Default I want PEANUT BUTTER!!!!

Okay, so I totally have a ton of calories left for the day and really want some peanut butter, but I don't have any!!!

Anything you guys can suggest? I also do not have any nuts on hand. I'm at 1,200 calories and should be at about 1900 for today because it's a hardcore weight-training day.

Got some suggestions? I'm also only at 14 fat grams so I'm doing really good for the day..most of the stuff I eat is fat free or VERY low fat.

What's something not TOO bad, but a really good treat?

If you don't have any peanut butter now, this won't help. But when I crave peanut butter I have sliced apples with some kind of reduced fat or natural peanut butter.

Don't get reduced fat Jif - they take out the peanut oil (which is good for you) and substitute sugar (bad). Reduced fat still has the same calories as the regular. Get Smucker's Natural or another one where the only ingredients are peanuts and salt.

ditto have real natural pb, not lowfat artificial pb. Anytime you substitute sugar for fat you arent doing yourself any favors.

ah, ya know I've never looked at the ingredients because that's the only thing my mom ever bought when I was growing up. Occassionaly she would buy natural but not very often. That does actually sound really good.

I'd love to take a slice of whole grain bread and put on some peanut butter and a few blackberries...YUM!

Sheila stop it! You are making my mouth water, and I have no blackberries and only full fat peanut butter...

Tis otay....I have no peanut butter and no blackberries either...well, I DO have frozen ones.

I will have to wait for another day. I did however have a peanut butter chocolate meal bar that was 160 calories and hit the spot tonight. I know, it's a glorified candy bar, but it was at the right range for calories and had peanut butter!!

I was just getting ready to say the same thing! Reduced fat peanut butter of any kind is less fat because they remove peanut and put in sugar!

If you can't take the taste of natural peanut butter right away, because you are so used to the standard kinds with salt/sugar added, then a good "inbetween" brand to slowly adjust your taste buds with is Simply Jif. It is halfway between the standard kinds and natural. It has less salt, less sugar, etc. than original.

Sometimes it takes a while for your taste buds to adjust-like going from 2% milk to 1%, then finally to skim to slowly adjust to the taste difference.

I really enjoy the Arrowhead Mills Valencia peanut butter. It has no added ingredients, but is naturally much sweeter than other natural brands I have tried.

Natural peanut butter only! The only ingredients I want in mine are peanuts and salt. Yum, yum, yum.

Now that you've fixed your craving, my suggestion for a peanut butter snack is 2 Ryvita crackers each with 1 tsp of peanut butter. It's one of my favorite snacks and I eat it often. A little fiber, a little protein and some fat and 127 calories. A downright balanced mini-meal

Thanks for the Arrowhead Mills suggestion -- I'll look for it.

It's funny, but regular Skippy or Jif PB tastes like peanut-flavored Crisco to me now.

I adore a tablespoon (16 grams - I weigh it) of natural PB with a sliced up, crispy, juicy apple.

I don't eat this product that often, but I found something called Better'N Peanut Butter via the HungryGirl website. It's much lower calorie and much lower fat, and while it probably isn't all natural it cures the craving in moderation (it works for me since I'm restricting my calories and fats so much). Heads up - it's very sweet but I like it that way. I find mine at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods but I've seen it other places as well.

Hope you don't mind me butting in but I totally agree with your PB-flavored crisco for Jif or skippy. I had to buy one of those instead of my norm due to $$ and just can't stand the taste of the other stuff. I like my natural PB much better.
