So I just thought I would share a lovely little experience I had yesterday.
I went to my boyfriend's friend's girlfriend's birthday party last night. I knew I had to wake up at 7 am today, but I figured I would just drink a little bit and go to sleep by midnight and be okay.
So I am at the party, and I am a little buzzed (okay maybe more, 3 cups of wine). There is the food table in the kitchen. I was in the kitchen with my boyfriend, our good friend, and another lady. They had all types of food, birthday cake, chips, etc. So my boyfriend takes a cookie out of one of the bags and says "Man, these are so good! They are so moist!" So I walk over and pick about half of one up, and take a little bite. and I say "These are REALLY moist. They are almost wet. Do these have anything in them? (like drugs)" All three of the people said no. I take another bite, and I tell my boyfriend "Are you sure? They are weirdly wet". He says no, he tells me that I am trippin. So I am sure at this point that I probably am just trippin because I was buzzed off alcohol, and everyone in that room has experience and knowledge of weed, so I figured they were fine. So I ate one of them. One of the ladies even told me that they were just really moist because they were bagged right after baking, so they steamed up.
A couple minutes later, the woman comes in the kitchen that made the cookies. I ask her "Hey, how did you get these cookies so moist?" (as I am eating another piece). She says "Oh I don't know my daughter made them. She used weed butter of course."
I'm like OH MY GOD! Just to preface, I hardly ever smoke weed, and sometimes when I do I get panic attacks. I have NEVER eaten the stuff for this very reason.
So I tell my boyfriend "We have to leave NOW". AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY the woman looks at my stomach and asks "Are you going to have a baby?" I'm like OMG! I said "No! I know it looks like it because I am fat, but no." and she got really embarrassed. And of course my buzzed self cried about this fat thing in the car on the way home.
So basically I was drugged. Well, I ate drugs without even knowing it. IT SHOULD BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE that if you put food on a COMMUNAL TABLE with other food, you need to LABEL the stuff that has DRUGS in it!!!!
I ended up having a panic attack for almost two hours because I was UNCOMFORTABLY stoned. I didn't even get to sleep until about 3am. My boyfriend even tried to calm me down, and I was still panicking. Needless to say I will not be eating food at a party again without asking the person who made it whether it has weed in it or not.
Omigod. What effing idiots. What if you were allergic? What if the REASON you were asking is because you know you have a bad reaction to drugs? Why would people lie to you about that?
By the time you get into your 20s, you'd think that people wouldn't still be so moronically childish as to lie when someone asks "yes" or "no" drugs in this? Why would you TRICK someone into taking them?
I repeat. Effing IDIOTS.
I'm sorry honey, that totally sucks.
I have panic attacks occasionally.. never drug-related.
I've never done drugs, I've had plenty of opportunities, but I always just turned 'em down, I never felt comfortable enough with the people I was hanging out with when there were drugs around. Anytime I mention now to people that I've never done anything, even pot, they always look at me like I'm crazy. "NEVER? ANYTHING???" I guess that means I seem fairly normal (social, lots of friends), and most people assume that normal 21 year olds have smoked pot?
But panic attacks are HORRIBLE, and drug-induced ones must be tenfold. I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been for you!!!!
The woman who asked if you were pregnant. Chica. WELL DONE on embarrassing her. She embarrassed you? Return the favour. So much better than staying quiet and meek and sad in the moment.
Though I think it was a little self-deprecating to be all, "it's because I'm fat," I think it did the job to make her eat her f*cking words and shut the **** up.
And you... should never let anyone else make you feel bad. you're working your cute little *** off to get to a weight that you wanna be at, and she can go blow it out her butt if she's ignorant enough to make comments like that.
Holy crap that's crazy!! I can't believe that lady would ask if you are pregnant!! Maybe she was high as well? That's pretty rude to have secret drug cookies . Its weird how nobody even knew they had drugs in them... maybe they did know and they just didn't tell you? What a bad party :/
Thats a little ridiculous considering its pretty common for jobs to do random drug testing these days. We used to get tested all the time for track, if I had one too many coffees the caffiene would come up as a drug. I would be a little more than pissed off about that because I personally refuse to smoke/eat weed. I'm in college so obviously I'm around a lot of people who do all the time but thats a decision I've made because of what happened to my brother (he started with weed and went off the deep end with some other drugs, got in trouble and spent awhile in jail) If someone knowingly lied to me I'd punch their face in. But I'm confrontational and thats a huge deal to me.
What the ****..... those jerk faces. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope your reply to that dumb woman stays with her, and eats away at her, and makes her into a better person! My mom looks about 7 months pregnant because of the mediation she takes, and people occasionall ask her how far along she is.... RUDEEEE. How would they like it if I ask them how old they were when they fell on their head, and if the damage was permanent. OY. I would never even have thought twice about drugs in cookies on a table at a party... I'll keep that in mind for sure, but in my case, it's so I can eat them. lol
Oh my god!!! What the ****! i would have been furious at the fact no1 told me there was drugs in the cookies and the fact that lady asked me. makes you think when u go over some1s house, what they put in there food. hope u have a better day
Oh HAHA! Let me be clear, they DIDN'T know that it had weed butter in them. They weren't lying to me. They honestly just didn't know. Well, the drunk chick that told me they didn't might have been lying. But my boyfriend and our friend honestly didn't know. My boyfriend has experience with eating that stuff, and he said he honestly couldn't taste it (of course he was already so stoned when he tasted it that he probably couldn't tell). and our friend has a TON of experience with weed, and he said he didn't know. so yeah, they didn't lie to me. Believe me, if my boyfriend had knowingly lied to me about that, he would be out of my life. I probably would have called the cops on them if they had knowingly lied to me about that.
Wow. Had these people no consideration at all? Random drug testing anyone? That sh*t can RUIN a person's career.
To be fair to the other people you were asking, they may not have known either, if the woman wasn't talking about the weed butter with everyone else. But seriously, you'd think she would've warned your fellow partygoers about drug-laced food. Or stick a stickynote on them. That's just bad manners.
I'm sorry about this bad experience. I don't blame you for not eating other peoples' food again after this.
Ugh! I have experience with weed cakes (baked some myself in my time) but the basic, cardinal rule with that stuff is that people have to KNOW there's weed in it. You don't feed people drugs without telling them. You just don't. Some people totally flip out on weed - imagine someone who has been addicted to it. Or is pregnant. Or is prone to panic attacks or schizophrenia. I don't know... I think I'd call them a few days later to tell them it was a nice party, but that the cookies were a not-so-nice surprise. And that I'd approve of telling stuff like that clearly, before eating the cookies. You could even tell them you had a very bad reaction to them, thanks to eating them without knowing it. Good luck... I hope your stoned-ness is over soon.
Yikes! I'm sure the shock of finding out they had weed in them was enough to send you into panic attack mode!
I think in comparison it's pretty benign, but what if it had been laced with something more hardcore? That could seriously kill someone! Hopefully next time whoever put them out will think to warn people (if they aren't already too blazed to do so).
that would make me so so angry! And then the woman TELLS you about the butter and then asks if you're pregnant?? What if you were and u had just eaten weed?? Im not sure if weed affects pregnancy negatively if you eat it, but if i were pregnant i wouldnt want to risk it. That whole situation sucked for you so bad
Thats not even cool. Why wouldn't they advertise that there were drugs in them? People these days....
Ok this was my birthday weekend. I don't even want to talk about bad times while high! I have eaten 60 pounds worth of junk food since Friday.
Yeah I am so glad you guys all see it how I see it. My boyfriend said I should've asked, and I'm like "What? Should I just assume that EVERYTHING has weed in it, and ask all the time?" I shouldn't have to ask, they would TELL PEOPLE! Yeah, I am pretty mad about it. I will definitely tell the house owner about it next time I go over there. The chick that made them said if I was pregnant, that it would hurt the baby. So GOOD THING I WASN'T THEN HUH YOU STUPID B*TCH!
