Default At a standstill and I feel awful!

Hey guys... I lost my first 12 pounds and felt great.

Then the travelling picked back up. My friends and I are on a tight budget and we find ourselves getting fried snacks at street vendors when on the go because it's cheap and fast. They're all skinny and I don't want to bum them out, but I don't want to starve either.

I gained two pounds last week, got back on plan, and now my weight hasn't budged. I'm terrified of creeping back up. This weight HAS to go.

I'm going to re-do my daily menu. I'm going to cut out my grilled mozzerella because I'm hungry within an hour, and replace it with chicken breast & veggies with a little mozzerella and marinara sauce.

I gave away all my cookies because I learned I can't have one. I'm keeping Special K Chocolate for treats and that's that.

I'm totally scared and discouraged, and I'm sorry for the rant, but I'm terrified of failing! Help!!

Calmly now Raichu!

You are doing all the right things.

Vacation weight defies a lot of the laws of normal weight gain (for me any way). Clean up your food, drink lots of nice water, go for a few nice relaxing walks. You'll start losing again very soon. You will!

Oh and take those bars with you when you go out with your friends.

Don't be afraid of failing! Fear can paralyze you. It might sound cheesy, but let that fear in, feel it, recognize it, and don't allow it to take control. Realize that nobody's perfect, and weight (especially for women) usually fluctuates within a 3-pound range because of water retention, etc.

Don't stress! Enjoy your travels. You don't want to look back on these fun times and think only of how much you were focused on your weight. Stay focused, but enjoy yourself. Good luck. You can do it! *hugs*

Raichu: you don't want to bum your friends out, but look at how horrible you've made yourself feel! you can't put yourself and your health first, it shouldn't bother your friends, they should want to support you! keep in mind that we all have set-backs and that DOESN'T mean you've failed! it just means you need to pick yourself up, dust off, and get back on the wagon. you're on the right track by rethinking your meal plan. just remember that too few calories can stall your weight loss as well. good luck, and don't give up!

I find that even skinny-minnies want to eat healthy a lot of times. Not all the time, but sometimes. Women are funny creatures...always trying to outdo everyone else with healthy eating. So you may just find you're in like company if you suggest getting something healthier.

You're doing a great job! I think you're at a temporary standstill only. This will pass and you'll be on the right path again in no time.

i felt extremely self-conscious when my friends were visiting me and i was packing my lunch when we were going to spend the day out

i felt extremely self-conscious when my friends asked me to go for lunch and i said "i'll just have a coffee, but i'll come be with you guys"

guess what? they didn't care. they even admired me a bit.

that's what friends are for

Keep in mind that they'll probably feel better eating something healthier, too! Just because they don't need to lose weight doesn't mean they feel great after eating greasy fried foods, or are healthy. Who knows - your suggestions to get something healthier could help set them on a track where they get into being healthy too!
