Good morning! I haven't checked the weather but it is getting light in the South East so we will have daylight.
Today is Puppy Day and I have mixed emotions. I've "done" puppies many, many times and hate the thought of all the work but know I'll be enthused and excited when it actually happens. It can't be as much work as when Hershey and Lucy each had a litter (7 and 9) two weeks apart! I always made sure my pups were well socialized so they had lots of running free time in the back of the house. Because of the age difference, I couldn't combine the litters for playtime so they did shifts. It was pretty wild - and messy! By the way, I do have to change the name - Taz would become Tazzy and that's Aussie slang for ! He's only 4½ months and really doesn't know his name yet so it won't be a problem.
Reading back through yesterday's daily, I see both good stuff and bad. All I can say is "This too shall pass" or גם זה יעבור. Hang in there, Chickies - when you get to my age, it really won't matter.
Have a Super Saturday if at all possible. If not, do something nice for yourself.
Time for more coffee and a chat and cuddle with Disney to reassure her that she'll still be my Number One Dog when the newbie pup arrives.
If you've made the decision to go ahead and get Razz, then you know in your heart that you're doing the right thing. It's not extra work, it's extra love and care, and you have plenty of that! I'm happy and excited for you, and I hope he gives you as much joy as Disney does. Have a wonderful day, and let us know later today how it's going so far. OK?
It's raining, it's pouring, but the old man nots snoring, he's coughing instead. He says he's caught my cold. He still wants to go for our usual Saturday breakfast with the gang routine, though. I want to get to Trader Joe's today, too, to find that Soy Chorizo to make a recipe that CYNDIM suggested, and take a quick run through Walmart. I'll stop in to see how Mom & Dad are doing, too.
Good morning Ruth and Chicks yet to wake up. No coffee here yet so I'm not entirely awake. DP just went to get me some tea to hold me until there is good coffee.
I can't wait to see puppy pics Ruth I hope the new baby and Disney get along really well.
Looks like it will be rainy and VERY windy here today so I won't get all the walking in I'd hoped. I'll do what I can though both for exercise and to shop. It's a great little town for shopping.
We took a few silly pictures last night because i wanted to show you the top. Have a good day everyone.
Awe Ruth! Enjoy the puppy! It's worth it! (this as she recalls all the underbreath cursing she's been doing to cody!)... If the resident dog allows for the newcomer, the two will become fast friends and the puppy will help liven things up around there, especially the old dog!
Me: Well, the rainy day blew my thoughts to get the dogs to the park today for exercise. . Hope the rain stops enough to get a good walk in though!
I will be doing bills momentarily here, to get them out of the way, planning a menu, cleaning house, and shopping today. I'm hoping to relax a bit tomorrow and do more house cleaning. I need to run the car through the car wash, so I may leave the dogs here today, usually I take them with me on my saturday rounds! Poor things are cooped up all week, not fair!
Ruth - I'll be overly excited for you!! (I'm living vicariously thru you, ya know, until I'm ready for one!) Good luck!
Cottage - Enjoy your shopping!
Cyndi - LOVE the top! You are so skinny!
Lori - Make sure you take time for yourself this weekend!
Me - off to work this morning, then on call all weekend . Should be interesting, since we're joining the church tomorrow morning...hopefully, the phone will stay quiet! I never have plans when I'm on call... (hey, but I'm on call with Matt!)
Barb - Wow. If I could do anything to alleviate just a little of the stress that you must be going through, I would. Like Ruth said, this too shall pass. Be strong, girl. If it helps at all, try to take solace in the fact that you are teaching your son tremendous amounts of character and virtue -- something that is all too lacking in today's society. You are a model for parents everywhere.
Ruthie - puppies are so cute to combat just how freakin' insane they drive you! Have a great time with the new one.
Cottage - I hope your DH feels better, soon! Colds are no fun -- there is something nasty brewing as far as illnesses go, people are dropping like flies around us. Have fun at TJ's (take a whiff of their coffee for me..)
Cyndi - Hot mama! That top is adorable!
Lori - Morning! Have fun with your errands....you remind me that my car needs a wash desperately.
Twynn - Have a great weekend!

We are going to our nephew's swim meet this morning and will likely do lunch with the family afterwards. Wish him luck - this is his second tournament. Last time he came in dead last, but wasn't DQ'd like quite a few kids. He just learned to swim over the summer and is making tremendous progress.
DH really told the hard truth to his mom last night (when she called at 1 a.m.) about things that precipitated this divorce - he tried to be gentle with her, he even cried on the phone trying to get her to just listen to him instead of making excuses..but she just couldn't. I think we've been written off for awhile because we aren't staunch supporters of her (our family has made it clear that we do not want to choose sides and refuse to speak ill of one parent in front of another - which I think is the right course of action to take), which is very unfortunate with the holidays but more so because DS absolutely adores her and doesn't take it well when he can't see her for awhile. She refuses to answer or return our phone calls or emails. I hope that there is some resolution to this soon, although it looks like a divorce is imminent (because she is so concerned with her outward appearance and just makes excuses for everything!). My SIL told her kids this week, they cried. I'm just thankful that DS is young enough that he doesn't really understand. I just wish that MIL wasn't so self absorbed as to see what she is doing to her grandchildren and make an effort to see them.
My birthday is next week...I'm setting my eyes on the spa and trying not to let this get to me.
Good Saturday morning, everything is going pretty well for me. Sorry for being MIA lately. We've been super busy at the office and it doesn't look like it will end soon. I may be visiting on the weekends only for a while.
Ruth: Congratulations on the prospect of a new puppy. I'm running all the dirty words through my head to try and figure out what "Tazzy" is in Australian. I guess I'll have to google it! Enjoy your puppy day!
Cottage: Good morning! Sounds like you've got a lot of running around to do today! I hope Jake's cold isn't too bad and that he's not too much of a baby about it! Enjoy breakfast!
Cyndi: That's a really cute shirt!! We were dealing with the wind yesterday, but I'm hoping that it's run its course. Working out at the park yesterday was pretty miserable. Enjoy your day out!
Lori: I'm sorry the rain is keeping you and the dogs from getting out for a walk. I hope you enjoy your day. It sounds like you're busy today. I hope you have time to relax!
Twynn: Enjoy your weekend and congrats on finding a church to join! It can be such a hard decision to make, so I'm sure you feel it's really a blessing to have found one to call home. I hope you don't get called in!
Zeffryn: Good luck to your nephew!! I'm sorry about the situation with your MIL. I know it's hard for the three of you, but I definitely admire your resolve not to get involved in taking sides. Stay strong!
Me: As I said, I've been busy! We're in the middle of our inspection season at work and I seem to have girls in and out of the office daily. Things are going to get worse before they get better with the holidays coming up, but we'll get through it. We always do.
DH and I have pretty tame plans for the day. I've got some packages to ship off, there will be a stop at the grocery and then we're planning on going to the park to jog a bit. I've got two rooms to clean and some laundry to get done, but that's it. We're grilling fajitas for dinner and that's our day! Easy-going, the way weekends should be!
Good morning all!!! Happy Weekend!!!
Ruth - I know the dog is the luckiest in the world this week. You are going to make the best choices with him and I'm sure things will be just fine. Have fun getting him home an beginning the adjustment.
Cottage - Sorry to hear that dh is not well. Have fun with the friends at breakfast!
Cyndi - Great top! You look fantastic! Did dp sell any of her photographs?? How was the show!?!?!?
Laurie - Sounds like a busy Saturday. I hope you're able to get everything done, and have a chance to get the pups out!! Good luck!
Twynn - Cool that you all are joining a church tomorrow. I hope the "on-call" stays quiet so you can enjoy your time!
Zeff - So sorry to hear that MIL is not figuring things out quite as quickly as she needs to. Your poor dh must be miserable. Hang in there. Things will get better!
Me - Lots of errand running today and tomorrow, but other than that, nothing else is planned for right now, which is really nice. We've been so busy, and will continue to be as the holidays draw closer. It'll be nice to have a quiet lazy morning home.
I'm jumping into phase 1 for a couple of days next week. I'm not making the wisest of choices and if I continue down this road, I"m sure it will quickly become a slippery slope back to where I was. NOT GOOD!!! So hopefully a couple phase 1 days will kick me back into high gear.
Have a good Saturday. I plan to check in tomorrow!!!
BLESSINGS!
Ruth - enjoy your puppy. You will be tired tonight.
Cottage - Hope you get to go to Trader's Joe
Cyndi - was yesterdays reception tiring. I always find these things tiring, standing around talking to strangers,
Loriann - hope the weather clears up your way, nothing but rain here.
Tynn - hope your phone doesen't go off.
Zeff - its a hard thing you are going thru. Hope it settles down soon.
Kim - you sound like it a relaxing weekend.
Barb - special prayers for you.
Me - Yesterday DH and I drove to a Mennonite farmers market I purchased buckwheat honey (find it helps for a cough) and lots of leek. I will clean it and slice it, bag it in little ziplock bags and freeze it. It freezes very well.
I hope to finish weaving the silk scarves I have on my loom this weekend and finish plying the fringres. Will give one to DD for Christmas. She loves scarves and wears them almost year round.

Morning! I'm actually starting to feel better today. The dr's office called me last night wanting to put me on a steroid. I said "uh, no" since that would be the 3rd kind of medicine they tried to put me on without seeing me. My cough is finally starting to get better. I think I just have to get it all out of my system.
Today is going to be a day full of looking for stuff for the duplex and packing. We already picked out paint colors! I'm soooo excited. We get to start moving stuff in/painting next Friday. I get all warm and fuzzy feelings picturing how our Christmas tree is going to look in our front room.
Unfortunately, now Little Guy will be spending Christmas with his mother. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
Oh well. That just means we get him next year, but I was really hoping to have him this year.
OOH! We get to go see Santa at the mall today!!!! Hot diggity daffodil!
Ruth,
Although I said in my other post I wasn't aware of 'Tazzie', I have just had DS2 explain it to me. Trust me, the kids always know what's going on. Anyway it is not a Tazzie - it's a 'Map of Tassie' so there. And I can see where the problem might lie in downtown tourist trap Delta with the hordes of Ockers you get through there.
Just thought I would let you know 'I have seen the light'
I convinced Brian to go shopping for jeans today. I swear he hates to shop worse than I do but his 8's were too small and he only had one 10 that was in good shape. Time to stop wearing shorts since it got into the 30's last night. Now he is set with 12s that should last until he wears them out or a few years at the rate he grows.
I spent the morning going through the file cabinet. I still have one more drawer to do but I found $2600 in US Savings Bonds that Robert's dad bought him. I had Brian try to call his dad several times to let him know but so far there is no answer so he may already have checked out. As much as he owes me money, these belong to him and should help set him up in an apartment for awhile at least. I told Brian he was having to leave the nursing home. I'm glad he didn't ask me why I won't let him come home. I guess he knows why.
Sounds like everyone is enjoying this Cold and Windy Saturday.
Did a few errands was trying to find a new spray I saw advertised in Shape from Clorox that helps with pet dander in the house so we can keep the kitty for DD2.
I am probably going to be like Lori and Kim and probably here mostly on weekends because work is getting to busy with my new responsibilities.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.
Barb- just read yesterday posts and wanted to give you a you definitely need- stick to your guns and do not let him move back in- that is what is best for you and your son.
