Unhappy I need to be determined

I am new here. I have an 8 month old daughter and seem to not be able to loose the baby weight. Before I got pregnant i was on ww and lost 16lbs, and was doing really good. It seems like this time around it's alot harder to get motivated, i dunno why? Maybe it's because im home all day? I dunno does anyone have any good tips to keep me motivated

Hm...well maybe you could take your daughter out in her push-chair and just enjoy the sunlight and early months with her out in the world. Good excercise and nice for you both

lala -- I haven't had children, so I haven't LIVED what you're living, but I definitely understand the feeling of being confined and stuff like that. Maybe try incorporating your daughter into your exercise routine? Taking her out for walks is a great idea. Also I know there are at-home exercise DVDs and things like that that incorporate the baby into the actual exercise (using their weight as resistance, etc.). I love that idea for you because it promotes bonding as well. Also, you're subconsciously instilling good fitness habits into your baby!! If she starts her life seeing Mommy doing exercise and it's fun, maybe that will continue into her adult life, as well.

You say that you're home all day...why don't you take some opportunities during the nice weather to take the baby out for walks, to a park, etc. A lot of gyms (I don't know if you're a member of one) have mommy/baby classes. I know that some that I've been a part also offer mommy/baby classes for NON-members that you pay for without having the get the full membership -- that's an option as well.

Do you have any friends that have small children/babies that are also stay-at-home moms/dads? Maybe you could team up with them to try to stay active?

I love some of your ideas! The thing about being outside, is that i live in south carolina and it is extremely hot during the summer months. I take my daughter swimming for an hour which i do use her to work out. But i will definately look into some dvd's that use my daughter to help me work out

Oooooooooooh I totally didn't figure that in, hahaha. Well...it's getting to be fall(ish) now, sort of? Or when it DOES get to be fall and cool off you can start adding more outside time in, and I'm sure baby will love the outside time with mom!!

Now that I think of it, you can probably get some of those DVDs on EBay for pretty cheap....babies get big quickly and moms probably can't use them after a while and look to sell them.

YES! I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THIS! until I went back to work from my maternity leave (my son is almost 7 months) I just found it really impossible to do much of anything while being home all day. You find yourself watching tv with a baby in your arms, you can't do much, what the hey! why not eat a whole box of wheat thins while watching Dr. Phil? I've been there! I'm not losing baby weight right now, I'm losing MATERNITY LEAVE weight right now! You absolutely have to get out of the house. Even if you plop her in her stroller and walk around the neighborhood for 15 minutes. she's old enough now that she can wear sunscreen. Also, dvds or even cable on demand (if you have it) are GREAT options while she's napping.

Good luck and if you want to trade new mom diet woes, feel free to pm me!

motivation is overrated. It's pattern that keeps you going. If you get into the habit of doing what your supposed to it will be easier to keep the behavior going. Alot of people don't devolop motivation until they've been OP for a few weeks and start seeing results. Just keep at it and believe the motivation will eventually come.
