you didn't do too much damage, though!

Morning, Linda! It was dreary when I got up today but the sun is out now. I'm hoping it holds on. We had a beautiful weekend and I'd love if the sun just decided to stay out for awhile!
Cyndi, enjoy your gardening class! Are you leading it or participating?
Mmckellen, I'm sorry you and your mom had a spat. Hope it gets resolved soon!
Ruth, I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Do you have a movie theater in town? You might be able to get movie passes as a gift for the young man. Sometimes they even have them in a pack with a movie pass and a free popcorn or something like that.
I am going to go for a run before Connor gets home from school, so I'd better get myself moving. I spent the morning catching the girls up on homeschool, which Tom elected not to do while I was away, and then tutoring for two hours. I still have to attack the third floor (which seems to also have been neglected for the duration of my trip...) but the kids don't have any after-school activities today, so I should be able to get to that this afternoon. I might even "let" them help! How's that for putting a positive spin on it?
I'm back in Maine, and running late. I got home a few minutes before midnight but slept well for the first time in a week. I stayed for a meeting with the hospice nurse last night and it's a relief to have that over with. My dad is still not comfortable with a home health nurse but my mom is overwhelmed and I had to come back to work this week. I'm meeting with my principal this morning to arrange for some time off, but it's so hard to know what to do - things are so uncertain. My heart wants to just say, "I'll see ya when I see ya", but there's no way to know how long this is going to go on and I have responsibilities here. For now I'm just going to take Fridays off. I'll head to MA on Thursday nights and come home on Sunday nights. I'll adjust that when I need to.
I'm rushing this morning - I fixed a quick pan of crack slaw to take for lunch because there were no on plan leftovers in the fridge since I was gone all week. It smelled so good I had some for breakfast too. I'm sorry to rush in and make this all about me. I'll try to get back later for some personals. Have a great Monday friends.
Heidi I've been thinking about you all week. I hope hospice takes some of the pressure off your Mom. I've been finding the caretaker is really the person who needs the most caretaking with all this stuff. Remember that's you too and take a few minutes here and there for you. Hope all goes well with the principal.
Good morning chicks. I'm glad to be back but the trip was a lot of fun. I ate on plan for probably 90% of my meals. I only had one real big off-plan splurge - at at restaurant our last night that was pretty much fried everything. I know that I need to work on my mind... when do I need to feel guilt if I choose to go of plan for a treat, when do I need to just eat and enjoy and move on? Something to work on as I think about the long term of this.
To anyone looking for a little motivation, I can't even begin to tell you how much better it felt to put on my new, smaller swimsuits on this trip, thanks to SB, and not be walking around self conscious about myself for the whole trip. (Well, mostly not self conscious. I will probably always have body image issues.)
Stayed up late, slept in....well you know the rest of the story. If I'm going to ride my bike into the 7am aerobics I'd better get rolling. Mom is here and an Alaskan friend will arrive later this afternoon for several days. I've got white beans in the pressure cooker for Linda's variation on the mock snack cake and chix thawing for cacciatorie...ok one day down...no indulgences here.
Morning All!!!
Beautiful Day yesterday and looks like a great day today.
Going out to the marsh to help plant rushes and some photography today. Can't wait!!!!
Thursday it's off to the outlet mall in Gulfport with Son's girlfriend and her friend and then Saturday, Jazz Fest. Life is good this week. I just LOVE ME some spring break!!!!!
Have a great day everyone!

Cottage - it's kinda misty and yucky here too, but the plants could really use the rain. I'm hoping it clears up later!
Cyndi - You have the best weekends! Hope it arrives quickly for you.
Ruth - Glad you're finally feeling better! My DS is only 7...but extending that up...something for Wii or DS, or whatever he plays? We were thrilled to get gifts that didn't involve electronics though, the kids are a bit addicted. We did have a Wii free weekend though (they lost priviledges).
MMCK - sounds like it's going to be a tough week....check in here often!! My mom and I have a very delicate relationship, so I know that can be tough.
Kara- glad you made it home safely! Is the pregnancy going well? I'm hoping your first trimester was easy, since you spent part of it not getting home. Congratulations to you! Three kids, pregnant, and still managing to clean the house....I'm impressed....
Heidi - wow. Make sure you're taking time for yourself...even if it's a hot bath with lots of bath and body works!! My dad should be at a care facility, but mom's too stubborn (and it's too expensive). I respect that you still visit here and are still OP with so much going on. ANd thanks for the crack slaw idea!! Might have that for lunch too.
Karen - Welcome back from vacation! I'm probably going to have some fried seafood too this weekend, as we travel south for a short trip. Yep, plan it, then back to normal!
Me - they just called me and told me my only surgery cancelled...OH DARNED!! Guess I can paint our bedroom now!! (call the chiropractor....) We planning on leaving Thursday after work to head down to the inlaws (and therefore the fried seafood!), so I need to make sure everything is ready for that too.
I NEED to get rid of my kid's treats !! I plan on giving it away today...
Cat and Debbie - I took too long to post this. Good morning!
Ruth- glad to hear that you are starting to feel better.
Kara- You have so much energy love it.
Karen- We finally decided on a college- he is going to go to Greenville College in Greenville, IL. It is 29 miles away and he will be on the Track team there. It is a Christian college, I think he will do well there.
to everyone else.
This was a rainy weekend the garage sale was pretty much a bust but since I already organized everything in the garage we are going to do again this weekend since my neighbor is doing as well. On day 9 of Phase 1 and doing well. AF has arrived as well. I can tell I am getting control over my mind again because I am starting to crave fruit instead of bread again.
So I got the graduation invitations out last night and started addressing them, now I just have to put pictures in some, the party invite in some and I am ready to go.
