And a Good Saturday Morning to all of you! I wanted to use this weekend as our Halloween weekend, since by next Saturday, Halloween will be "the day after." There seem to be a lot of parties scheduled over the weekend, anyway.
It's going to be wet, wet, wet, here. We're going out for breakfast and then doing a bit of shopping, and the remainder of the day will be spent curled up on the couch reading and dozing. I've been wanting to do just that for a long, long time, and today provides the perfect opportunity.
Ugh, I wish I could just spend the day reading and enjoying life.
We had to drop my son off at school this morning at 4am for a band competition he is going out of town for. I work all day, then we pick him up around 1am again. Long day for me. I think we're going to skip church Sunday. We went last night, though, so it made up for it. Next weekend, I get a mini vacation to the coast for a work-related conference, so I'm looking forward to that. One week to go...
((Ruth,))) so nice to see you drop in!!!!! How are you holding up?
Cottage, I also need to go shopping today, other than that, this house is crying "clean me, your neglecting me!"... Tomorrow I hope to curl on couch with the Bible and a book I'm reading.
Hi Noemi, my niece's name is Naomi . UGH< you can keep that schedule! Not for me! But then again, I've been getting up each night to let puppy outside!
Speaking of puppy, when we went for a walk last night we didn't get too far when a neighbor stopped us and invited us into her yard to let the dogs frolic with her dog! Puppy decided the two of them were too much for him so he was content to stay near me and chase the leaves as they fell or blew around! Tired both of them out good!
Quick check-in as I'm trying to get to the Farmer's Market before the nasty storm hits. Heavy rain and high wind warnings this afternoon - not fun when you live in the country. I really hope the power holds up.
Cottage - I love your afternoon plan! I may have to borrow the idea this afternoon.
Ohana - I love the coast, it's so relaxing and peaceful this time of year. What a nice thing to look forward to
Ruth We miss you
Loriann - I love your puppy stories
Kara - Small goals are such a great idea. I may have to borrow that one too. Have fun painting.
Just another day of errands and cooking and cleaning, what an exciting life I lead DP is doing pretty well - she's comfortable and definitely in less pain so everyone is sleeping better.
The nut free Nessa bars I made for DD turned out great. Hope she thinks so too because I think they weigh a lot!
Okay, I'll be back later if the power and cable stay on. Have a good weekend day!
Cyndi, right now I'm asking what? This big ole house and puppy is UNDER my chair, Jade is next to it and they are rough housing!!!!!!!! UM, take it to the living room will ya guys????????????
Cottage - the day you have planned sounds absolutely divine. Enjoy yourself.
Ohana - I don't think we've met. Welcome! Enjoy your day.
Morning, Ruthie!
Morning, Lori! How are all your new animals getting along?
Kara - we have painting to do as well...fun, indeed.
Cyndi - Did you see the post I directed towards you late last night in yesterday's chat? It was about making yogurt in the crock pot...sounds just up your alley Have a great day, pretty lady!

Today we need to go pick up some random stuff from our old house - we accidentally left some wine glasses in a cabinet. We're having friends over tonight around 9. I promised them I would make cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon - Men! I would also like to arrange the nursery as right now it is just a catch all for everything we don't know what to do with. A quick once over with a dust rag and the vacuum cleaner and I should be good to go.
Zeff, I only have one new animal, Cody, 12 week old Golden Retriever... full name to be registered Sire Cody Gurnall Walkington...
I found the meaning of Cody and said, "YUP" besides, I do like the name, even if it is number 7 most popular male dog names ... here's what I found...
Cody - great dog name. Associated with dogs that are gentle and mild-mannered. They are eager to please and want to be loved. Most codys are huggable. Origin: English. Meaning: Reassuring.
Zeff, How's the new house coming?
OH NESSA SWEETIE, WHERE ARE YOU?? PLS CHECK IN WITH US!!!!!!!!!!
The new house is great. So open! DS is LOVING the extra space and the windows are perfectly arranged to allow for a lot of cross winds when we have them open. It's nice to have the fall breezes flowing through the house. I did some "allergen-reduction" yesterday for DH....he woke up this morning and said that last night was the first night in a LONG time that he didn't have allergy problems.I guess new pillows with allergen covers and allergen covers on the mattress (after cleaning it with the Dyson) really helped! I've been running the a/c fan with a new Filtrete filter as well to help clean the air. A dog or two lived here previously and there was a LOT of stray dog hair on the floors - in the corners and cracks. The house feels so much cleaner since it is all gone!

ETA: Does anybody know if Lowe's or Home Depot will cut pieces of plywood if I buy it there? DS needs a new support in his car bed.
Zeff, unfortunately the week I had the kitty I woke up and couldn't breathe, my eyes were closed shut, broke out with rash, I HAD to get rid of her... I was saddened, and pissed, I spent well over 200 for her and supplies, vet visit! OH well....
Hey, as far as your bedding, I vacuum mine as well, And as I'm washing the sheets I spray the mattress and pillows down with water that has just a touch of bleach in it! You'd be surprised at what that does when you hit your head against the pillows that first night! Not to mention allergies!!!!!!!!
Glad your enjoying the house.
Jade's mad at me right now..... I gave her a bath. she's such a good girl, I was in the kitchen, and I told her, "Jade, bath" and she went into the bath tub and waited for me to show up and do what I needed to do. SUCH a great girl she is!!!!!!!!!! (but oh how she hates water, especially bathes!, I can't even get her to frolic in the water anywhere, lake, pond, falls,)...
We need to give kitty a bath...joy joy joy. It is amazing just how much like jello a 30 pound cat can become. It is like he removes his bones from his body just to slide out of our grasp. Bathing him is definitely a two person job. DH holds and I scrub frantically.
ZEFF!!!!!! NO!!!!!!! Why give kitty bath unless it has fleas? I swear, when I first got Gideon (my first, cat) I gave him bathes, then found out it's the worst thing for him! Cats by nature are clean and usually all they do all day long is bathe themselves! I stopped giving him bathes and he was fine for oh, 11 years (*first two years he got them, before I found out it's not a good thing to do). the only time is if it gets fleas, which I got lucky with my cats, never had that problem!
So why torture kitty or yourselves????? Please research it!
Edit, I've even had to stop giving Jade so many bathes. I found out too many bathes for a lab can lead to skin problems. I used to give her a bath every other month, now it's more like every four months. (I like her nice and soft, forced myself to deal with the feel of a dog for a month or more before bathing her today).
Jessie, hope we don't see you today! And of course I'll share Tom. He's happy rubbing anyone female.
Tom's mom asked us to go to dinner last night (woof) so needless to say, we didn't make it to the Y. Going this morning though. Gotta meet my dad in 35 minutes at the bank. Parents cleaned out their safety deposit box and found $550 in matured savings bonds that were purchased for me before I was born. HOT DIGGITY DAFFODIL! Cha-CHING!!!! But we'll go to the Y right after.
Ruth, my prayers are still with you.
Gotta get changed and scoot. Have a good day chickies! I'll check back later.
