We all like rewards and pats on the back. So how much weight do you lose between rewards? What do you reward yourself with? What is your goal weight reward besides the amazing feeling of accomplishment?
My rewards are clothes... I love shopping and have always had a problem for reasons I'm sure many of us know
However it's getting more and more exciting so I look forward to it and I really make myself work to earn the shopping trip (somewhere to Ross since the clothes won't last long, LOL... that's the goal at least)
A weird thing I do that feels like a reward to me is purposely wear a shirt or pair of pants that are too big, especially compared to how it used to fit.
At 10# pounds - I get a manicure, pedicure and $50 in my clothing fund
At 25# pounds - I get a manicure, pedicure, message and facial
I dont really like buying clothes at this size and even at smaller increments I hate buying clothes knowing that I wont fit into them long (well I hope not . So I plan on buying some great clothes at goal weight.
I have my mini goals in my signature, but I'll write them again
Starting weight: 183
- Mini goal 1: 173lbs, first 10lbs down. I didn't do much for this mini goal other than feel good about it.
- Mini goal 2: 164lbs, halfway to goal, this one I celebrated at 165 but I got some new clothes (TJ Maxx, I still expect to lose maybe one more size or two) and my first ever set of sexy lingerie at VS, haha.
-150lbs: the last time I remember this number, I was in 5th grade and about 4in shorter than I am now. I haven't decided what my treat will be. That's 15lbs away, so I'm sure I'll need some new clothes by then.
- 145: goal weight! Not sure what I'll do here either, but I'll sure be happy.
I set up my mini goals into four 25 lb increments.
For the 1st 25 lbs, a pair of TOMS shoes
for the 2nd 25 lbs, new MAC (or whatever kinds i choose at that time ) makeup
for the 3rd 25 lbs, new hair rollers (already have the set picked out!)
for the 4th 25 lbs, a new pair of jeans! hopefully from a "skinny" store!
I reward myself with things that will make me more likely to stay on plan.
In order increasing by price:
Songs from iTunes to listen to during workouts
Spices or gourmet low-cal ingredients to incorporate into menus
Workout tops and pants in fun, cute colors and cuts
Healthy foods cookbooks or health/fitness/light cooking magazine subscriptions
Cooking utensils and gadgets
Workout DVDs or games for the Wii
Workout shoes
Massage, scheduled for a day after a heavy lifting session
Exercise equipment (weight set, treadmill, Wii, etc).
The great thing about this is that sticking to your plan earns you things that make you even more likely to stick to and enjoy your plan...new music, outfits, or equipment to help re-energize your workouts, new ingredients, tools, and recipe ideas to keep your healthy meals from getting boring, etc. And those tools you get will carry you into maintenance...when you get there, you'll have a collection of gadgets, equipment, recipes, and other goodies that'll keep you going.
I reward myself every 20 pounds.
my first reward is a new Renaissance fair dress for the Ren fair this year. it's $140 but I'm thinking of waiting a bit longer after my 20 pounds before i buy it. because I don't want to buy such a expensive dress only to wear it once before it's too big for me to wear again and I have to buy it all over again in a smaller size.
for 40 pounds lost there is this awesome Halloween dress that I want. It's almost $200 and I have 10 months to lose the 27 pounds so *crossing fingers* I'm sure I'll make it.
at 60 pounds I'll be in Onederland and I'll allow myself to start shopping for my wedding dress. So that's a big motivator there!
I have seen everyone's mini-goals and I think it's a great idea.
My goals are
165 first 10 lbs gone, taking my industrial piercing out and getting my tragus pierced. (they're both on an ear guys )
160 15 lbs down, I could really use some new nikes!!
155 is supposed to be by my two year anniversary in the middle of march, so I'd love to buy a new sexy dress for a date night with my boyfriend.
and at the end, I'm rewarding myself with a REAL coach purse and definitely a shopping spree as I'll have next to nothing to wear. I'm really going to try not to buy new clothes inbetween sizes, but we'll see how long that holds out feeling frumpy at school
I didn't have rewards at the beginning, but I saw so many people with them I got inspired!
At the moment I have 'rewards' every 5lbs.
181 - I was supposed to do something, but I forgot
176 - Back rub from hubby
171 - First trip of the year to the beach!
166 - Back rub from hubby (these are my favorite)
161 - I wanted to do something big, but I think I'd rather save money... sooo I think I'll end up just getting new clothes (since I'll need them anyhow).
