I've created a small goal and I'm going to bribe myself by getting my nails done when I reach it. So there, stupid you-can't-do-it attitude! *blows raspberries at self*
I think that we all do that in some respect, I will get this done when I reach xxx weight. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself because you love yourself.

I was about to say that bribes don't work for me either- EXCEPT for a tattoo. I don't want to get one until I lose the weight, so in a way that's my "bribe". Also, I'm a strong believer in waiting forever to get a tattoo. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was to draw a picture of what you want and where you want it on a piece of paper and give it to a friend to show you in a year. If you can still remember what you want and where, then you're ready for the commitment of a tattoo. If you can't, then it's not something you really are ready for. So I guess it will be a year at the very least before I'd even think about getting ready to get a tattoo and my best friend has a drawing of the tattoo I want. :P
Other bribes don't work for me because they tend to be more expensive than I can afford and in the past, I would counteract that with cheaper food rewards for things done well, like good grades or a good report at work.
I'm all about the bribes, Kara! I just ordered a shirt and camisole set for myself from my favorite catalog to celebrate 5 lbs. lost. I ordered it in size medium instead of a large so I will be able to "shrink into it" even if it is a little snug now. And if it isn't, that's even better. When it gets too large, I can take it in or just pass it happily along to a friend.
The other times I've lost lots of weight, I've gotten an article of clothing in a smaller size and let my self shrink into it. It's a great feeling to finally get it on and see it fits!
I'm not sure what I'll be doing for my next 5 lbs. but I already have my 20 lb. reward picked out and waiting to be ordered. I can't wait to get into that one! A 20 lbs smaller me is so much better looking than the me who sits here today, and she's going to look great in that spaghetti strap dress!
