where are you going for the holidays?

  • Is anyone travelling for the holidays? I'm flying home to Chicago in a couple days! I can't wait to go home, although I'm not looking forward to the crowded airports, delays, and packed flights. Plus nowadays everyone is sick - i'm bringing anti-viral kleenex on the plane with me b/c i can't handle people sneezing/coughing in such close quarters But other than the minor nuisances of acutally travelling, I'm looking forward to going home! Where is everyone else going if you are travelling anywhere?
  • Right now I am with my sister and her family in TN. My dh and I drove... it is about 13 hours and we were blessed to have missed the snow storm My parents have both passed away...so this is like being "home" for the holidays!
  • I'm not traveling but every year I'd take airborne before getting on the plane and wouldn't get sick- hubby wouldn't and he WOULD get sick. I believe it helped.
  • I'm another fan of airborne or emergen-c.

We are driving to my parents on Christmas Eve after work (about an hour or so away), having dinner/presents with them, then driving to LA after breakfast the next day. There we'll be seeing two sets of family, and driving back up on Monday.
  • I'm currently in the middle of the Anchorage airport partway through my 48ish hour trip down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. (Gone through a prop plane trip to a village on the road system, a 4 hour drive down the Steese Highway which is mostly gravel road complete with two windy snowy mountain passes, and flight from Fairbanks into Anchorage).

The free wifi at this airport is so weird. I can access this site and that's about it. Most of my normal sites (I call them my coffee sites as I check them while getting my coffee in the morning) are blocked including Gmail.

    I mean, seriously?

It's funny though, I have a hoodie on from my alma mater, University of Mississippi aka Ole Miss, and I've already had 5 people (in Fairbanks and Anchorage) ask me what I thought about the movie "The Blind Side". I've also had one "Hotty Toddy" (our school chant) yelled out at me in the airport from an Airman who was traveling home to Tupelo, MS.
  • i'm glad that i don't have to travel for the holidays but the stress of having everyone come to me is pretty big too!! we'll see how it goes!
