Default Tofurky

Years ago, I tried the deli slices of tofurky. It was so disgusting, I threw it all away. Imagine my surprise when I picked some up a couple days ago and realized they've improved the taste drastically. Tofurky actually tastes good now. Am I the only one who has noticed this change?

My kids like them, and the "ham" ones, too. They make decent sandwiches!

I've never tasted it. I've had a tofu burrito on JC before, and it was gross! What does the new tofurky taste like? Does it taste real?

It's been eighteen years since I've had "real" turkey so I can't say for sure if it tastes the same, but it didn't taste bad. We made sandwiches with a little mayo, lettuce, and tomato on whole wheat buns. The texture was decent, a little tougher than a thick slice of string cheese, if that makes any sense.

I love Tofurkey, although their sundried tomato Italian sausage didn't impress me a few years ago. I had a Tofurkey at Thanksgiving and even got my meat-eating parents to try it, and they were surprised how much like turkey it actually tasted! We couldn't get one for Christmas so I made a veggie meatloaf, but Tofurkey's products aren't half bad. Reminds me, though, I should go finish up my Tofurkey slices in the fridge today.

Happy New Year!

I don't buy them too often (I try to eat whole unprocessed foods as much as possible) but I really liked the hickory smoked slices. I also like to sautée the Italian sausage links in a little EVOO and toss in pasta, so yummy! I've heard the roast with stuffing can be a little rubbery so I made a soy and seitan roast from scratch this last Thanksgiving, totally worth the effort, store bought never tastes as good as home made IMO.

Oooh... I had no idea they made Italian sausage links too. I'll have to try those. I haven't eaten real turkey in many years, so I've forgotten the taste of it, but I think tofurky is a bit tougher. However, I think it tastes fantastic. I've been having it on a sandwich for lunch this week.

On Thanksgiving, I had the Tofurky Roast with vegan stuffing and mushroom gravy. It was much better than I was expecting. If anyone is looking for holiday substitutes, then I highly recommend it.

Omg the sliced Tofurkey is disgusting.
But the Tofurkey loaf that comes out for thanksgiving? Sooooo tasty! I have no idea why the difference between the two products is so drastic!
