Hello from Michigan
Hi,
I'm Denise, and I've been reading posts for a couple of weeks. Today I decided to join so I could actually participate.
I'm 52, and I was at a healthy weight all my life until about the last 8 years. Various health problems and accidents have contributed my weight gain, but I believe that I can lose weight and alleviate some of my health issues. I gained a lot of weight fast (about 100 lbs in a year), and still hardly recognize myself in the mirror. On the inside I feel like I should still weigh 130 pounds, but my body certainly doesn't look or feel the same. So I've more than doubled my weight, and want to be the active, outdoorsy person I was not that many years ago.
I'm counting calories, and plan to begin exercising by the end of this week. I'm going to move the Airdyne I bought a few years ago for physical therapy after an accident, into my home office. I think that will be a fairly non-stressful workout for just beginning. Actually, I never used it ~ but it seems like the logical thing to do now.
I'm looking forward to getting to know people here, and participating in some great discussion/support.
