Default Hello - I'm New Here

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. My name is Kris and I live in Kansas City, MO. I have struggled with my weight for years - up, down, up, down, up, up, up....lol

I was doing pretty well, but have recently gained about 15 lbs. I got sick right after Christmas with severe bronchitis so was unable to do anything for about 4 weeks. I have a treadmill, which I hate - boring. I also have a Wii and the Wii fit, which I have been very lazy about using. For Christmas I got the EAS Sports Active game and it's still in the box. However, I did just get myself the Just Dance game and really like it. That's how I found this site, by searching for reviews of the Just Dance game. I have used it twice and although I'm a terrible dancer, it's fun. I don't feel like I'm working out, but it's definitely a work out.

I currently wear an 18/20 (snug again) - my goal size is to be a comfortable size 12/14 (or smaller ).

Looking forward to sharing success stories!

Kris

Default I'm new too!

Hi Kris,
Welcome!
I'm new here too! I just joined today and have never done any blogging before. My name is Carole and I live in Georgetown, MA. I've struggled with my weight for most of my life too. It goes down, comes back up, up and so on. I've tried so many different diets and programs to lose the weight but no matter what, it comes back. I don't eat a lot of junk but it doesn't seem to matter.

I've been thinking of getting the Wii and the Wii fit. I'm hoping that the change in routine might help me out. Maybe the new game you have will help you get a jump on a more interesting routine. I hate treadmills to - boring!

I'm going to be starting a new program (another one!) from Standard Process. It's a 21 day cleanse that's supposed to help detox your system and kick off weight loss. I'm hoping it works.

Good Luck on your journey to a healthy weight!
Carole

Thanks for the welcome. I am determined to get this weight off once and for all. I am 45 yrs old and was diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago. Last fall I was put on insulin 4 times a day and for those that know anything about diabetes I had an A1C of over 12, after 2 months on insulin it dropped to 9.5, but I still have a long way to go. I also have high cholesterol and had a pretty significant number on the heart attack risk assessment. I'm planning on the next round of test results being much better. My mother is almost 80 and has many significant health problems that are diabetes related. I don't want to follow in her footsteps in that regard.

Good luck to you on your journey as well.

Hi Kris, I love that you are honest about working out. We got the Wii fit last year for Christmas (2008) and my kids use it but I have not. I certainly think about doing it but just don't. That would be a lot of work. LOL!! After reading your post I have decided to start it. I actually like to dance and am going to check into that game. Thanks for getting me motivated to exercise. Good luck to you.

Thanks Cathy for the welcome. I do plan on coming back, 3FC is helping to keep me focused. I like that your goal weight is "healthy." That's really what mine is - a healthy weight.

Snoopy123, I have used the Wii Just Dance game three days in a row. Haven't yet today, but will before the day is over. I even did it twice one of the days - 30 minutes in the morning and 35 more that evening. I've lost 2 lbs since Thursday - not bad. I think another week (max) of the Just Dance game and then I'm gonna break out the Sports Active game my daughter and son-in-law got me for Christmas.

At least you have kids using your Wii. My kids are grown and gone so I have let this very expensive tool just sit here unused for a year and a half (I could have been at my goal long before now if I had used it). My kids have used it some, but not much and I've probably used it less than 20 times total. You should get up and join your kids - too often we sit and watch someone else having fun and for whatever reason we choose not to join in. You could be having fun and burning some calories at the same time.

Carole, good luck on the cleanse. Hopefully it will give you a good jumpstart on the weight loss. As for the Wii . . . do it . . . just be sure to use it once you get it - lol. And you could start out with the basic games and something like the Just Dance game if you don't have the money or don't want to spend the extra money on the Wii fit.

Good luck to everyone on their journey to health. I am so inspired by the stories I have read and continue to read here. We are not alone in our struggles.
