Default PMS while on depo?

Ok I am really curious if any of you have every heard of still having PMS symptoms while on the depo shot?

I have been on it since january and even though I don't get cramps about 1 week per month I am suddenly just having a bad week for no particular reason, easily irritated, my bra bothers me, boobs sensitive, feel more bloated, etc.

I am going through this right now and I am curious if this is normal?

Have you spoken with your physician. I did depo for a while and I was moody no matter what. Yaz birth control helps me be less moody, but still I have a week of increased irritability (or maybe it's my life situations.
If I remember correctly, depo fakes your body out so it thinks you're going to have your period but you don't...So, the hormones are still there.....good luck

Yaz made me SO SICK. I ended up having a weird reaction to their synthetic estrogen and was in the hospital for three days from vomitting, dehydrated, ****! Doctors said it wasn't THAT uncommon either!

Anyway - I definitely had PMS symptoms and cramps while on depo, only the cramps weren't as bad and there was no "mess"

I am on depo now and I love it. I do not get any signs or symptoms of a period. No bloating, cramping, cravings, or PMSing. It works for me and is by far my favorite.

I bet you are going to get a lot of different responses. Just another testament to how differently everybody reacts to everything!

Yes, I have PMS with depo..it's not consistent though, not necessarily for one week every month, I just get crampy and moody every now and then...

Another question for those on depo- have you experienced any sexual side effects? I find that I have no desire while on depo, and I'm thinking of switching to the pill or some other form of contraceptive...any suggestions?

I only get it the week before my shot, it's part of what reminds me it's time for another one.

I've really had no true side effects with Depo, and I've been on and off of it for about 9 years. Well, I take that back. I get it in my arm and my entire arm aches for a day or two after the shot, but other than that I'm good.

I've been on depo twice for a year each - first go on depo was great but the second time was awful - and yes, I did completely lose interest in sex, gained 40 lbs and had a bad mood a lot of the time. :-( boooo...

The first switch I made was to YAZ and when it made me so sick, I refused to try any more pills. I've tried Trinessa and Ortho tri cyclen in the past and those always gave me morning sickness, headaches and mood swings -- my friend who's a doctor said it's likely the estrogen, and told me to try the mini pill, nuva ring or iud. The mini pill doesn't have great statistics against pregnancy, so between the nuva ring or an IUD, I'm saving up for the IUD and I want the Mirena one. Even though it has a hormone dosage in it, it's supposed to be substantially less, and I trust it more than just copper IUDs. For NOW we're just using condoms and Im taking lots of ibuprofen for the terrible monthly cramps. Unforunately my main reason for wanting birth control is really because of VERY VERY heavy periods - but the vomiting isn't worth it
