Default 300+ Weekly Thread #1220

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I'm still around but busy with the move. We closed on the house on Friday and will be leaving in a week. I've already worked out this morning. So off to a good start just enjoying coffee right now as kids watch some cartoons. Then back to cleaning and packing for me. I did have a 2lb gain this week but I'm not gonna let it get me off track I'm staying OP.

Hey chickies,

First off,

Cyn- Good luck with your tests! I'm sending positive thoughts your way

I have been MIA for a bit. My finace finally came home (working out of town 3 weeks home for a week), my sister is still visiting from China (leaves on Friday)...busy, busy, busy lol.

My weekend was AMAZING! My sister and I went to Grand Forks, ND for some cross border shopping. Some good deals. BUT the plus was my behaviour changes!!! I stayed within my points by buying blueberries and rainier cherries for our snack, and went to subway for supper (loaded with veggies).

Then the next day we went for Dim Sum. Usually Dim Sum kills my points for the day PLUS ALL of my flex points! I opted for the steamed pork dumplings (3 varieties), only 2 fried things in which I only had 1 of each! I felt soooo good after that PLUS our bill was $10 less than usual lol.

Hopefully tonight will be nice and I will take the pugs for their walk at the park. I think we all need a good walk!

I'm so excited about weigh-in tomorrow!!!!!!

Hello my Peeps!

I've been backsliding on my eating habits. Been doing a lot of soul-searching and things hit home when I finally got around to organizing some photographs I'd taken last Nov at a family event. I don't even recognize me in the pictures. I always seem to minimize my weight in my head. Pictures don't lie and they were a slap of reality that I needed.

Time to re-evaluate!

Hugs to all. Cyn, special hugs to you for your procedures tomorrow. I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy, but had one of the best docs in MD. I was knocked out for the entire thing. The only unpleasant thing was the preparation (Drinking that nasty stuff to clean you out).

Hugs,
Ratkity

PS I bet Catherine doesn't want to see any more popcorn bags and hotdogs until the next game. Keep focused on the $$ the church gets!

Helloooo, weekly thread!

I think I am releasing all that retained water today because I cannot get more than 10 feet away from the bathroom. Usually I am a camel!

How is everyone doing today

Hi All,

I am going back to calorie counting and so far am down 10 lbs I have to have blood drawn and my labs done in Oct and that is a major motivator to get my numbers down. I am also changing shrinks so hopefully my meds will be re-balanced and maybe I will being taking fewer pills which would be fantastic.

I have decided to try around 2000 calories a day with a bit of calorie cycling to start out with. Can't hurry this time and expect impossible big losses overnight. I need time to work out a plan.

O well, the weather here is bleak. The summer Monsoon has been a bit of a dud and it is just so very hot. I left my fully charged cell phone in the car one day and the inside temperature killed the battery!

Prayers and hugs to everyone!

Pennie

Hi everyone!
Cyn I hope the procedures go well and you can start to get the help/meds you need to get well again.xxxxxxx ps I've had one of the procedures, it's not actually as bad as you think, try some Bach Rescue Remedy if they have it over there, it really calms & relaxes you. (A flower & herb tincture you drop onto your tongue) I've been using it recently to calm down after a stressful day with special needs kids instead of the bottle of wine I usually have.xxxx
Ratkitty I avoid cameras like crazy but at least this has scared you into doing something. I might brave the camera again to keep my resolve. I know you can do it, you've come 84lbs along, NO MEAN FEAT!!!!xxxxxx(wish I had!!!)
Well I'm feeling good, had another ride on friend's horse should be going today but it looks like we're getting everyone else's RAIN here!!!!grrr She asked me to look after him when she goes away so I need a refresher in tacking up. My youger sis will ride him though as I don't feel confident enough to mount on my own or with sis as she doesn't know him. I'll be fine helping her mount & ride we'll be using the 'school' as there's no way I'm taking him on the busy roads in case anything happens as he's quite 'green' (only 4 & though he's lovely he might just get scared of something & bolts).
Well I'm getting people saying 'Atkins, is that SAFE' etc.....still enjoying it & staying on it, hopefully the results will shut them up!

Sharon...let your success do the talking. I always want to say...would you be giving me the 3rd degree if I were doing WW? WW didn't work for me. This does!

For example, I went to a family bbq this weekend and stayed completely on plan altho I had larger quantities than my typical meal, but not by much. Some people thought I had gone off for the day as I had chicken, a burger (sans bun) and a heaping helping of Broccoli salad (YUM) that I brought to make sure I had something I could eat. The kicker was my dessert strawberries and blueberries and home made whipped cream! Lots of people were eating both the salad and the dessert. All on plan...in fact my two items were the only bowls completely empty at the end of the feast. To top it all off, I was 4 lbs down this Monday! Works for me!

If something works for someone...I wish people would just let them be!! OK..OK...off my soapbox for now....

Have a great day everyone!

Sad to say most people would! There are some people who just think everything is their business!

Peggy/Torrister thanks, yes you food sounds lovely except the broccolli (ick!!!) I'm hoping to see my parents at the end of August I've not told them I'm dieting AGAIN, hope to suprise them with 15-20lbs off. Well SOME weight off anyway, lol! WTG on the BIG loss!!!!xxxxxxxxxxx
Nootch, yes people do poke their noses in, whether you're losing, gaining, eating, not eating...grrrrrr We can't do right can we? All we can do is to get on with it & ignore everyone who criticises. I take it that you've had 'comments' from people? I get so bored with my parents saying 'Oh ANOTHER diet, what weird stuff are you eating this time?' or 'Why don't you just eat less & exercise?' grrrrxxxxxxxxxx
Where is everyone else? Annie will be busy with work but Carol, Anne, Battle......
xxxxxxxsharon

Sharon - I'm here - mostly posting on the over 40 thread - thanks for missing me. I'm yoyoing the same 5 pounds - this time the yoyo is going down and staying down. I won't hit that 100 lb lost mark if I don't get my rear in gear.

New workout strategy from my trainer tonight - I'm excited. Strength/resistance first - then cardio - school of thought is that your body doesn't have to heat up as it does when you warm up first with some cardio. Took measurements on Monday - excited to see what 4 weeks of this will bring.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs to all,
Carol
