yes i had the same problem on flex. at best, inconsistent results. although i gotta say that your gain sounds like water weight to me. but still, yes i know the feeling of seeing the scale iiiiinch down, shoot up, inch down, etc.
core isn't hard necessarily, but it requires more work and more planning. by work i mean cooking and prepping food, and also working to find things to modify to be core friendle because it is easy to get in a food rut with restrictive diets. i personally like the food a great deal and if you keep adherence to the programs equal, i have seen better results on core. plus i find myself generally eating better. i get my oils in and good fats and lots of dairy and veggies, whereas before i shied away from stuff like that because it ate up all my points.
give it a shot for a week or two. (it took me about a week to get accustomed and then i really saw a loss the second week). then if it is too hard to manage go back to flex. but you should give it an honest go.
