Lightbulb WOW...70lbs...that's a lot...

Hello. I have to lose 70lbs to reach my recommend weight (according to my doctor, and a little chart I have now come to hate). My thought on a regular basis is "Wow, that's a lot..." That thought has made starting my diet very difficult. I'm hoping to get some motivation, and support from this forum. Thank you!

Thanks again ,

Welcome!

My advice to you would be to check out the 'Goals' thread and see some of the AMAZING losses people have achieved of way more than 70lbs. Heck, check out Onederchic above me! She's lost twice that already. There's definitely plenty of inspiration to be had around these parts.

Hello and welcome! I am glad you are joining us.

I know 70 pounds sounds like a lot (I started with 75 to lose). The thing is, the number is never going to be less (and is likely to be higher) unless you doing something about it now. Losing weight will never be easier if you wait either.

I suggest making mini goals and focusing on each of them instead of the larger number. For example, make your first goal 10 pounds and then work to get to that goal and so on. It is a lot less overwhelming.

Also, as cliche as it may sound, take it one day at a time. Start now. Work hard on your weight loss each day, and before you know it, you will get some momentum, which helps a lot. Just decide that you will commit to weight loss and then be persistent.

Finally, I recommend selecting a weight loss program/plan that is something that you can live with for the long haul. If you do something that is to restrictive or offers you food choices that will ultimately bore you, then your chances of staying on track long term are diminished.

Best of luck to you. You can do it! Just think, of how good you will feel in a year if you start now!

Cheers,

J

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few weeks myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
