This group is for those dealing with the challenges of having a significant amount of weight to lose and being fit which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.
Another winter Monday morning. But hey, the good thing is that it will be one less and spring is one more closer!
I worked on Saturday and was a slug yesterday. I did a few productive things but I was not very energized. This is wearing me down. I need to get a grip on the work situation because the harder I work to keep up, the more work there is and the more hours I could be working. DH has been pretty patient but I know he's getting tired of being here by himself so much too. Plus now its time for ME to focus on my health.
My goal for this week is to be out of work by 5:15 and not work on Saturday. The other goal is to relax with DH for a while when I come home, do some housework, exercise, and study.
I was up before 5:30 for exercise. I finally finished watching all of Alias and started on Grey's Anatomy this morning. I loved the first episode. I can't believe I haven't been watching this all along. Oh well, makes for great workout background. I did 25 minutes on the stationary bike. I know that I have to work more exercise in and I have to be diligent because changing food is just not enough anymore. Doesn't matter which plan if I'm not exercising. You'd think I'd get that. I think deep down, I know that but having a hard time accepting that reality.
Okay, the other reality I don't want to face this morning, is actually getting dressed and going to work. BAH! I'm off to shower and just do it!
Very quick because I shouldn't be on the internet at all! The bosses have now decreed we have to log everything we do, down to bathroom breaks, and I don't think "posted on my 3fc group" will fly as productive use of office time!
Anyway, it was a good weekend. Did lots of housework and laundry and such and that's good. Worked out Sunday and today. Okay so far with the food input.
Terri - It's winter somewhere in Missouri??? Here it's 74 degrees!!! But they say it'll be snowing by morning - stupid Missouri weather. Still, I'll take it over other places. My first hearing this morning was with a guy in Colorado who said they were getting 2 inches of snow an hour and had 88 over the last few days and 210 overall!!!
Got to run!!!
Good morning ladies, another dull winter day here. Actually it is warm for this time of the year and supposed to rain.
I don't have a lot to report but I wanted to come and say for Terri and Lilion and the workouts! Bravo! Gad I hate exercise!
I am still counting calories but I have tried to make most of mine plant calories. I want to see how that works for me. I am not really fond of beef anyway unless it is a hamburger in a bun with all of the fixings. I do love pork though. I am sure I don't need to eat that! I ate so much chicken and turkey, it is hard to swallow anymore. UGH! Now it is mostly veggies and such for awhile. My BP was so good this morning even before I took my meds. darn! maybe that is the key.I have not given up dairy though and won't.
Ok, chickies, time for me to go read my paper and get depressed all over again. Take care, Ruth
but fit here....
Im at 319 and 41yrs old.....boy is it harder to loose after 40 but also after the big "M" LOL although I was forced into the big M sooner than most......
does anyone else perspire on their face? and what do you do about it? Makes me so made! I feel like a pig when it happens in public!
btw my name is Bernice
my nickname stands for Dimples (on my face that is LOL)
Welcome Bernice, Yep, when I first went through the big M my upper lip would pop out in sweat...bad! Also on my neck. I would be cool and all of a sudden sopping wet! Not a good feeling, but it is natural I suppose. I only occasionally have those now. On the neck mostly.
You are so right, it is harder to lose after 40, but after 60...egads! Even TNT won't move it. LOL! Hope you stick around and let us get to know you. Ruth
I've been having trouble getting back on the horse, so to speak. You know the story - Focus is so easy to lose and so hard to re-gain. But the last couple days I think I've got the hang of it again.
Saturday was just an awesome day, starting @ 5:30 when I got up to go help my friend Barb with her stalls. Many hands make light work, and we took plenty of breaks and had a good morning. At lunch time I went home and hung out with my doggie-boys, and I FINALLY got my 2006 tax return from the state - YEAH!!! Then went to the barn, rode my big guy, hung out with people I really enjoy. When we left the barn, I kidnapped one of the girls for the evening because Barb had FREE tickets for the PBR bull riding event that night. It was a surprise for 14yo Shelby, who'd never been to anything like that before. You should have seen her face! After we dropped her off at home, we joined some other folks and stayed out till past midnight. So, the day started with chocolate, and ended with deep fried, but Sunday found me refreshed and relaxed, and ready to re-focus.
I went grocery shopping and bought all the things I was supposed to. I've made good meals up ahead of time so I don't have to think about cooking. I got up this morning and worked out, and things feel really 'In Place' to get on with this adventure once again.
On the sad side, I was changing after exercising, and there was an unavoidable mirror staring at me. Yee-gads!! I have no elbows!! When did that happen?? How long have I been living without elbows?? My arm bends in the middle, but there's just this funny wrinkle & bulge where my elbow is supposed to be!
That's it! I want my elbows back!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm making a big effort this week to get out of work at a reasonable time. Yesterday it was 5:15 and today it was 4:00! What a difference it makes.
I got myself a second pair of New Balance shoes. I was sitting in my office at work at lunch yesterday and noticed that people were out walking. I thought to myself that I needed to be doing that. So I jumped online and ordered a pair of NB slides. My intent was to keep them in my office so that I can easily change into them and get in some walking was the weather improves. I ordered them yesterday and they arrived today. I've been wearing them around the house tonight and I love them. Now I want a pair for home too. They really help since I have fallen arches and problematic feet.
I did some housework tonight which made me feel like I accomplished something. All this wet weather has meant lots of muddy dog feet. Even though we are working on clean feet at the door, sometimes they slip by before I realize their feet are dirty. Hard on our carpet. Oh my gosh, I even dusted in the TV room. During the week even!
And I exercised tonight. 15 minutes on the other stationary cycle. What is the world coming too?? I feel so much better having done the housework and gotten in the exercise.
On a sad note, there was a bad wreck not too far from our house. Its on the blacktop road to the east of us and a road I have been taking recently to get to work because it has less traffic. We had a lot of fog yesterday. A 47 yo woman rolled her SUV in a curve right beside the little country Baptist church. She didn't live very far from us either. DH went through later in the morning yesterday as they were pulling her SUV from out of the ravine. He is very weirded out about it since she was my age, going to work on a route that I drive.
Bernice- Welcome to the group!
Rainbow - back at ya!
Valerie - Oh sounds like a day that I would love. I am so ready for a horse day and not to be working Saturdays too!
Ruth - TNT Some days it does feel like that, doesn't it? DH made a wonderful dinner tonight. Do you like stir fry type stuff? He cut up a pork tenderloin (very lean meat). He cooked it in just a little soy sauce and no oil. Then he cut up fresh cabbage and added to the pork. In a separate skillet, he sauteed carrots, green onion, green peppers and mushrooms. When it was all done, we put it together in one bowl. It was fantastic. Oh and we added chunk pineapple. Lots of veggies.
Lilion - Geez, girl, you need to find a better job. Next thing they'll come up with will be quotas. Good job on getting back at the IM.
I better post this and get the doggies in bed.
to all!

We're getting a forecast of light snow, followed by ice pellets and/or rain, followed by more snow. We shouldn't (here) have been talking about spring when it was warmed up a fair bit yesterday.
Well yesterday at work they had Donuts in the workroom!!! YIKES!!! but even though one of the girls in my room went and got ONE for the three of us to share I opted out!!! YEAH me!
I ate tunafish with lemon & pepper on a slice of whole wheat toast & an orange.....later had some sunflower seeds and drank tons of my water!!!!
No excercise yesterday we had terrible storm blow through here.....dh woke me & dd up around midnight with the sirens going off outside....so we slept on the den floor with no power till 5am.....then got the call school was closed due to some damage to one of the buildings.....
today since we are home I'm going to challange my dd to a DDR match later for my exercise.
I did pretty well with eating early....dh was at class till at least 9pm so I broiled chicken breasts made some whole wheat pasta & green beans......I just had chicken & green beans along with some beets........drank lots of water.....even when dh got home early around 7pm & ate with the kids......I DIDN'T EAT again!!!! (which in the past I would of!)
but then around 9pm I was wanting somthing and I knew there was tin roof sundae ice cream in the freezer!! dh said well either you eat it now or throw it away......so of course I ate a bowlful DANG IT......but at least now I wont have it lerking for the rest of the week!!! LOL
Gosh I love this site and I know I will enjoy getting to know more of you as time goes on!
I'm up, did 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I didn't think I was going to make it through but mind over matter. The scale isn't showing any progress but I swear my body feels like its changing. So I just keep working at it - I know what to do and how do to this - now just keep doing it.
Dimples - That is great that you passed on the donuts! I was so shocked to hear of all the tornadoes and deaths from the storms down south. Glad to see that you're okay. How was the DDR challenge?!
Lilion - Great job on the IM and for staying OP. And for working so hard!!
Ruth - Did you miss the storms?
Anne - It has been a weird winter all over. Cold, snowing, icy one day or one place and warm, thunderstorms and tornadoes another. All on the same day.
