Good Morning All! It's lovely outside right now but today is expected to be even worse than yesterday. Yikes! Enjoyed breakfast on the patio with dh (something we do just about every day that is above 60 degrees). Half a bagel WITH MARGARINE (treat) plus some grapes and cherries and green tea.

Managed to stay OP over the weekend pretty much despite myself but went on to have two more supergood days. Hope I can keep my mini streak going for a while. Went to pool again yesterday and today knees are sore. That's why I don't usually go two days in a row. Also did some yard work last two days (in late evening). Water's been no problem with all this heat and humidity.

On the fourth we plan to go to a local Musicfest (basically a minifestival). On the fifth we're going to travel to dd's so I can get some Snugglepuss and Cuddlebum hugs. Neither dd nor we wanted to travel on the fourth. Plus this way, she can have a little free time to go out while we babysit. We'll come back same evening.

Wishing you all super OP day today!

Blah is all I can say.

I'm super happy about my loss last night, but have had a killer headache since about 4pm yesterday, and it won't go away. I've tried everything. Lots of water, caffeine, excedrine... nothing is working.

Oreo woke me up at 6am this morning whining frantically... I jumped out of bed to rush her outside, but she wouldn't go out. Wierd dog. I fed her breakfast, guess she was just hungry.

Then I folded all the laundry and put away all Greg's clean clothes (which usually just end up sitting in piles on his night stand).. got ready and came into work early.

Of course when Greg calls, he had to hassle me about leaving the a/c in our bedroom on... It's going to be 95 today with a heat index of 105! There is NO WAY IN **** I'm leaving oreo at home alone without all the a/c she can get. Besides the fact that all the air conditioners are on recirculate, so they don't really use that much energy anyway. Then, we started talking about the heat, and he was saying how hot he was driving from the gym to work, and I mentioned that I was quite comfortable, which shows that the Jeep is a little cooler to ride in, which makes our choice to take it to NH a good one. Well, of course, he had to argue with that too, saying that "well of course I'm hot having just gotten out of the gym and sitting in traffic.. you went from the nice air conditioned house to a moving car..." He has about a 3/4 mile drive from the gym to his office.. I swear something is wrong with his internal thermostat or whatever you want to call it.. Besides the fact, I was just trying to justify taking the gas guzzler on our 2 1/2 hour drive! that's all.. cuz I'm worried about money. So I said "you know? I just don't feel like talking to you right now." and I hung up. Man, I'm frustrated with him.. and this headache is NOT helping.

So, that's me. Annoyed, and in Pain. But I'll live.

Well, whoever said Mondays are for starting over was full of... well, you know... because I woke up this morning full of motivcation, and halfway full of energy, lol, I get the kids back today, so maybe it's my defense mechanism kicking in, to save me from the mental pain they cause me... but whatever did it, I'm up, dressed, and cleaning house... and I don't mean spot cleaning, I mean CLEANING...so that should count for some activity today, right? Later this afternoon, Ravyn and I get all cute (like she has to work at it...) slather on sunscreen, and walk to the theater to see Powerpuff Girls... girls afternoon out, PLUS a little more exercise :-D

I got referred to the other dental surgeon, he is waaaay cheaper, but at the cost of me having to wait almost a month, because he works between 2 towns, and he's already finished up here...

Hubby suprised me last night with the latest dvd release of Pearl Harbor, it has 4 discs, collector postcards and a little production book, in a really cool little box...it's AWESOME I would have rather he not spent that much.... but... at least it wasn't ice cream He also cooked me a very nice vegetarian dinner, Loma Linda Pro-tean patties (excellent meat analogue, even if the name is kind of funny) in mushroom gravy, yellow squash, and mashed potatoes, we found an instant kit that is actually vegan, so I can have my mashed potatoes quick, and without having to steam up the whole house for a long time... whoohoo!

I do have some chocolate hiding out in the freezer, but at least I didn't eat the whole bag already...lol, and in my candy jar this week... old fashioned mini jaw breakers, so I have something sugary, that my poor teeth can't bite through, so I have to eat them slow... and for little tiny things, they last forever.

Anagram, great job being OP!

Beth, oi, laundry? Don't mess with it, I may wash, but folding, hanging and all that stuff is Johnny's job, so unless he goes on a OT streak, he pretty much takes care of all of the laundry needs... in this house, HE's the one that leaves the A/C on, lol, our bedroom is SMALL and you can cool it within 15 minutes usually, but noooo, he has to leave it on allll day... grr! Good job avoiding another "big thing" with hubby... he may be steamed that you cut him off that way, but it HAS to be better than a huge fight! If the headache doesn't go away soon, you may want to see a doctor, you could have something else going on, maybe a pinched nerve...or it could just be a super-stress headache...

OK, well I'm off now, gonna set my mail to load up, and go to cleaning

Have a great day everyone

Good Morning Everyone!!

Didn't get in yesterday to post, so I've got a lot of making up to do. I'd like to get down to 200 by X-mas also, but am not sure that's very realistic for me. (I have this attitude problem lately )

Jenniffer: I'm so glad that you are enjoying every minute of unpacking and placing things exactly where YOU want them. We aren't going too far or doing too much over the 4th. Whatever we do will be spontaneous. (We try to keep off the highways during holidays as much as possible.)

PNG: Are you awake today? Be kind to yourself with exercising in this heat. Don't overdo, or we'll be having to worry about you even more.

sue: You're a better woman than I am for going camping. The first and last time I went was with his family. Went to a state campground, they had a fire and MIL had the pots and pans etc to cook with. I heard about that and said DH and I would be eating at a restaurant. (I know, I know. What did I expect? Right?) My whole thinking, though, was that if I was on vacation, I wasn't going to wash dishes in the woods, cuz I wasn't staying home to do it either. Soooo, my idea of camping is the Holiday Inn. If we can't afford it, we don't go. (We haven't been on a vacation in a loonnngg time. But I'm a workaholic anyway.)

dana: I'm okay with the 5 most dangerous restaurant foods, because 3 of the 5 I wouldn't consider ordering anyway.

anagram: I hope that the water situation is getting better in your area. I tend to take things for granted until it's not there for a while (like having electricity until there's a bad storm).

sarah:

gayle: Have a safe trip to the mountains. Don't get lost.

traci: Packing sure is a lot of work. Are you counting this as exercise? I told DH that if we ever move again, we're going to sell our house "AS IS" with all our junk left in it. We'll just grab our pillows and leave.

Beth Anne: At least the air conditioning is ON when you get to work. When I walked in the other morning, Bossman hadn't turned it on and was about 80 degrees in here. One can put on a sweater, but one can't take off certain articles of clothing. Maybe the heat has something to do with your discussion with DH. I've encountered more irritable/rude people during the last couple hot days than I have in a long time.

Jen: When I was getting concerned about our credit card usage, I took a permanent marker and wrote across the front the amount of interest percentage we were paying. So, when one of us pulled out a card and saw that a new shirt was going to cost X amount of dollars PLUS the interest, it made us think twice before actually buying things.

I hope everyone has a SAFE and happy Independence Day.

annie

Default I am bad :(

I did great for one day, but the next one not so great. So here is my problem: I always give in to my husband when he wants to buy me a cappuccino, not only that he decides he wants a donut and so he buys the biggest one just so he can share with me. I am so bad, every time I eat it. it seems I have no will power. Ok not only that he comes and picks me up while I am on my walk just to go get the coffee. Oh what am I to do? A couple of times I got regular coffee, also I made him drop me off before we got home just I can walk. But in the long run this is not going to work. I mean I've even tried to get up earlier than he does and make coffee or walk early but again same story. Ok Ok I didn't mean to get all worked up about this, I love my husband but I know when he trying to undermine my efforts but this time I know.
At my TOPS meeting, I weighed in at 1/2 pound more. Now how sad can that be? I even went to tae bo twice last week and logged in no less that 1-1 1/2 miles every day.

THATS IT FOR ME---WORK HARDER, BE STRONGER, BE WISER---150 HERE I COME

Joe-Anne..
I hope you get the support you need and deserve from your husband! Sit down and have a serious talk with him.. let him know why you want to lose weight. (write it down first) Can you guys walk to the coffee shop? That could be your reward. You only get the coffee if you walk to get it.

Good Luck!

Dana

Hope the headache is easing, BA.

We don't call that bad, Joe-Anne. We call it human. He's trying to please you (though undermining as well). So you try to please him. Have the same problem though not as bad as at one time. If I decide to have a treat of 1/2 cup of light ice cream (which is what I've allotted), I'd better get it myself. DH will offer and sure enough, he has so much piled in that little dish that it comes up close to double, I'm sure. And I can't tell you how many times in the last few days he's offered me some candy.

Of course, he's sitting there having lost four pounds between doctor's visits and five the time before. He normally loses like made in spring/summer because of golfing, mowing and just plain sweating (which he likes to do). So that's nine down, taking me nine pounds further from my goal of weighing less than he does.

But I know he means well and yes we've had the "talk" many times so I just figure I have to do what I have to do. When I met him (130 lbs of me), I didn't eat at night, seldom snacked and ate little in the sweets line. Ha! But I don't blame his eating influence. Lurking inside me were my genes so now he weighs a good 24 lbs or so less than he did then and I'm just short of double.

So we're here for you and you just think of us saying "no, thank you, dear" when he offers you something not on your plan. Be sure to tell him too how thoughtful he is and maybe he can come up with other, non caloric ways to be thoughtful. That walk to the coffee shop sounds great. Maybe a decaf, lo-fat latte?

cappucinos aren't all bad, but many places put strange things in them. a basic one is just espresso with steamed milk. and that can be decaf, and skim milk. with a sprinkle of cinnamon or ground chocolate, it's a lovely treat. but when places add syrups and sugars and stuff and turn it into more of a dessert coffee, THAT's what makes life tough for us.

one treat that i like is something my grandmother called latte cafe. the french call it cafe au lait. and heaven only knows what these fancy coffee places call it.

it's half plain coffee [not espresso] and half steamed milk. that's it!!! really great stuff.

and joe anne.. avoid the doughnut. crumble it up for the birds. toss it out. whatever you need to do. anything but eat it.

and by the way, you are so beautiful.

well, nothing else from this chickie!!! i seemed to have used up all my advice and telling people what to do while at work!!! take me away, calgon!!!!!

Default yet another top 10

Hope this helps out someone.. there are some great ideas here.. try just one this weekend. Happy 4th Everyone!

I thought #3 happened automatically..

Burn Calories (Not Your Fingers) at Your Next Barbecue!

The Top 10 Ways to Burn Calories at This Year’s Barbecue!

1. Offer to set up for the entire barbecue and, when it’s over, help clean up. By lending a hand, you will burn approximately 238 calories an hour.

2. Volunteer to baby-sit your relatives’ children. Running around, skipping, jumping, and playing with the little ones will burn around 272 calories an hour.

3. Bring up politics, religion, marriage, or having grandkids. Surely an argument will ensue, and you will lose your appetite. This will help you stay away from fattening and highly caloric foods altogether.

4. Sit next to a friend or relative who has poor eating habits, such as chewing with his mouth open and trying to ingest large quantities of food at once. Viewing such a display will discourage you from eating anytime soon.

5. Attend the barbecue of a friend who always purchases food of the lowest quality and has the reputation for being the worst cook. In this scenario, you won’t be tempted to eat very much at all.

6. Before the rest of the group gets there, mow the lawn, trim the hedges, and arrange the garden. You can burn approximately 340 calories an hour.

7. Stand by the grill throughout the day. You will be so hot that you will sweat profusely, and thereby lose water weight. Seeing your new, slimmed down self will motivate you to stick to a fitness program and lose weight the proper way.

8. Jump into an ice-cold swimming pool, pond, lake, or ocean. You’ll burn calories by simply trying to maintain your body temperature. Plus you’ll burn 57 calories for every five minutes you spend treading water.

9. Start a philosophical debate with your most talkative friend or relative. The long conversation that will follow will occupy such a large part of the day that you won’t have much of an opportunity to eat.

10. Wear the tightest outfit you own the day of the barbecue. Your fear of having your stomach stick out even more after you eat will motivate you to steer clear of overeating.

Good Morning and Happy 4th to all! Am I the only one who has NOTHING to do until WAY later? Oh well, I had a great day yesterday, even if all I ate wasn't totally OP... it was a start... we didn't walk to the movies, since the woman I babysit for was almost an hour late but instead, we went to the closer theater, and saw Lilo and Stitch, and I paid for hubby to go see Mr. Deeds... I had the SMALL popcorn, only half of my soda, and yes, the candy bar.... after, hubby decided we were going to the casino to eat, the buffet was mexican... roast pork... green chile pork... beef tamales...chiles rellano!!!!OI.. but, I ordered one of the 2 vegetarian meals off of the menu instead... Thai Veggie skewers... they were awful, the vegetables were so hard, I hurt myself trying to chew them...lol and they were too spicy, so the manger took it back and brought me a veggie sandwich instead... I gave my fries to the kid, and still have half of my veggie sandwich here

After that, I went and got Ravyn some CLOTH training pants, instead of the diaper kind, because she's getting SO good at going potty, she won't even use her potty chair, she uses the BIG potty so, that was her reward, BIG big girl pants... then we were off to Smith's (yes, we crammed all of our extra shopping into last night) to get me a relaxer for my hair, gotta control the fro, right? Well, while I was there, I spent the last of my extra money buying things like soy milk, for me, (Johnny hates it, and it gives Ravyn a belly ache, and I need the extra protien, especially in the morning) Veggie Shreds cheese, Gimme Lean "sausage" Smart Bacon, or as I call it, Facon... Yves veggie maple sausage, lite tofu, and tofu scrambler....and veggie yogurt all kinds of foods to start my day off right, protien, low fat, and vegetarian, I figure if we stock up on the good foods, we're less likely to go running for the bad ones!

OK, now for the big, huge news...lol, I CUT MY HAIR... 2 years worth of growing the miserable mess on top of my head, I cut it off...the instant it was done, without my perm, or styling or anything, Johnny (who is brutally honest...lol) says "It looks 100% better already." it's short in the back, and spiky, and I left it long in the front, so I can crimp, straighten, or curl my bangs, however I decide I feel any given day, it's so much cooler...sigh, no mounds of frizzy, unmanageable hair over my neck anymore

(psst, I also peeked at the scale and have a tiny little loss, but don't tell anyone... it's a secret until Monday...hehe)

Ok, anyways, I'm out of here, have to do my perm today (yay) so I need to cook breakfast, and get the kid organized for the morning here...everyone have an awesome day!

Default OH MY GOD!

I just had the strangest experience of my life... I got a call, from my mom 10 minutes after I had gotten off of the phone with her... my older sister, half sister, who I've never met before, came over, so she could talk to me, she's going to Vegas next month, and is going to make a side trip to come see me, I feel like I'm in one of those Unsolved Mysteries things... I've been looking for my sisters since I was about 15, never found anything at all... so this is immense to me... she recently hit the lottery... lol, and originally went to my mom to buy some things for my girls, and she wants to take Ravyn shopping... I have 2 nieces, and 2 nephews, all musicians... she gave me the website for the recod label they're on... so I could at least see them that way.. I am in total shock, I've known about her my whole life, but she just found out about me a couple months ago, when my "father" decided to come clean to everyone.... OI, I need to go DO something, I've got too much going through my head!

I'm picking at the M&M cookies. That's dangerous. Those little pickings add up. It's because I'm upset about something my brother said to me last night. I should really talk to him instead of picking at the cookies. I find it very hard to be direct with people and hate conflict. I should know by now that cookies are not the answer, but old habits die hard.
