Unhappy It's time!

Hello All,

I'm new here and finally realized that it's time for some support. What brought me to this conclusion...
Monday at my yearly examine...I refused to look at the scale. I refused to be told what my weight was and when my Dr went to make her statement about my weight gain over the last year.....I SHUSHED HER

I know I have gained weight and no one needs to tell me that. I just need HELP with it.

I have always been on the heavy size for my height. But since I quit smoking, My weight is out of control.
It's so bad I have even thought about smoking again

I need help.
I am 5'2 and around 225-230...

Thanks for any support you can give me. I hope to learn this board quickly and looking forward to giving support as well as getting it.

Thanks,
ShellyL

Welcome Shelly! I am fairly new here, and find the site to be very helpful and supportive. Quitting smoking meant a big gain for me as well. I tried everything I could to keep my hands busy, I even took up knitting for a while. I only got as far as scarves I also found tea tree oil toothpicks helpful.

Best of luck!

Hi,
I just now joined this site as well. I'm also 5-2 and at my highest weight was 225-230. The 1st 10 came off over a years period due to some dental issues but I actually began actively dieting and exercising this past Oct and am down to 182. I would love to share support with each other.

s This is a great forum and you'll find a lot of personalities, a lot of different opinions, but most importantly - A LOT OF SUPPORT. We've all been there and that's what makes this place so great.

Good for you for stepping up to the challenge of changing your life. It won't be easy, but if you're confident and determined... the sky is the limit.

Hi Shelly!
Congrats on quitting smoking, that's such a major accomplishment even though it gave you problems with your weight - but you can be successful with that, too - you're evidently stronger than you give youself credit for - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on..

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
