..............swimming!!!! Hey this is serious stuff, actually went and bought a new swimsuit from Asda (Size 22) and went swimming with a girl from work, 30 lengths in an hour........we had to do a bit of stretching and chatting..............I feel so much better for going, I hope I can make it a regular thing!!
I hate swimming. I hate getting wet. The smell of the chlorine in the water gets my gastric juices going, I work off 100 cals, come out and eat 1000. The water is never warm enough for me.
I will stay on dry land
Its brilliant if you can do it, and you obviously can - well done to you, but its not something I'll take up
I feel conscious of my size too but once I got in the water I forgot about it anyway each time I go I will be a little bit smaller..I am still thinking positive......I am a bit stiff this morning!!
I must admit the water was cold, I had to keep swimming to keep warm
The power shower was good afterwards though, it makes a change from those dribbly things I remember.
Strangely enough I couldn't sleep when I went to bed, I felt so awake and full of energy. Wish I could say the same about myself this morning.
I have promised myself that I will start going regularly again when I have lost another couple of stones and can fit back in to my size 16 Baywatch red cozzie. I am very much the same as Jano, though - swimming makes me really hungry.
The only problem is that if you do it to tone up your muscles then of course you won't lose weight so fast because muscle weighs more than fat.
Good for you TQ. I love to swim and have made a pact with Ray that I will go once a week. It's not a hardship to go, it's just organising everything so I can'escape' for a little while.
I know what you mean about forgetting about your size once you got in the water - It's that intial walk from the changing rooms to the pool which is uncomfortable.
My swimsuit is only a size 20 - I am a generous 22, but I could feel a difference in my suit last week. Sarah - if myself & TQ keep this up we'll be looking to borrow that little baywatch number.
Muscle does weigh more than fat, but it burns up calories, while fat just hangs around there doing nothing. I'd rather have the muscle any day of the week - if only there was an 'easy' way to get it? All this exercising is hardwork.
Can I introduce myself? My name is Debz and I live in Leicestershire. I am 38 years old, married with a young child. I weigh 17st 10lbs and I am 5'6". I have been lurking for a couple of weeks. I must say, I really enjoy reading all the posts, they are very inspiring. I hope you don't mind me joining in.....?
I have re-joined SW last week, it will be my first weigh in tomorrow night. I have not had a particularly good week. I find planning is my main problem. I am very busy and I find it gets to 5pm and I think 'Oh Sh*t! What shall we have for tea? We end up with take-away's about 3 nights a week!!
I have re-started swimming again though, and I really enjoy it. At the pool nearest me, they have adult only nights, which are great.
Has anyone tried Aquafit? I try to go at least once a week. I love it. In the classes I go to the people range from 20 up to 60's and they are all shapes and sizes. I am not quite the fattest there in a size 26.....
I look forward to talking with you all. Take care for now.
At SW they used to say you could save sins for the weekend, but since I re-joined this time they say, if you go overboard at a weekend, just go straight back on it the next day, and not worry about it........(Think I would rather save a few sins up for it instead). I think they don't want you to go off diet every weekend!!! That's the reason.
This is me, Peachey, I have just re-joined under my own name.
Hi Debz
Welcome! How nice to have a new 'face'. I just borrowed the SW booklet from a friend of mine who has got down to her target weight and it looks really interesting - especially the Green days.
Would you like to join in with our weekly weigh ins? If you would then perhaps you would like to post your details on the Weekly Weigh In thread. If you don't want to then thats fine as well!
Hi,
I've been lurking for a while too. I'm 5'7" and 15 stone 5 pounds. I've lost 6 pounds with SW since the beginning of the year - I love it. I'm vegetarian so follow only green days and have never felt so healthy, un-deprived, or happy on a diet! I avoided it for ages, hating the concept of 'sins' but now I'm an avid follower.
Anna
Well done on losing 6lbs, Anna - and welcome to 3FC.
I am very tempted by SW, but I think I will stick to my usual diet for a while longer.
I don't like the word 'sins' either - I wish they had called it just about anything else - but 'sins' is such an emotive word. After all no food is actually sinful - the problems only set in when we eat too much of it.
I am following WW at the moment, but I am hearing such positive things about SW, that I am tempted to change over, if and when I get stuck in a rut.
Sarah Ann (keep seeing you name and thinging who is that ) I too am interested if you swap over, let me know. I don't have a SW near me, so if I do change I will have to do it by post.
Any tips/advice would be greatfully received! Can you stick to just green days? I like the thought of unlimited pasta and potatoes. I admit that I have cut down on rice because of WW.
I'm using WW too, but am willing to look at alternatives for when I get stuck in that rut - usually after a couple of months.
There isn't a SW near me either - so spill the beans and tell us a bit more about it. I read somewhere that you can have a tin of macoroni cheese for a 'sin' Don't know if I could handle all these green & red days though - I need to be very flexible in what I eat. I can never stick to those diets they print in the magazines, far too rigid for me. But I am open to ideas.
