Hello everyone! I have been here for almost a month and I love all the support and encouragement here! You ladies are amazing! I haven't always had a weight problem. Through high school, I was always active and could eat whatever I wanted without having to worry about my weight. My weight was around 135 back then. Ah, those were the days! Then college came and I started gaining my sophomore year. I continued to put more weight on year after year. For a couple years until last year, my weight stayed around 175. I tried different plans and diets without any success. Last year, I started a new job which required me to be seated most of the day. I got married a month later and thought I could eat every dinner like my stick thin husband. It seemed like I woke up one morning and all of my clothes were way too tight. I got the surprise of my life when I went to a doctor's appt in July and saw my weight had jumped to 213...40 lbs in 8 months. I managed to keep my weight at 213 since July. I am sick of it now. I started counting calories and doing the C25k a few weeks ago. I am so thankful for this website. I feel like it will hold me accountable. Hopefully, this won't be another failed attempt at weight loss. I really feel like it will be different this time. Thanks for all of the support you offer! I look forward to this journey with you all!

Hi cabinwife! I am VERY new here, I feel the same way you do! I will be formally starting my new way of eating on 1/4/10 - it will be here before I know it. Hang in there! We can do this TOGETHER!
See ya Lighter!

You just gotta love the stick thin boyfriends and hubbies..... they have the power to make every woman fat! It certainly happened to me and many many of my friends!
cabinwife...you and I have similar stories. I was thin as a child and weighed about 120 pounds in high school. My weight came on gradually over the years...and here I am now ....needing to lose 100 pounds.....but we can all do this together!
Hi CabinWife!
Sounds like you're ready to go with a can-do attitude - no looking back, just moving forward -the support you need is here - you can do this - and we'll all be here to cheer you on!
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.
There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.
I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.
So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

GREAT words of encouragement for me Leeway!
I posted earlier that I was starting my plan on 1/4/10 - I have changed my mind. Why? because a wonderful 3FC member posted this reply to me...

I hope you don't postpone your journey every time something comes up...because life is full of surprises.
In the month you are waiting to start, you could be 10-15 (or more) pounds lighter. Why not start tomorrow or (next Monday if it is truly better to start your particular plan on a Monday for some reason). If you really want to enjoy the holidays, (2 days that are several weeks away yet), splurge a little on those 2 days and get right back to it. Losing weight is a lifestyle change...and I can tell you that without a doubt, that last year was the best Holiday season I ever had...EVER and I know it was because I felt GOOD about myself...because I was well on my way to getting healthy. I didn't need food to enjoy it. Sticking to a healthy diet does not take the "fun away" from an already wonderful time of year.
I found your starting weight interesting!!...222. I started out at 333, a whole 111 pounds heavier. That last 111 came on rather quickly, while I was "waiting" to start a plan.
Please reconsider starting now. In the words of another 3FC member: "Don't wait, your life is calling you!"
