Smoothie recipes?

  • Hi everyone!!
Just wondering if anyone has any good low-cal smoothie recipes??
I'm looking to find new ways to get fruit into my daily intake and I can't think of a more yummy way!
    Thanks
    Julie
  • Easy Frozen Fruit Smoothie
    • 1/2 cup nonfat yogurt
    • 140g of unsweetened frozen fruit (around 3/4 cup, chopped if large pieces). You can use whatever fruit you want. I used a combination of frozen raspberries and mango.
    • 1 tsp to 1 tbsp sweetener. I used sugar-free Torani vanilla syrup but you can use whatever you want. If you use sugar, splenda, or another artificial sweetener, you probably only need a teaspoon. If you use honey or syrup, you probably want a tablespoon. Add a little, taste, add more if needed.

Stick it all in a blender and blend until all the fruit is pureed. If it is too thick, you can add 1 to 2 oz (two to four tablespoons) of skim milk to thin it. You could also throw in some wheat germ, ground flax seed, or protein powder (and adjust the calories accordingly).

This makes one serving at about 200 calories.
  • This is what I like to do:

1/4 block of Mori-Nu lite silken tofu
    1/2 a banana (frozen)
1/2c berries (frozen~I like to use blueberries)
    1/2c soy milk
    1T flaxseed meal
    pinch or two of cinnamon

Blend and enjoy! Depending on what berries you use and how big your banana is it should be around 200-225 calories.
  • OOH! Those both sound good!!!
    Thanks so much for sharing
  • Hi Juliebee!

My recipe for a great smoothie:

    1 cup of skimilk
1 frozen banana (it gives a sugary taste)
1/4 cup of low fat strawberry yogurt
    egg white
    3 graham cookies (optional)

    Enjoy!
  • How about blending some watermelon with frozen raspberries and a hint of lemon juice to make a watermelon-y lemonade smoothie? Maybe if you froze it, it could be like a sherbet or italian ice type treaet?
  • For non-dairy low-cal smoothies, try replacing any milk with unsweetened almond milk. It only has 40 calories per cup and it tastes great. I can usually find it in the aisle with the soy milk.
  • Graham cookies!!!! Yum! That's so different. I'll have to give it a try.
    Thanks Meggy!

Thanks for the idea! I usually drink soy, but at 40 cals/cup, unsweetened almond milk sounds like something I should try!
  • Juliebee- Is that your pug? It's so adorable. We're looking for a black one to go with our fawn one!

My smoothie goes something like this:

    frozen raspberries
    frozen mango
    a bit of strawberry yogurt
    half a banana
    ice
    ground flaxseed

if it's too thick I add a splash of skim milk

    Hi Tinky!
No.. it's not my pug. I just thought he was cute! I looove dogs! Sounds like you do too

That sounds yuuuummy. I'll have to try it out. Thanks for sharing it
  • this is my recipe and it's lower in calories than the ones posted above. This is amazing and everyone always loves them!

2 cups your choice frozen mixed fruit/berries
    1 can diet sprite/7-up/Fresca
    1 banana (optional)

That's it! It's great with our without the banana.
  • Here is my favorite:

    *Strawberry-Banana Smoothie*

    1 small banana
1 cup frozen whole strawberries (frozen in bag)
    1/2c. apple juice

Add ingredients to blender or smoothie maker, and blend until smooth. Serve in a large glass.

This is great if you are having trouble getting your fruit servings in-because it has 3 servings of fruit, and nothing else!
