Goodmorning everyone. Happy Canada Day to the Canadian chickies!!
It's Monday and it's the 1st of July. I can barely believe it. A post was posted last week about where we all want to be in 6 months. I think the title of this new thread is a perfect reminder of how fast time flies. But also, what we are all capable of accomplishing in 6 months. I know where I was 6 months ago. And I don't want to go back. I know where I can be in 6 months, and I am determined to get there.
How was everyones weekends? Mine was nice. Was home alot, doing some yard work and still unpacking. I am loving every second of it. I feel as if I have my own little house. I really lucked out with this place, and am so happy I was patient. Did okay with the "plan" this weekend. Could have been better, but am always critical. I did good. Weather was even nice, but today, the humidity is back in full force. I need to move. lol
Velvet..So glad to hear you had a nice belated birthday dinner with your Mom.
Jen..How did everything go this weekend? were you and hubby able to sit down and talk it out? Money is the #1 problem in most relationships. It's very stressful. Did you survive your first day without your son? I could only imagine how tough it was for you.
Anagram..Any reason why they put the allert out about the water? That must be a pain. The things I take for granted.
Joeanne..I've been to Arizona a few times, and I loved it. Have you lived there your whole life?
Hope everyone gets their booties in here soon and post. Have a great day everyone.
Gosh, I'm so tired... *yawn* it's been dreadfully hot, to hot to exist, dad in law said 2 weeks ago he was going to fix the cooler in the front of our house...still waiting... I'm gaining again, I can't get back into gear, it's too hot to even think about moving my butt, at least indoors... and my ankle is still swollen anyway (even though the pain is less and less....) I'm still checking out this plan, but it's a few weeks before you start the actual weight loss portion of it anyway... the first part is detox and whatnot (not like a detox fast or anything...) I dunno... I spose I should be waking up before I go and post, I get the feeling I'm rambling and not much making sense...
I to have been to arizona, I actully lived there for about 7 years in Phoenix. I hate to hear about those fires,. Especially sonce they were set!1 that really makes me angry.
I have not much else going on here just cleaning the bus getting ready for our camping trip next week. now comes the packing part. UGH!!!!
6 Months from now I hope to be under 200.. I can't wait to Christmas.. I just love that time of the year!!!
I thought I would copy/paste this list I received from a diet email list I'm on. It lists the 5 top worst foods ever!:
Chicken wings: 159 calories, 11 fat grams PER WING
An order of 10 wings: 1590 calories, 110 fat grams
Alfredo sauce: 251 calories, 17 fat grams per cup of sauce
Restaurant portion of Fettucine Alfredo (5 cups pasta, 3 cups sauce): 1553 calories, 61 fat grams
Caesar salad (entree size, 5 cups of salad): 1255 calories, 70 fat grams
One order of restaurant potato skins (10 skins with bacon, cheese and sour cream): 1641 calories, 81 fat grams
One cup of nachos, with beef, beans, cheese and sour cream: 560 calories, 35 fat grams
This sucks - because I love all of these foods!!!
Yesterday, Jim, Sara & I went to see Lilo & Stitch - what a cute movie! If you have young kids take them - it was funny for us grown-ups too. I ate just 1 hand full of Sara's popcorn and a huge glass of diet pepsi. I have been off regular soda for 2 months now! - that is so major for me!!!
yet another copy and paste.. hope this helps someone
DO
* Always drink water before your meal - it will fill your stomach.
* Read menu carefully and look at ingredients of all dishes. (Always ask if you have questions.)
* If there is a salad bar, check it out. It may be a meal in itself.
* Ask to have your fish or poultry grilled, poached or baked, even if it is not on the menu.
* Ask for all dressings, butter, sour cream and sauces on the side.
* Dip your fork in the sauce or dressing first, then pick up your food. You will still get the flavor without the added calories.
* Order a salad as an appetizer.
* Share an entrée with a friend.
* Eat slowly and take small bites; it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register feelings of fullness.
* Take some leftovers home or ask your waiter to put half in a doggy bag before it is served to you.
* If you want dessert, share it with a friend and only take small bites.
* Enjoy your meal! Savor each bite and make it worth the calories.
DON’T
* Refrain from asking the waiter questions. You are the only one who will suffer.
* Order something light just because it says so. Ask how it is prepared before you order it.
* Fill up on bread before your meal comes. To avoid being tempted ask the waiter not to bring bread to the table.
* Put butter on your bread or dip it in flavored oils.
* Go overboard with the alcohol – it adds excess calories and stimulates your appetite. If you would like to have a drink have it with the meal rather then before.
* Add extra salt to your meal.
* Eat unconsciously. Snacking on peanuts at the bar to pass the time while waiting for your dinner companions will really add some unwanted calories.
* Feel badly about saying No to desserts and other complimentary offerings.
I lucked out on the boil water thing. Apparently it was only for PART of our township, the part NOT served by my water company. I was very happy when I checked it out.
For the customers of the other water co. not so good. they're still under the order though repairs have been made. Apparently a sinkhole caused a breakage and a lot of people had no water, muddy water, etc. The fact that it was a weekend made it easier for some situations but bad for others. Restaurants involved closed and lost lots of business, etc.
So counting my blessings! Having a good day so far, the very most OP so far that I've had for a while. Worked out in the pool, at 48 plus on the water (plus tea, TAB) plus chicken and good plan stuff on the menu for later. Was having a little trouble with motivation toward the end of last week but ON AGAIN.
Hope all went well for those who moved over the weekend.
Hi all. I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.
PNG..I'm curious about the book you are reading. Whats the name of it. I'm really into detoxing but usually go the fasting route to do it. An alternative would be interesting. When you get a chance please post the name.
Hi, all. Mom and I are going to the Allegheny Mountains for 4 or 5 days beginning tomorrow. I'll be AWOL til the weekend. Hope everyone has a great Fourth. Ok, so here's the thing...since I won't be able to check in til Sat or so, I don't want anyone to post til then, Ok??? Well, then, OK, I'll just take next weekend to read!!
Thanks for the tips, Dana. There is a WEALTH of great info there. I we only do 1 per week, we'd be doing ourselves a great service!
July already......6 months from now I would like to be under 200. I'm sure its totally do-able.. I just have to keep sticking to it
Not much has been happening with me this week... I rounded up some boxes and soon I shall be packing...(joy joy) I plan on being out of the apartment by the 3rd week in July, so I have lots of activities ahead of me.
Goodmorning everyone. Seems like were all hanging in there. Weather is disgustng here. Happy I have to work though I am terribly bored. Think I will just play games all day. Not feeling too great today, but am sure the humidity is playing a roll in it. Going to just increase over the remainder of the week. Ahhh, hate NY weather.
Any exciting 4th of July plans? Me, nada. Maybe go to my aunts house for a little bit, but that's about it.
Hello Girls, I am here... but will be GONZO on Thursday and Friday.
I kinda blew it this weekend, but my scale at home is holding out, and hopefully my body will cooperate tonight, and I'll end up the same or having lost. It was my birthday though, so I guess I'm allowed.
I managed to find this HUGE 64oz insulated mug thing at Dunkin Donuts, It's GREAT! I mentioned how I found it and I wanted it, and the girl who is working with me bought it for me this morning, which was really sweet. now I just need to fill it twice, and I've gotten all my water in. I think its totally doable for me, although hubby is going to KILL me soon with all the water toting containers I've collected.. I'm just trying to find SOMETHING that will work.
SO, I'm back OP today (so far anyway).. It's incredibly uncomfortable outside, and incredibly freezing in here in the A/C. It's awful for my body, and killing me to go from the 60 degree (no joke!) ac in the building to the 95 degree weather outside.. they are threatening that it will hit 100 degrees tomorrow!! (UGH! and again I say UGH UGH UGH!)
4th of July.. We're headed to Lake Winnipesaukee in NH for Thursday and Friday... going to see the parade and fireworks... then coming home friday night and going to see some bands in Boston.. then having a cookout at my parents house (and POOL!) on Saturday.. and just chillin on sunday. So it should be a good weekend, and I think I shouldn't have much trouble at all staying OP.
I am training myself to like coffee.. Trying to find ICED DECAF is a pain in the neck though. I need to start finding something to drink that has caffeine in it that does NOT have aspertame. So she got an iced coffee from Dunkins this am for me, black, and I put in my skim milk and splenda, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Splenda mixes in REALLY well, and dissolves right away, unlike sugar! That was exciting. Now I just need to find decaf, like I said. Worst case I make it for myself I guess.
Well now that I have made up for about 6 days of not posting LOL hope you all have a great day!
Hi All, in again, feeling somewhat better... still too hot, and still tired, and huby is still bringing home food that he probably shouldn't, but at least last night the dinner he brought home was sensible, and animal free.... that is, until he decided to go back out for dessert... choco-marshmallow ice cream... oi looks like we need to have that talk again...lol
Sarah, the book is called "Your Last Diet" lol, it's for people who are sugar sensitive, so the detoxing I'll be doing is off of sugar... it's gotten really out of hand, even when I was doing good, my plan allowed for at least a candy bar a day, and once again, it's gone way oout of control, and if I don't have a sugary snack, I begin to get violent...lol or very creative! So, today, I start "doing the food" or getting my body used to the new way of eating, without starting the actual diet, then later on, the detoxing, and finally the weightloss portion... so, if this is what needs to be done, that I need to slow down, or stop, to try and get it together, I'll do it! It's not bad, this morning I had a decent sized bowl of oatmeal with my sugar, I don't have to cut it totally yet... and 5 slices of veggie ham, (a serving is 4, but two stuck together, and I didn't notice...lol )heated in a little bit of oil, because they're totally fat-free... so I've had a good portion of healthy carb, about 17g of protien, and a touch of fat to help it all work... oh yeah, and so far, I've downed almost a quart of water too, and I feel good, for once...
Gosh, look at me, blah blah blah.... yackin all over the place... I guess I'll go terrorize another thread...LOL
Today I need a break..
I am taking a well deserved day off... because remind me why I shouldn't feel guilty about it.
I know what started it.. I had no bread in the house.. so I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. those never satisfy me.
This is what I've had just this morning:
cereal 4 pts
pretzels 2 pts
1/2 pbj sandwich (left over from my dd - I must stop doing that!!!!) 2pts
dove mini icecream - really sweet - 1 pts
I've already had 9 points so far today!!!! Normally I am at 3 or 4..
Plus I've had no water.. I am normally at 32 oz so far!!
What has happened??? I hate for being like this today. I've been in control for so long.
It's 10 am and I'm ready for a NAP! but my 2 year won't let me
Sorry guys.. just had to vent.
.. atleast I have banked points from yesterday.
Dana - you have 2 choices.
Take a day off from being OP.. which IS allowed now and again, as long as it doesn't happen every day! LOL
OR - get back on track now!
I once consumed my ENTIRE days points (no joke!) at lunch. Luckily I hadn't had breakfast.. and I had salad, point free soup, and a HUGE bowl of broccoli for dinner, and voila, I stayed OP!
Jenniffer - thanks for asking about the fight I've been having with the dh. We didn't exactly work it out but we are not fighting anymore either. I think I have finally broken through to dh that this is a HUGE concern and while he may not 100% agree with me he can see that I am upset and is going to try and curb his spending. I took away one of his credit cards and told him it was maxed out (technically it's not but very close) and told him not to use the other ones too much as they are the high interest ones. So we'll see what happens I guess.
