Has anyone else reached a certain point in weight loss and had a huge increase in energy? It seems to have hit me pretty suddenly around 215 pounds. I am not tired and sluggish all the time like I used to be. It feels pretty good!

Oh yes.

But I was really fortunate. If I recall correctly I had a surge of energy immediately - I got rid of the empty carbs and the sugar from day one, which always left me in a carb coma and a sugar stupor.

And I guess, again, having a hard time remembering exactly when, it only got better from there on in. Being lighter felt - well lighter! I was able to move better.

I used to yawn all the time, now barely ever and the only time that I do - sure enough it's when I've eaten poorly.

I've mentioned this many times, I'm not certain how I lived without all this added energy for so many years. My productivity level AMAZES me. I am constantly on the move, always zipping around.

This is wonderful! I have spurts of more energy since losing this weight.

I can definitely feel the difference in my body-- how tight and athletic it feels-- but I'm still kinda lazy. I remember being lazy before I got fat. I think there may be a connection there.

When I quit sugar 2 years ago, there was a huge surge in my energy level. No more blah feeling, sluggish all the time, mentally foggy, and mid-afternoon sleepies. Recently I have found that regularly working out (vigorously) in the morning gives me an additional boost of energy. Getting enough sleep really helps, too. (I get 7 to 8 hours of very solid sleep almost every night.)

I noticed a huge increase in my energy level when I lost my first 20 pounds.
I also notice that energy increase when I am on the treadmill as I can walk so much faster. The really great thing about this is that the energy level increase continues the more weight you lose.
This is kinda funny: yesterday I had to pick up my dog Sophie who weighs about 22 pounds. I could hardly lift her to my lap. It really hit me that I had lost about the same amount of weight as she weighed. No wonder I have much more energy! (I need to put her on a diet as well!)

My energy levels have picked up steadily along the way, but the first big burst of higher energy, and the most recent one, both coincidentally happening when I started gardening last spring and this one, were so astonishingly pronounced that I found it kind of staggering. Last year, I was down about 100 lbs from my top known weight, and I was able to do more heavy work in the garden than I'd done in years. I was so pleased at how much I got done, and how much more comfortable I was while doing it; didn't get hot or tired nearly as fast, stronger, etc.

This year, though...the difference is even MORE vast. I've dug so many beds, lifted and stacked turf, spread so much mulch, moved and made new compost bins, lifted and cleaned and dragged stuff around, and I do this on top of everything else I have to do. I walk (briskly) practically everywhere, I go to the greengrocer almost every day, I bring home all my shopping in tote bags, I do heavy housework, I cook, I am almost constantly in motion, and I'm not really tired until evening, when I'm mostly done. I do take short internet breaks, and stop to eat during the day, and stuff, but it's not so much because I need a break, it's just something I'm doing to keep up. The closer I get to goal, the more energy I have. It's great!

Well, pregnancy exhaustion overshadows the energy boost of weight loss a bit, but compared to a pregnancy 50-60 pounds heavier I feel like a different person. Less pain, easier time caring for my older children, more desire to take care of myself... Very different, even though I haven't lost much weight.
