Question Ice cream every day?

So, I have a bit of a sweet tooth but I'm not the kind of person where eating sugar sets me up for insurmountable cravings for the rest of the day, as long as I have lots of other things in my diet (like today I had a delicious Amy's organic brown rice and veggie teriyaki stir fry bowl, so veggies and whole grains, but it was only 250 calories and I need some more calories).

I have a guilt complex about eating ice cream every day, because it's one of those foods that my mother liked to drill into me that once a week is okay as a treat but not every day.

I can fit it into my calories just fine, though. We're not talking about a hot fudge sundae, here, just 10% of my daily calories coming from frozen novelties.

Is it really that bad to eat ice cream every day? I find it impossible to completely avoid processed foods in my diet, even though I belong to a natural foods co-op in Vermont (heck, even that Amy's was processed). So is eating ice cream as my processed food really any worse than eating most other highly processed foods? Like eating a chicken breast from a factory farm where the meat has been hopped up on hormones, antibiotics, corn and soy.

What do you guys think?

I eat ice cream everyday. Yup - that's right. Everyday. And I love it.

I eat an ice cream fudge bar called Julies Organic Fudge Bars. They are 100 calories and AWESOME. https://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/s...ProductDisplay They have no coloring, no preservatives, no chemicals and milks has no *stuff* in it.

I eat ice cream everyday because it helps me be accountable. When the boy eats his french onion dip with chips...everyday...cause he can...I don't knowing that I will have my ice cream bar. It also teaches me that no food is off limits if enjoyed responsibly. (Just don't tell me that when it comes to chinese, haha)

I mean, I do try to keep a balanced diet...whole grains, lean meats, fat free milk, veggies and fruit ...and I prefer natural/organic foods and meats and milk with no added junk...

Anyway --- what I mean to say is...

Eat your ice cream when calories allow and ENJOY.

Seriously. Chinese food needs to come with a frickin' warning label...

*Warning* Yes, you will try and eat this entire plate in one sitting...and if you don't it will be eaten at 12:30am, out of the carton with a spoon while you lean against the open fridge door.

As long as you can control yourself, of course it's alright to eat ice cream everyday I eat 2-3 cookies everyday after dinner with my coffee.

I think if you are going to do ice cream, live it up! Get some really yummy organic ice cream or the bars like Taylor said. As long as it fits in your calorie intake, you should be fine. Even Jillian Michaels has chocolate everyday! Its organic too so its not as bad. I've worked my calories out so we can have either fro yo or 2 chocolate chip cookies. If you are going to have the calories available, make them delicious!

I think it's OK as long as you fit it in/ do OK with the portion control :-) actually ice cream is not really sugarier (is that a word? more sugary? ) than many yoghurts so i wouldn't feel bad about it. I ate frozen yoghurt every day for a while there and it didn't seem to hurt- plus i am sure you are overall eating much more healthily than before so i'm sure it cancels out! The summer won't last forever so go for it!

I say, as long as it's in your daily budget, then go for it. Dairy is good for you. I eat a Weight Watchers Orange & Cream or Raspberry & Cream bar most every night after dinner. Or a Sugar free Fudgesicle. It gives me something of "normal" eating to look forward to. But if I've blown my calories on a big dinner or a slice of b-day cake (like yesterday) then I don't have dessert.

I found the 100 calorie Klondike bars. As so far as I can read, there's nothing weirder than what's in a regular Klondike bar - they're just a smaller portion.

I'm not on the organic bandwagon, I do try and avoid heavily processed things, but that's more because of their sodium content and price. Its cheaper for me to buy turkey breast and veggies and steam them than get a lean cuisine, but it looks like there are some nice, non-processed ice creams out there.

I say if it fits into your calories there is NOTHING wrong with ice cream every day. I use it as my reward for eating healthy all day, and also if I have something 'sweet' after a meal, it signals to my brain that OKAY WE'RE DONE NOW and I'm not hungry.

Default I scream you scream!

Yes, I eat ice cream every day. I never ate it all that much before, but while losing weight, that little treat at the end of the day sometimes is what gets me through the day! I have a WW dessert. I like them because they're low cal, low fat, and most of all, they're portioned out for you.

It may not be the healthiest thing in the world to do, but if it helps in any way to prevent me from eating like I was before, it's healthier than I was before!

If I have more than one alcoholic drink though, I don't have room for the dessert, and so I don't have it. As long as it fits in with your plan...!

CHEATERS!!! i rarely go a whole day without eating something that im "not supposed to"...for me its what keeps me going...sometimes its a candy bar, sometimes its poptarts...once i got past that "all or nothing" mentality i learned that i could eat treats without going overboard and still average a solid pound a week...i think thats a huge step towards weight loss success in the real world...there are some things that i cant eat in good conscience...hostess pies.....bacon on a hamburger...have a great day everyone

This is a great topic because I too, eat ice cream everyday and actually felt a little guilty about it. Not anymore!

I eat ice cream almost everyday too. I try to choose a flavor that is lower in calories, but sometimes only the really sinful stuff will do. I finally found a line that is not only lower in calories, but doesn't taste low cal. Edy's brand, fully-loaded flavors. I'm loving the Java Chip and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup flavors. I think they are 150 calories per serving and so worth it.

I have a pint of starbucks caramel macchiato ice cream in my freezer right now. After dinner I take a teaspoon and have a few teaspoons. And then I put it away.

If I ever find myself not able to put it away, it goes in the trash. But right now I can so I will.
