Good morning, Little Chick, and thanks for cranking us up.
It's going to be a scorcher around here today and tomorrow looks the same. I had planned a trip to town this morning but have a rather listless dog so will stick around home. Lucy was sick in the night and now is just curled up on her bed and sleeping. That's not at all like her! I'll keep an eye on her today.
What's happening around your Beach towel? Are you keeping cool?
woke up at 4... could not sleep
watched the news so sad about Chris Beniot. (he was a WWE wrestler) they are saying he killed is wife and 7 yr old and committed suicide... my husband had met him when he wrestled many years ago before I knew him.
Ruth- I hope Lucy is feeling better soon. I think we are going to have thunder again today. Although the sun looks like it is going to pop out.
Nessa- that is a sad story, I hate to hear stories like that, it amazes me that someone can kill their own child. Hope you have a great day. Work at 6:30 I was just dragging my butt out of bed so that I could give dh a kiss before he went to work.
me- I am going to start packing for my trip, 4 more sleeps. I am getting so excited.
Morning gals! Today is my eighth wedding anniversary! Why am I sitting at the computer, you wonder? Tom's at martial arts, so I'm not being anti-social. However, the kids (frustrating children of God that they were today) are in bed and the house is cleaned up (save for the laundry that needs to be folded and put away).
I'm anxiously waiting for my husband to arrive and eat his dinner so I can have some of the chocolate covered strawberries sitting in my freezer. I got the recipe off South Beach's website. I swear!
HHH here today, I'd better turn the air conditioners back on! I have some Tex-Mex pork chops for Jake's supper baking in the oven right now before it gets too hot. He can just reheat them later, I'm working late (polo night) and will have either Taco Bake or Chicken Divan when I get home.
It's going to be an easy week, with the girls in camp all morning. Yesterday afternoon they both got their hair cut, and they look adorable. Audrey's hair was down to her waist and she wanted to donate it to Locks of Love, so she's excited about that. We had to look it up on the website for her, she wanted to see pictures and learn all about it. Both girls love their new "do's" too. About chin length with bangs, it will be a lot easier to take care of, especially for the summer. They look so different, though!
Nothing special happening here today, I'm going to do a quick pass-through cleaning and then settle down with my new magazine. That's about it. Got my Curves in early, so don't have to feel guilty in the exercise department!
Happy Anniversary Kara! 8 years? Ah you're still a newlywed!
Ruth: I hope it's just the summertime blues for the furkids.. at least you have a good reason to slow down a bit today.
LC: oooh I'm getting excited tooo... cant wait to hear all about your trip`
Nessa- have a happy day...
Cottage: Watch out for those "Poloponies" ( I hope someone remembers that classic from The Honeymooners!)
This morn I'm off to take Darbydoooo to the Vet to have her staples removed.. and work my way through the clothes closets and drawers... Pizza burgers on the menu tonight!
Littlechick: Thanks for starting us up! I love going on trips, but hate to pack!
Ruth: Poor Lucy, hope she feels better. Sick furbabies are so hearbreaking!
Nessa: That is a really sad story. I hope you're day isn't too wacky as I'm sure you could use a nap!
tomandkara: Happy Anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful evening together!
cottage: Sounds like the girls ended up with really cute new dos! Those Tex Mex porkchops sound delish. Are they in the recipe section?
Schatzers: You one funny lady! Hope everything goes well at the vet!
ME: My posting has been very sporadic lately, but I'll try to get better. I have hearings from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm the rest of the week, so I may not post much those days. Last year I got to work and didn't even turn my computer on!
Things have been going pretty well SB-wise. Had a bit of a budget crisis, so DH and I had to eat what was in the cupboard. Which meant white rice, some pasta (Yikes!) and LOTS of tuna! I've maintained my weight loss, though, so not too bad. Things will be looking up for us in July.
On to good news, I finally got to try out water aerobics last night and I LOVED it! I'll go again tonight, but won't be able to Wed & Thurs due to the hearings. (Geez, I hate those things!). After this week, though, I plan on going Mon - Thurs throughout the summer at least. It's such a great workout and I love being in the water. Makes me feel weightless!
Well, off to work. Going in a little late this morning due to all the extra hours this week. Have a beachy day!!
Kim, I've only done water aerobics while pregnant, but I loved it for the same reason. I felt like I got a great workout, but it wasn't hard on my body. I need to start swimming this summer. We go to the pool a couple times a week and all I do is sit on the side of the baby pool and watch the younguns. I need to just dive my butt into the lap lanes and doggie paddle my way around for a bit! Maybe I'll make that a goal for next week...
Nessa and Cottage, I've donated to Locks of Love three times now. The first was on our honeymoon! We left after the wedding and my hair was so long I could sit on it and when we walked back into my parents' house, Tom was carrying my ponytail and my mom nearly had a fainting spell! I'd had long hair since kindergarten. I think cutting it was my little "I'm independent now" statement.
Happy Tuesday, Ladies and Happy Anniversary, Kara! My son teaches martial arts (aiki jutsu)..hence the knee surgury last month.
He started taking the class at the universary when he was in 8th grade, then started teaching it when he was a junior in high school (he's now a junior in college) he was testing for his 3rd black belt, went up the the air and came down with a crunch! My Mommy fear went into overdrive, but I didn't scream and stayed quiet like Beau told me to if he was ever hurt...then another guy said "Mom, I think it's time to go to the hospital" and I had that boy in the car so fast!! It still surprises me he got into martial arts. He is a very gentle soul and as a little guy was only interested in books, dinosaurs and bugs..no athletics at all. He has planned on becoming a priest since he was very young. Never dated in high school except for proms and other big events..
then a young lady joined the aiki jutsu class about 6 months ago who is a carbon copy of him and it looks like law school (for both of them) instead of the priesthood as of now.
I got up early (3) to catch up on work I missed yesterday afternoon because of the eye thing. I got caught up and just came in from mowing the grass in the back and am headed off for breakfast. My Mother in Law is supposed to come visit in a couple of days and stay for a few days, so if I don't get any other urgent work to do, I'm going to make sure the guest room is all perfect and start other "deep cleaning" today..like baseboards, etc.
Hey all...it's been a verrry long time since I posted anywhere except the what are you reading? board. Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I am playing with the idea of trying to do SBD again. I've been trying to do WW, and I plan on staying in the meetings and everything, but I HATE counting. I've been doing WW core which is mostly SBD Phase 2 anyway. SO maybe I can ease into it again. I haven't gained weight in the last few months (thanks to those weekly weigh-ins) but I haven't lost either and I can't get into my clothes from last summer. ACKKK! Bye, bye bread!!
Good to see familiar "faces" and not-so-familiar ones. Hi everyone.
I just fixed something for breakfast I thought I would share.(Today is one of those "dig in the fridge" days!)
I took a WW tortilla and "fried" it in a little evoo in a non stick pan. When I flipped it over to cook the other side, I put a little mozarella cheese on it. When it was crispy, I put it on a plate and put some turkey and some tomato based vegetable bruschetta on it and rolled it up...it was really yummy and crunchy and full of good flavors. I'm not real big on breakfast foods every day.
