Default I don't know...

I am having issues with my food intake. like today I had:
2 eggwhite omlete with lean ham 100 calories
1 piece of wheat bread with couple of prays of the fat free butter 70 calories

snack
1 pickle 25 calories
1/2 cup raw cabbage
1 celery stalk

lunch
ham sandwich with light MW on whole wheat 270 calories
1oz of baked doritos 120 calories

Fat so far 11.5 grams

I don't know if I am on plan or not. I usually have a salad with ff italian dressing for lunch but I changed it up a little cause I am at a stall loosing.

Dinner will be low fat..like 4 grams vegtable beef soup homemade

no desserts, i only drink water or diet soda occasionally.

I feel like I have blown my diet from lunch. I feel sad and I want to throw up to just get it out now. OMG this is horrible. Did I do bad? I don't know what to do. Up my calories, or lower them. I am so confused.

Please help.

I wouldn't say you've blown your diet from having 390 calories at lunch. How many calories do you allow yourself per day? It looks reasonable to me. Throwing up food is, however, not reasonable, and is called bulimia. This is a serious eating disorder, and not something to dabble in to correct "mistakes". Go for a walk or something if you feel bad, but it seriously seems totally reasonable to me.

How many calories are you shooting for in a day? It sounds to me like your calories are quite low. For example, I eat about 1300 calories a day. Here is today's menu:

Breakfast: oatmeal with nuts, raisins and sugar, coffee with cream and sugar, 330 calories

Lunch: 1 cup lentil stew (homemade) broccoli, yogurt, 340 calories

Snack: apple, air popped pop corn, 180 cals

Dinner: spinach salad with chicken and cottage cheese, 300 cals.

Now, it looks like I eat a lot more than you do, and I'm still losing. I think the trouble is not your diet. You could maybe even eat a little more. Don't worry so much. Focus on you, on how you feel, be calm. Go for a walk, do a little more exercise (do you exercise? For me that's key.)

Take a deep breath. It's going to be ok. This is a life change and it's going to take time. You can do it.

How do you keep track of your cals...etc? I found the website at sparkpeople has really helped me keep my daily intake numbers where they are supposed to be. Cals, carbs, fats, protein, etc. It doesn't sound like you are off track to me. Calorie counting can be give and take, that's what I love about it! I never feel like I am stuck "just eating the same ol same ol".

I try to eat 1300-1500 a day. usually I dont make it. I am insulin resistant and PCOS so I have to really be strick in order to lose. I cant get into a routine yet of doing website calorie counting yet...Im trying.

Sorry if my answer was harsh. I used to work with women with eating disorders, so when I read something like that, it freaks me right out. You're doing great. Keep at it, and you have no choice but to succeed.

alicat..no, not at all. Thats the way we should be here. I know you were trying to help me not go in that direction. And to be honest sometimes I feel like its a fine line that could be like that. I personally would rather stay fat than have that. Its horrible for the people that go through it.
Thanks

I'm a little confused why your are panicing. Your lunch seems completely reasonable, wouldn't be my choices of food (you can get a lot more bang for your buck if you choose whole foods over processed dorritos, but if it works for you then great). If you're eating 1300-1500 cals then you've eaten about half your daily alotment so it looks like you might come up short at the end of the day depending on your dinner. I would highly suggest to you starting a food journal. It will really open your eyes to what a typical day looks like for you and you'll have a better gage of when you've gone off plan. As far as whether you should raise or lower you cals to beat the stall you're at, we'd need to know a lot more info. Like how long have you stalled, how much are you exercising, what do you typically eat? Anyway, I hope you feel better, don't panic this is a learning process for all of us.

I agree with the other posters. I think your lunch looked fine, calorie-wise. It is also important to remember that there is no one meal, day, or even week of unhealthy eating or high calories that got us to a heavier-than-healthy weight, so even if you *did* eat higher than you were aiming for lunch (I don't believe you did though) you can just get back right on track for dinner and move on.

I also suggest keeping a food journal, blog, or even just a tally on your fridge of calories/fat. Also, planning is key. I don't plan too far in advance but at least a day/meal in advance so I am never stuck.

Good luck oh and congrats on your weight loss so far! That's wonderful!
