So.... some of you may remember my, I joine you all in August or late July, i'm not sure. Well, after only a 2 pound loss, I started teaching again, and started taking 3 masters classes (yes, i'm crazy). Well, with my busy busy life, I fell of the wagon. For some reason I put my health on the back burner. But, I had a wake up call. My aunt under went the lap-band surgery and after losing 55 pounds in 6 months, I was thinknig seriously about having the surgery. I spoke to a doctor and everything. Then, I woke up one morning last week and said, I am 23 years old!!! I should not have to put my body through that to lose weight. If I am willing to go through a surgery, I should be willing to cut out the foods that made me this way. So, from that moment I hae been great on the SBD. I have lost 7 pounds. Today though, I was very tempted to go get a big burger and fries. I resisted and ate chicken and a few sugar free popcicles but I decided it was time to join you all again for some understanding and support! Hopefully I am here for good, I really need this! It's bad when your kindergarteners are asking if you are having a baby or eating too much food.

Glad to have you back. You are right, you can do it. You are young and a busy woman. Just pick what works for you and keep thinking by christmas you can have a new outfit. Works for me.
happyteacher, I remember you. I think you made a great decision against surgery. I guess for some it is a last option, but I had a friend that went through gastric by pass and it was really gruesome and in the end she did not lose much. Surgery is very scary to me, so I would always try everything else first. I'm sure you can do this, you have already made a great start! Keep up the good decision making!
Sometimes kids are the best mirrors - they are so brutally honest! Think how excited they will be to see you shrinking throughout the year!
I started SBD while working full time and taking a full load of masters classes. It's do-able! Though Kindergarten has to be the toughest grade possible in terms of energy--I always came home totally depleted when I subbed for Kindergarten teachers! I think you made a great decision--though surgery is the best option for some, like you said, you're young...and it's worth trying an easier way first to see if that works before undergoing the rigors (and risks) of surgery.
Congratulations on the seven pounds, and on making a great choice last night! That's awesome!
Welcome back! I think that you made the right decision to try and eat healthier before having the surgery if you still decide to do it. My sister had gastric about 2 years ago and has regretted it since. Of course, she is happy that she lost weight. Well over 200lbs, but she is very disappointed in some of the things that have happened to her body since she had the surgery. I think it's always best to try out all of your options before considering doing something so drastic. Of course, you can always consider it later if you choose to do so.
Again, welcome back to the beach, every one will be here if or when you need help.

You can do it!! congrats on the 7lbs kicked to the curb!! I have had several at work that have had the lap band!! and one had it removed , then had gastic and had to redo it two days ago!! she has had a lot of problems. Good for you on making the decison to do it the healthy way and you will. BE DO AND HAVE . BE COMMITED AND DO WHAT IT TAKES TO GET YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO BE THE HEALTHY WAY. Well for all it is worth this is my two cents.
Have a great day and stick around.........support is one of the biggest keys for sucess.
