Default Protein Shakes

Maybe you guys have discussed this before, but...

What is your favorite protein shake? I am mostly interested in the brands that can be purchased at GNC, Wal-Mart, etc. (not online).

The only kind I ever tried and liked is Designer Whey french vanilla. Once I found it, I never tried anything else...so two years later I am curious about other brands! Maybe they've improved in two years LOL

Muscle milk is incredibly good.

Also Optimum Nutrition makes some good ones. I like the chocolate mint one...and I've heard they have an egg nog flavored one that I'm dying to try...just can't find it anywhere.

I've also used PVL (I think-from Walmart), the vanilla and the chocolate ones...I found them to be not too bad. The vanilla mixed easier than the chocolate though.

Actually, I've been lucky that I never really bought any that tasted horrible. Remember with GNC too, if you buy it and don't like it, you can return it.

I do like the Muscle Milk, but I have only seem them pre-made in cans. Do they make a powder form? The cans are SO expensive. I haven't seen the Optimum Nutrition kind.......where do you buy that?

I've tried Nectar (the juice kinds...fuzzy navel, roadside lemonade) and they made me totally nauseous....couldn't stomach it.

I made a "natural" flavored one this morning with Designer Whey....EWWW! Couldn't drink it. Got maybe 25% of it down and I was gagging.

Do protein powders "go bad"? Mine was expired but I don't see how they could really go bad. Should I throw the expired ones away or does it even really matter?

Unjury!!! I love it!
I make instant coffee. . .(or you could use regular) add a pkt of splenda 1/2 cup of milk then when its cool enough I mixx in the chocolate unjury and stir till combined cinamon and a splash of vanilla extract and it feels like a Shi Shi coffee
150 calories and 24 grams of protien!! it also doesn't make you bloaty like the atkisn ones
the atkins premades are good but $$$$

Default well, I like it.....

My daughter and her husband hate protien shakes of all kinds but I like several...the expensive ones are the Glucerna for diabetics, walmart has a knockoff but still...pricey. The one I used the most during my 6 month, dr. supervised diet was body fortress 100% whey protein. Both the vanilla and chocolate are good and I got them at walmart. I haven't had the surgery yet so I don't know if it will make me dump...I hope not, they are good.

Kiers, Wonder if I could whip up a chia tea that way. I can't do coffee. I was pregnant with my first kid and caught a whiff of coffee at a restaurant and threw up on their dining room floor and haven't been able to stomach coffee it since. Of course, could never eat at that restaurant again until they changed owners.

My favorite proteins are the Nectars (I mix them with Crystal Lite) and Matrix Choc and Vanilla. Liked the sample of Matrix Cookies and Cream. I like Micellar Milk, but feel it was too expensive. I like the Profect Bullets and Whey Bullets, but there has been a lot of discussion about rather it is a good quality of protein.

I saw that GNC has the muscle milk light powders on sale now. I think I'm gonna buy some of that. I love the pre-mixed kind but it's so expensive. The light muscle milk is much better on calories than the regular. Has less protein but we can only absorb 30 grams at a time anyway so not a big deal.

Nan I'm sure that would work well with Vanilla. I tried a variation on it today with using 8 oz of milk and the usual suspects. I like it better with a cup and half of water and 1/2 cup milk but I'm over a year out so I can sip on 2 cups for a while. its just less thick that way!
Chai tho made with 8 oz of milk at and a protien scoop (and splenda) is a bargain at 190/200 and 30 grams protien! (Milk has 9/10 grams and Unjury has 20)

OK girls........I found the solution! Still want to tweak it a bit, but WOW...this shake was mighty tasty!

I bought Vanilla Creme' Muscle Milk powder from GNC (it's on sale...nearly 1/2 price right now). The guy at GNC (who, by the way, had muscular arms almost as big around as my HEAD) told me to mix it with peanut butter because it would taste great.

So...
I mixed the powder with 1/2 milk and 1/2 water ( to cut down on the calories since I'd be adding peanut butter)....and then I put two tsp. of splenda, 4-5 ice cubes, and a big scoop of peanut butter and blended it in my personal-sized blender. OH MY GOODNESS......very good!! Next time I will add more Splenda, but seriously, I could handle drinking these all the time!

All in all, it had approximately 35 grams of protein when you count the peanut butter. Of course, after the RNY, I only absorb about 30 of those. But I am so happy to have found the magic formula!! WOO HOO!!
