Bribes...not ashamed!

  • Bribes can be great motivators! I got myself a new running skort as a reward for finishing a half-marathon, thought it would be a good way to achieve a goal, and keep myself going.
  • Rachel, that is awesome that you ran a half marathon! That's way more than I could ever imagine to do!!!

    Kara
  • Running is addicting!!! Once you do one race you will be hooked!!! I was training for a full and broke my foot needless to say I DID NO TRAINING and walk/ran the full in October! It was horrible! But I love to race
  • I can't believe you broke your foot and then did the race anyway! Were you healed by then?

    Kara
  • NO!!!! It has been a year and it is finally feeling better! I am running the Disneyland Half early September and the Nike half in October! Not running for so long is what made that tickers below get to be 225! That is just silly running with all of the extra weight on my poor little (big) feet!
  • You are amazing. I ran two miles today and was just about dying. How do you do it???

    Kara
  • WAH-HOO! Check it out, chickies!!!

    Kara
  • YOU GO, Kara! Love to meet those mini goals! A mani-pedi sounds lovely. Are you doing both?

    L
  • Go Kara!
  • Just a pedicure. I don't get my fingernails done unless I'm dressing up and going out because somehow they don't stay nice for longer than two hours. I think my three kids and obsession with keeping my house clean contributes to this problem...

    Kara
  • OK, I have a new goal but now I need a new bribe. Who's got an idea?

    Kara
  • Well, if I ever had time to put on make up that would be a splendid idea! New shoes would be fun. I've been eyeing these cute Sketcher sneakers that are $50. I haven't wanted to spend the money, but heck, if it's a reward, then I've just gotta, huh?! Good plan, Megan!

    Kara
  • So, I think maybe some bribes would be good for me- at least to commemorate milestones. I'm trying not to think of it so much as a bribe but more as a gift to myself. Granted, this is just a plan and I probably WON'T follow it because I can't bring myself to spend the money, but thinking about it is good, right?

202 lbs: down 10% body weight - 1 item from MAC or Sephora
199 lbs: onederland! - hair at a Newbury Street (Boston's version of Rodeo Drive) salon.. even though they have a student discount so it's a $30 hair cut for what would normally be $80 or up, it's a HUGE deal for me since I've only ever gotten my hair cut by myself, a parent, or Great Clips!
180 lbs: down 20% body weight- 1 item from MAC or Sephora
174 lbs: overweight!- 2 alebrijes/Oaxacan wood carvings (I collect them)
158 lbs: down 30% body weight- get hair completely done... dyed, cut, permed, whatever
145 lbs: normal body weight as per BMI- another piercing
135 lbs: at goal weight and down 40% body weight - whole new wardrobe and spa day

    And non-scale goals:
    3 months maintaining- TATTOO!

average wrist and forearm size (as of right now I can't wear bracelets because my wrists and forearms are so thick that it looks stupid)- nice silver charm bracelet

size 8 ring (my ring size now is 12 and that doesn't even fit my middle finger)- silver/titanium ring with blood-free diamond

lose 3 inches on neck- strand of pearls

Some of the things are relatively pricey jewelry and, it sounds spoiled, but my grandfather has the money to spare and has always been very conscious of my weight (not in a mean way like most other members of my family, but in a grandfatherly way) so he may "sponsor me" with some of those things... I've never been able to wear any kind of "nice" jewelry because it accentuates areas that are not so accentuatable so that's mildly important to me. Plus jewelry lasts a lifetime so I'm more apt to spend money on that than other luxurious things.
  • My goal will be a pedicure and new outfit when I reach 200. It's a while off but maybe I can afford it by then. I think goals are a great idea to keep motivated.

Nessa~Love the tat on your shoulder. It's so cute. I have always wanted another one (on my lower back) but not really sure what I want to get. My first one I got when I was 17 is of Pooh and Tigger on my ankle.
  • Allie, sounds like you're on your way! Maybe print them out and post them by your fridge or cabinet!!!
