When is the wedding ? How much do you want to lose? If you eat less calories and exerise more, you will lose weight. You don't have to join a gym if you don't want to.But you can walk. take the stairs instead of the elevator, park at fhe farthest spot from the store, office, church, etc. Walk the dog, it all adds up. I , personally have found that calorie counting works best for me. The best program for you will be the one that you will do.
Good luck

If you aren't exercising it's time to bite the bullet and get some workouts in. If you can afford the gym and get a trainer- they can definitely help you in 5-6 months to lose that weight- but you have to be very good on your workouts and don't skip anything and don't reward yourself with food- try things like a haircut, or a new outfit, or something else that's material and not edible

I'm sure you can go it! Good luck.

You have a lot of resources on hand USE THEM!! I don't think you will lose 50 pounds by that time but you can lose one and a half to two pounds a week safely. You should be able to lose 20 to 30 pounds even 35 pounds are doable in that period of time. Exercise and reduce calories and you will see success.

great visual of tigger's auntie!!!

Anyway, I agree with the others, you are going to have to get yourself moving. If you can't keep up with the video...USE the pause button. Of course those incredibly fit people can do 20 reps in virtually no time! The important thing is that you do as many of the reps as you can in however long it takes and then you will build strength.

To start, I would focus on cardio and then add in resistance/weight training after a few weeks. I am also a calorie counter and yes, it really is diet and exercise. I would also recommend finding a like-minded group of chicks here on 3FC, maybe in the challenges, maybe in age-based groups, whatever, that can help you keep on track. There is nothing the support you'll get here to keep you going.

I agree take full advantage of those tapes!

I'm not rich either but was able to acquire a treadmill for $100 on craigslist and bought a set of weights at the store for like $15 and I'm good

I used to go to the gym but got rid of my membership. I haven't enjoyed going in a while and was like why spend $30 a month for it?!

You should be happy with the 8 pounds--any time you lose really, or even maintain! But you will get a lot of support to push you to faster weight loss on this site. Welcome!

Hi Ann, I'm Joan, 57 yrs and 194lbs!! my son just got engaged so I get how you feel! What a great motivator and goal the wedding will be. I just joined this month and I'm still having lots of trouble figuring out the web site. I can do facebook, so I will figure this out too. Our son hasn't set a date yet but I need to get going, plus summer is around the corner. I know for me the deal is exercise... so I'm thinking a nice long walk most days. Usually on a day I exercise I'm better at resisting the over-eating impulse, because I don't want to undo the progress I just made. I'd love to be friends but I'm not sure how to ever find you again on this site... I feel like such a dummy. I just tried to put a picture, and one of those weight tracker things on my profile, so when i post this I'll see if I succeeded. I joined this month while in texas on holiday. Our travel trailer was being fixed for a few days, and I found the time. I'm home in Peterborough Ontario Canada now and want to use this site and start losing!! Good luck to you, and I know you can do it!! We have fit and healthy gals inside us, just waiting to jump out and live more fully!! Joan

You can do it Ann. Start small. I think many people wake up one morning and decide to change everything and it gets overwhelming!

Take each choice as it comes to you. Wake up a half hour early and take a walk a few mornings per week. When your kids offer you seconds, think about whether you're really hungry or not and make the decision to say no. If you watch TV or a movie at home, march in place, or do crunches.

Making small changes leads to making even bigger changes...because you'll have the desire to change! Good luck!

thanx to joan and girlie for your reply i'm not really sure that i'm working this site properly but if i'm nothing else i'm a tryer i hope we can stay in contact and i'm sure i'll find a lot of help and inspiration from you i did have a bad week but i think i'm back on track and raring to go i feel friends are a great motivator and as most of my friends are thin they really don't understand my twenty year battle of the bulge and frustration in not being able to buy the clothes i like in my size,my hubbie is great and i know he loves me dearly but when he says i look great to him i could scream
