Inspired by the Olympic Athletes

  • I'm not sure where to put this questions/comment because it does deal w/ exercise, but anyway...

I am amazed by the olympians. I know, it's like 'duh', but the things their bodies do! I'm willing to bet they weigh more than average person due to thier muscular build...

it's a perfect example of what the muscles can do.

My question: has anyone started to exercise, get active because you want to see what your body is capable of, and not as a method or supplement of weight loss?

IANA physiologist and I don't know how much more a heavily muscled person would weigh than someone of the same height but not so muscled. A short but very muscular person *would* have a body mass index that would put them in the "overweight" range however. Just my 2¢
  • I started exercise because it is healthy and is a nice adjunct to my nutrition plan for overall health and weight management. I am absolutely trying and pushing different activities though just to see what I can do. I lift as heavy as I can. I run as fast as I can to go faster. I am putting up more mileage to train for a half marathon this year and I am considering a full marathon next year. I am bicycling and thinking about 150 mile ride next year. And then a triathalon. So, while I did not originally incorporate exercise independent of my efforts to be healthy and at a healthy weight, I am definitely doing more exercise than I suppose others might to simply effect weight loss. I am very interested to see what my body can do.
