Default Allow me to introduce myself!

Hello All,
As my user name states, I am "learning to live again." I live in Pasco County, Florida. I have an awesome 12 year old son and a wonderful husband of 15 years. We live on 5 acres with horses (3), dogs (2) and cats (6). I am currently a full time mom and full time caregiver to my mother who has dementia (what an cruel disease), and I do an occasional bit of photography (mostly weddings). I joined mostly for the emotional support. I find it hard to express my feeling face to face and feel this forum will help since I don't seem to have a problem with typing my feelings. I suffer from depression and am struggling to find an antidepressant I'm not allergic to. I have just stopped taking my 4th one due to another allergic reaction. I am currently about 160 pounds overweight, but have lost 23 of those pounds just by working on improving my eating habits. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

. . . so glad to have you joining us . . . and congratulations on your loss so far. I know you will find lots of support around here as you travel the long, and sometimes, bumpy road to better health and fitness.

BTW, I've got six cats, too but no dogs or horses -- all my cats are indoors all the time; what about yours?

Thank you for the welcome meowee. I have 2 cats inside due to they were declawed before I adopted them, the other 4 wandered into our barn at various times the last couple of years. We usually can't resist allowing them to stay as long as they agree to be spayed or neutered. The dogs are indoor puppies. One black lab who is 8 yrs old and 1 sheppard/rotty mix who is 7 yrs old. The horses of course are all in the barn, all mares, ages 1yr., 8 yrs., and 27 yrs. And all are quarter horses.

Hi and well done on what you've lost already!

I'm a dog person, and have 5:
a Staffie Cross, a Jack Russel Cross (short), a Jack Russell Cross (tall), a black and tan Collie cross and a little black shaggy terrier thingy. The first 3 are 13, the last 2 will be 13 this year. I did have a black Lab. (not crossed with anything ) but she died aged 11 at Christmas 2006.

I hear what you're saying about typing feelings - it is SO much easier than having to say them!

Welcome to 3fc!! It can be so hard to give, give, give to others all the time. We have to learn to care for ourselves, too. I'm glad you're here!!

Thanks for the welcome. Your right about the give, give, give. I never thought I would be caring for a parent with dementia, let alone having to deal with it twice. My MIL recently past away due to complications from dementia. I have 3 siblings and they are making no attempt to help my mom so it's all up to me.
