Default Need a break or is it just laziness?

I have gone from zero exercise to doing something about everyday (usually a walk during work and later some running or video aerobics). Seems like I've been taking it a little easy the last two weeks but still doing something at least every other day. My office walkin' buddies asked me if I wanted to walk but I just REALLY didn't want to. I feel like I'd rather take a nap! I didn't exercise at all yesterday so I feel like I should have been all about it. I used the excuse that my body felt weak like I've overdone it or that I may be getting a cold (that sounded like a good excuse). So What is it? Does my body really need a break or am I just being lazy? How do I know when I really just need more rest.

Thanks ladies for being there to help when I need you!

Maybe you could try staggering your workouts? So you do a video or run one day, then walk the other? That way your muscles get a chance to recover but you are keeping the daily habit?

Are you getting enough rest? I say this since you say you would rather nap. If I am lacking in sleep I don't want to work out.

I really need a break and I take one actually two every week. One of them is just a leisurly walk but the other is a day with no exercise. If I don't I get tired and my work outs suffer. To me if I'm not exercising to my maximum intensity I feel like I'm not putting in my best effort. I can really tell when I'm running if it's almost time for a break. It's not always the same day, I try to be sure I take it when I really need it. If I have the energy and desire to give my work out my all then I go and usually by the end of the week I NEED a break. We really don't have to and shouldn't kill ourselves. This has to be enjoyable or we won't keep it up long term. Be kind to yourself.

I took it easy and felt a little better after a good night's sleep. I'm feeling yucky again today but I'm now wondering its maybe just the high in calorie lunch that I had...and the lack of exercise from the past two days? I don't know but I do plan to take the rest of the evening off, get lots of sleep tonight and get back to it in the morning.

As I'm here thinking about taking weekends off or Friday's off or the last time I had a full day off where I really did nothing, I've decided that I need to write out an actual planned schedule. One that works for me where I take time for rest. I'll write it big and post it on my frig! I'll let you know what I come up with.

Thanks!
