Why do four day weeks seem sooooo long?! Okay, I admit it, I just wanted to post before Ruth or Cottage

What's happening in your world today?

Good morning, Cyndi! You win the first cup of coffee for being first this morning! It wasn't a 4-day week for me, but it was a long week. I've been really dragging all week long, and now I know it's because this headcold was lurking. TGIF!

The wind is howling and it's bitter cold. I don't want to go out!!! But I have to finish up cleaning for my friend this morning. She wanted to talk too much yesterday, so I couldn't get a lot done. Plus I was feeling crappy on top of all that. We never did make it to the library yesterday, we just played some board (bored) games and read story books all afternoon. If I'm feeling perkier today, we'll try to get to the library so Maggie can play on the computer for a while.

Right now I need more coffee to clear my head.

You win today, CyndiM! Doesn't that just make your day?

Cottage, I'm sorry you're feeling less than perky. I hope things improve as the day wears on.

I'm in need of extra coffee this morning too. For some reason I'm sore and limping around this morning. I suspect I did a bit too much walking around in town yesterday and both knees are objecting. This too shall pass.

Today has only one thing on the schedule - our local councilman is coming for lunch to discuss my taking over the financial admin stuff for the township sports group. It's not a big job but the different organizations are not following the "rules" which are non-existent. When you worked for Revenue Canada you get a reputation around here so..... As you know, I do a lot of volunteer work but have nothing for the teens on my plate.

Disney gets tested by TheraPaws on Sunday and still doesn't walk properly on the lead. We'll work on it a bit more today but I have my doubts that she'll pass. We'll still be able to do our visits, just not officially which may not be a bad thing.

Time to rustle up some soup for today's lunch - I'm thinking clam chowder.

Good Morning, Girlies,

Cyndi, I was up at 11:30 last night and thougth about posting for Friday. I see this morning that Thursday's chat was still open.

Cottage -- Take care of your cold today! I'm so sorry you are under the weather. A cold is no fun.

Ruth -- Have fun with your volunteer projects. Auston will be starting Kindergarten in August. I hope to volunteer at the school.

Me -- I've decided to change my weigh in day from Saturday to Friday. I'm down another 1.5 pounds this week. WooHoo!!!

One week from today, we are going to Lake Charles, LA for a long weekend. My brother and his wife will be in the States from Okinawa, Japan, where he's station with the Air Force. I'm going to try to stay on plan there, but it will NOT be easy. Andouille sausage, boudin, fresh seafood gumbo, cracklins from Rabideaux's -- you can't even get that stuff in Alabama. We will be having a crawfish boil Sunday. That's on plan without the corn and potatoes. I am very excited about seeing my family. Auston is excited about playing with his cousins.

You all have a great day.

Good morning ladies!

Cottage - I'm hurting for some coffee too. About to fire up the machine now! Hope you feel better.

Ruth - Have fun! I volunteer at Patrick's school all the time and love it. Now that he's back full time I love having the free time to do that kind of thing. I've been thinking of volunteering at the hospital.

Chelby - Your trip sounds wonderful! That's so great that you get to see your brother. I know you'll do a good job on program. You could always pretend you're on Atkins and then have the Andouille and crackins. That's Atkins heaven. Heehee. Sorry. You can do it!

Me... not a lot. Just hanging around waiting for my stove to come betwenn 11-2. Picking up the house, getting some groceries, etc. I do need to plan what to do with this umbrella stand I'm working on in ceramics class. I need a pattern to do some etching on it.

Good morning chicks.

Pearlrose, I am so sorry about your doggie.
Jenne, have a great time and may lady luck be your friend (this weekend AND for your interviews)!
Hope your cold passes quickly cottage. Too bad you can't take the day off and lounge in bed with some tea and a book.
Good morning skinnybride. Stay warm.
Chelby, your trip sounds really fun.
Ruth, hope your aches ease up. I've been thinking clam chowder too. I was eyeing the clams at the grocery store last night, but I decided to wait. Do you have a good recipe? I haven't attempted a chowder because I just think it would miss the potatoes too much. I was wondering about using evap skim milk with some arrowroot powder and cubed zucchini. Any tips?

Last night I hit a Canadian Goose. I still feel really bad about it. Stuff like that bugs me. I came around a curve and there he was, just sitting alone in the middle of the road. I didn't have time to avoid him, just time enough to see him and make eye contact and he looked at me very calmly, like "bring it on", then thump and crunch. Tammy thought he might be suicidal, and I wondered that myself. DD was in the car with me and she was very upset.

My friend called last night with some great news - her latest scan shows no sign of the 2-inch tumor in her kidney that they were all set to remove next week. So maybe this was just a scare, and we are woo-hoo! but also, huh? and WTF?

Today will be busy. Kids get out 2 hours early, DH is away, DD has a basketball tournie tonight, and I've got to get to the PO to mail DD's eBay pkgs. I convinced her to auction a bunch of stuff she was about to toss. Now she's glad I did. Who'd have thunk somebody out there was willing to pay $30 for a denim miniskirt in the "destroyed" style? It's basically a torn up 12" square of denim, but it's got that ever-so-magical name embroidered on it. I shudder to think what she paid for it to begin with. At least she can pay me what she owes me now!

Happy Friday all!

I'm officially in PH2 but stick to a PH1.5 most days (1 starch & fruit). My menus are whole foods and mostly vegetarian (meatless). SBD makes it so easy to do both. So far so good...I have a loooong way to go though.

Good morning. I have been up for a while but this is the first free minute I have to pop on here.

Hi Mizski! Good to meet you!

Cottage - Sorry you are a bit under the weather. I hope your day runs smoothly.

Chelby - Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! It will be hard to be around all of that southern cooking. . .just do your best.

Schmoodle - Sounds like you jave a busy day ahead of you! I hope it runs smoothly. Also, YAY for your friend!

Stacy _ Your poor little girl! I t is so sad when they are sick. I hope she feels better.

I am just putzing around the house today. We got a surprise snowstorm here that just dumped a bunch of snow on us. Depending on how the little one is, maybe we willl go play in the snow.

I posted this in the P1 section, but I started a weight loss group about 3 weeks ago (even though I just started SBD on Monday). I had my weekly weigh in yesterday and in the past 3 weeks, I lost 9 lbs. I am so excited!

Good morning, everyone! It's almost the afternoon, really. Sigh.

Cyndi: Hi! Glad you got here so early!! Someone needs to give Ruth and Cottage a run for their money some days!

Cottage: I hope your head cold is clearing up! I'm sure the girls had fun playing their "bored" games, even if you didn't. Have a nice day.

Ruth: Poor Disney; just to anxious to get places, isn't she? I hope the new volunteer project doesn't spread you too thin, but I'm sure you'll enjoy doing something for a new age group. Hope you get your knees some rest!

Skinnybride: Hi! Hope you enjoyed your cuppa and are having a nice day!

Chelby: Oooh...Lake Charles and all that food sounds divine! My first vacation without my parents (went with a friends' family) was to Lake Charles and it is still one of my best memories. It was so much fun! (PS: My grandmother is from Okinawa and my mother was born there while my grandfather was stationed there!)

MomPOM: Have a great afternoon!

Schmoodle: I'm sorry about you and the goose. It's always a bummer to hit an animal in your vehicle. Hope you and DD are doing better! Great news from your friend! I hope they do some more scans to figure out what happened or where, if there was one, the mistake was made.

Stacy: Sorry you and your little one aren't feeling well. I hope you both get better soon!

Mizki: Hi! Welcome to the group! I look forward to getting to know you better!

Me: Well, the last day of my inspections in the remote areas of the county are done. Thank goodness. I could probably stand to go another day, but we're right up against our deadline and we would be rushing and pushing it to get it all done. I got into the office on time this morning and have been busy getting paperwork and the like together for next week. 3 of my appraisers and I are headed to Austin again to take our big exam that is the culmination of all the classes we've taken the past two years. After that, there's four more week-long courses and a final exam that covers EVERYTHING! (It's an 8-hour exam.) It's going to be tough, but I'll be a Registered Professional Appraiser after all of it. That will make me pretty marketable as long as our current system of property taxation remains relatively the same.

I'm doing my best to plan ahead for food. There is a fitness center, so the girls and I are planning on working out as soon as class is done (there is a state-sponsored review of the test materials the four days prior to the exam). We're planning on eating in our rooms for the most part, so I'm planning ww wraps and lots of salads.

Well, I need to get a grocery list together before lunch, so I'd better git!

ETA: Mythreesons: Congrats on your loss so far! 9 lbs in 3 weeks is a great accomplishment!!

Nothing special is planned for today. I'm getting work done as it comes in but also doing a lot of odds and ends for scouts. I talked to Robert yesterday. He's supposed to send me an email with what changes he wants in the divorce decree. I hope he does that today. If not, I might just call him again to see if I can get him working on it.
