Here it is! The challenge has started. Everyone is welcome! There are no specific rules. Post early and post often. The main purposes for this thread are support and to report progress. The goal of the challenge is for you as an individual to meet your "ultimate goal". I wish you the best on this journey and I will be here to support you along the way.
The "HALL OF FAME" will include the names of those individuals that have met a mini goal, a monthly goal, or an ultimate goal. This will be a dynamic list. The mini goals will remain until you meet your next one. The monthly goal will also stay until you meet the next one. When you meet your ultimate goal your name will remain on the Hall of Fame list.
Periodically there will be updates regarding pounds lost and non scale victories. When I need that information I will post to ask for the information.
Also, you should know that this isn't my original idea. An online friend started a thread almost exactly like this a long time ago, and she was the reason I didn't gain 50 lbs last year from emotional eating! Her name is Shay, and she is the brains in this operation!
Ultimately I want to lose at least 130lbs. I am going to start this out with monthly goals. They are:
For the month:
1. lose 5 lbs
2. avoid eating past the point of comfortable
3. 120 minutes of cardio each week
4. Drink 64 oz of water every day
5. check in here at least every other day!
Ultimately, I want to lose 20 more pounds. I find I am very content with 150.
My monthly goals:
1. Continue eating 5-6 very small meals a day. It gives me optimal energy and more self-esteem b/c I have control, but requires a lot of planning and saying no to people around me who insist I eat more.
2. Strength training for upper body.
3. Psychologically, I want to start to change my negative body image into something more positive. And really, what I want to focus on, is my mind - learning, creating. My problem with my weight takes a lot of time and energy.... I want some of that energy for other pursuits.
I have one BIG ultimate goal: to reach a very healthy weight so I can get pregnancy again and maybe avoid some of the big problems I encountered with my last pregnancy. Obviously, that's not going to happen in a month or two, since I weight over 280 and my healthy weight is around 120.
So my mini goal is to finish a half marathon in February. Between now and then, I hope to run/jog four days a week and take bellydance and yoga classes 2 days a week.
By December 31, I hope to be able to walk/jog 8 miles without feeling like passing out. I figure that's a great way to make some progress towards my mini goal and ultimate goal.
weekly goals
-- to weigh myself no more than twice a week (actually, I didn't reach this goal this week, but I was better about it)
-- to stick to my diet and exercise plans, no pooping out, and no extras (have done great with this)
New here...my ultimate weight goal is 135, but I'd like to lose at least 8 in December.
1) I'm dealing with early onset arthritis, so my first goal is to find an exercise program that doesn't hurt my knees, hands, feet and left arm (oy).
2) I blew Thanksgiving (for four days I forgot how to eat healthily)...so I want to at least eat sensibly during the holidays.
3) I've been off diet soda for two days...hopefully I can last the whole month. Trying to determine if aspartame is causing some of the inflammation problems.
4) Fight holiday depression. I HATE Christmas! I need to find a good mental place to help me get through it! I just keep telling myself "Lose the cynacism, chick!"
I'm still learning about this site, so maybe keeping up with the posts should be number 5!
Ultimate goal: 90 pounds
Goals this month.
To lose the 10.5 pounds I gained over thanksgiving.
To be under 240 pounds.
To not cheat at all this week. ( I would say no cheating at all this month but lets take it one week at a time lol )
No soda, bread, rice or pasta.
Water or unsweetened tea only.
This is great ladies! I'm excited to start this journey!
Encelia and Katmommy- welcome! I have a runner's training plan somewhere if you want it. I can look for the link.
I did well with water today, but I am just now eating dinner. It was a crazy day! And now that I'm trying to be better, I never noticed just how terrible the eating habits of my students are. It was horrible today!
Cool thread!
Ultimate Goal: 55 lbs from SW
Mini Goal: lose 3 more pounds (and finally have a normal BMI!)
Goals this month: to not gain weight when i go home for Christmas
My ultimate goal is way to weigh 150 pounds, which is about 95 lbs less than where I am now..Yikes! It seems so overwhelming.
My mini goal for this month is to get down to 235--because that's the weight I thought I was before I weighed myself a week or so ago (sigh). I think 10 lbs in a month is doable, especially since I'm only just beginning.
Another goal--not to get discouraged if the scale doesn't budge even though I'm working really hard.
ARGH! Today was so stressful and frustrating, and all I want to do is eat cookies! Thank goodness I don't have any and I'm too lazy to make some. I hope you all had a better day!!
BNB- your goal about not getting discouraged is so good! I might steal it.
I'm taking 77 teenagers to the symphony tomorrow- it's gotta be a better day!
Ultimate Goal is to be down to 135 lbs, which will be 65lbs less than I weighed when I started my diet last week. Mini Goal is to not be tempted by all of the yummy, gooey Christmas treats laying all over every available counter space at work (I work in a large family practice clinic-the patient's love us and ply us with goodies from Thanksgiving 'til Christmas!!!). Monthly Goals
-Lose 15 lbs by Christmas (I am 8.7lbs towards that goal already).
-Exercise a minimum of 5 times a week for at least 30 mins each time.
-Water, Water, Water!!!
