Default Anyone work with Hair? Looking for opinions?

I want to try something new and exciting with my hair. It's been the same brown color for 10 years. ( I must admit, I like my brown hair, just ready for something a little different ) I haven't dyed it, or hilighted it, or anything like that in those 10 years. My sister suggested I get some highlights for fall. What would go good with brown hair? It's kind of a medium color brown to begin with. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. I'll enclose a snapshot so you can see the actual color and face structer cause I know everyone looks different with different things done to their hair. So, what color would be good, or maybe just not do anything? Have you ever done something drastic to your hair and LOVED it? Just looking for some options. I'm ready for a change.

Thanks!!

Highlight it and cut it a little shorter. I have done everything with my hair , sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it, but it always grows so remember that if you do something you don't like.

What color highlights? Browns are usually winter colors so you don't want to do something like get blonde highlights- but maybe some burgandy/dark red highlights to compliment your dark brown hair would work

I have almost the same color brown hair as you do. I dyed it blonde and it was AWFUL! It came out this horrible cartoon orange. Luckily I was in college, so no one thought twice about it.

I agree that some caramel highlights would look lovely. Not too much contrast, just enough to give your hair some depth.

I don't work with hair, but my hair and skintone were a lot like yours when I was younger (before my hair went gray).

I never liked pale highlights on me, but a subtle golden highlighting or some lowlights (slightly darker than your natural colour) or the red or burgundy that others suggested looked nice on me. Any of that wouldn't be too drastic a change, since you are new to this, and then if you like it you can be more adventurous next time.

I also tried to go blonde when I was young (at-home kit) and ended up with carrot-coloured hair!

I went to a hair salon to get it fixed but they made me wait a few days and do heavy conditioning so dying it back wouldn't damage it - I wanted to go around with a bag on my head those few days.

I have an appointment next week to go SPICY! I can't wait! (And if I hate it, I can change it back. )
