Default when is everything is not ok? (rant)

before i begin i would not want any of you to get any bad ideas or think that im trying to seek attention, just an opinion. im losing weight, great. im feeling better about myself, great. health wise.. i have not been doing well. most of the time i feel tired, even to talk or think.. everything hurts for no reason now, i get exhausted quicker now than when i was bigger, i feel sick all the time (dizzy spells) not a day goes by that i dont have to hold myself from something around me before i drop.. literally. and no it is not 24 hrs a day but at least once a day.. i mean what the.. is going on? i thought i was suppose to be feeling healthier.. ?? the only reason i can think of is my calorie intake but im not starving myself.. i eat around 1500 calories which i think is not a lot but fair enough for my weight loss to continue..

i dont know if im explaining myself or just rambling but i dont know why must i feel like i have to trade my well being (inside) for my well being (outside).. like i feel better about myself now, im extremly happy that im losing weight.. im more outgoing now, i do more things ect ect but physically (inside) i feel like im losing it. i dont think im ok but i dont think i need to see a doctor because its not like im dying either. have any of you experienced this weird image to health trade off?

You aren't eating enough. It kind of sounds like low blood sugar - at least, those are my symptoms when I go hypoglycemic. I think we'd all really have to know what you're eating to know anything.

Also, how much do you exercise? It does worry me a little that you mentioned anorexia.

It could just be a phase. How long has it been happening? I haven't been able to sleep for 2 weeks. Sometimes you just feel tired.

My first thought is that you are not eating enough. When you have these moments, you may want to eat a piece of fruit, or even better, something with protein. I'm pretty sure you would still lose weight even if you added 100 cals to your plan.

Maybe you're not eating enough, indeed, since it looks to me as well as low glucose levels. Are you very active? Given the current weight in your ticker, if you exercise more than you used to, you may also need more than 1500 calories to fuel your bodies.

If you're not sure, maybe a blood test would be in order. It may simply be a lack in a specific nutrient. The body is such a complex machine that it's hard to tell, without much more information, what may be happening.

It may well be that you have developed a health problem such as anaemia or problems with blood sugar that is coincidental and doesn't have anything to do with weightloss.

It does sound like something to do with your diet, however. 1500 calories at current stats isnt a lot - someone 100lbs lighter might feel faint on that if they were working out! Are you spreading calorie intake out throughout the day/is it slow release carbs?

In all honesty, I think that you need to see a doctor, just to make sure that everything is okay with your body. Then you should adjust your diet and exercise accordingly.

Hi pinupdreams. I am sooo sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.

You've done a fabulous job with your weightloss efforts. FABULOUS. According to many "calorie calculators", which I despise by the way, I find them highly generalized and inaccurate, 1500 calories SHOULD be a sufficient amount to susatain you. So, I kind of doubt if that is the problem, but you never know.

I really think you MUST consult a doctor. You really need a full check up with blood work and all. A doctor will be able to help you. Please, please make an appointment ASAP, like FIRST thing tomorrow morning. You are losing weight for your health, so health is a concern for you. You now need to see a doctor for that very same reason. No one here on a website can tell you exactly what's going on. You need to be examined by a doctor. Please don't hesitate. It may be something very simple that a doctor will pick up on. You shouldn't go on suffering.

The problem with going to a doctor is that I can pretty much guarantee that any doctor worth his salt will first suggest you raise your calorie level. He's going to want to test the obvious possibility first!

I am much lighter than you, and I tend to get dizzy/weak on 1500 calories. I imagine it could be true for you as well. Something else to look at might be to consider adding more fat and/or protein to your diet. They keep blood sugar more level and may help the issue.

Fatigue can be caused by tons of things (diet related or not), so a checkup is definitely in order. Another thing you might consider, since you said it isn't a constant thing, is keeping a health log. Not just what you are eating, but how you are feeling physically and emotionally.

A few years ago, I was experiencing extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain and other odd symptoms (like losing short term memory and spelling ability), which was eventually diagnosed as fibromyalgia, but at the time they were too vague to pin down, and I couldn't seem to communicate them well to my doctor, as I was often told it was stress from working long hours, or it was my weight, or allergies. I was kind of griping to a coworker and she suggested logging symptoms so I could document them for the doctor and/or notice problems myself. She recommended Healthminder from amazon.com, and I ordered it (though in hindsight, taking a look inside the book, which you can do online at amazon, I could have just as easily developed my own, especially since I ended up doing so only a few months after buying it, to customize it for my needs).

Anyway, this is when I first noticed patterns in the symptoms. Some I had long known (like sweet foods making me sick in the morning, and losing all control over food for a week around my period), and some were things I hadn't noticed such as not feeling well after large portions of dairy, or feeling a little nauseous if waiting too long to eat. I also saw that I definitely had a monthly pattern of mood swings that I hadn't noticed before. (Now that I'm married, husband definitely notices, but still I tend to assume he's just coincidentally a jerk more around my period).

I know that was a really long response to a simple question. I tend to be longwinded and have to tell a story where a simple suggestion would be sufficient, so hopefully there was something in there you could use.

you really need to see a doctor for a complete workup especially if you have lost so much weight.

that being said:

are you drinking enough water? I swear I feel horrible if i don't drink enough water... I found that although it's a pain to have to stop and go potty every hour that if i drink 3-5 litres of water per day i have more energy and feel much much better even i i don't change any of my food.

also i find if i eat certain foods such as wheat corn or sugar i feel very sluggish and stuffy...

I don't think that is necessarily the case. I think the first thing a doctor will do is take your history and do some blood work. This may have nothing WHATSOEVER to do with the amount of calories that you are eating and any doctor who would tell you first to raise your calorie level without looking at test results would be highly incompetent IMO. Highly.

Pinupdreams you need to see a doctor. A qualified one at that. There's no tradeoffs here. You deserve to be a healthy weight AND feel good. Please see a doctor - sooner rather then later.

That sounded to me like how I felt when starving on 800 calories for months, but you mentioned you were eating 1500 calories. Maybe raise your calories to 1600-1800. Or maybe even higher. If you're over exercising that might be it. And you should eat a snack after you exercise.

I would definetly see a doctor what you are experiencing may have nothing to do with your diet but see a doctor to be sure and put your mind at ease.

No surprises here...you need to see a doctor. Dizziness is something that can be indicative of many serious issues (or it could be something very simple!) and being in pain all the time is not acceptable. Since none of us is your personal medical provider, we can't really help YOU at all!

Let us know what the doctor says

You don't have to be dying to see a doctor... I'm adding my voice to the suggestion that you go and have a check-up, even if you're not fond of doctors, an annual check up is a good idea b/c if there is something going on (God forbid) catching it sooner is better than catching it later. Maybe you could consult a nutritionist too to make sure that the calories you are getting are the best they can be

Good luck
