Abs?

Mine are doing great! After all I have them carefully tucked under an inch or two of padding.

lol! JUNE is abs month

OK, hiker, you have me on a mission. I'm really enjoying reading this site on Oympic lifting. Go get a broom handle!

Oooooh! and check out this link to old, forgotten lifts! They look fun Add a bosu ball for excitement! Seriously, a lot of those lifts look pretty cool and could be adapted to dumbbells. I've done a lot of the "buddy lifts" when I train just to keep it interesting.

Hello all. My abs are safely tucked under a protective layer. Yeah, definitely shopping for a one piece again this season. I can’t wait to start swimming again! It used to be my preferred (well, ok only) mode of exercise. I don’t know if I mentioned this before but my new condo association has a pool and clubhouse. I’m so freakin’ excited.

I’ve been a little down about the lack of weight loss progress lately. I know I probably just need to change things up and not be so lenient with myself on the weekends, but I don’t know. I’ve been on this “plateau” (is it even called a plateau if it lasts almost a year?) for so long I feel like I’ve forgotten what losing is like. Perhaps it’s the motivation and consistency I’m lacking?

Mel – Thanks for those links, I’ll be checking them out later.

Hope everyone is staying protected against wildlife attacks!

Hi LWL,

Abs ? Aren't they the things underneath the rolls??

I've been good again today, went to power class. However, I am exhausted and did not do apart from food-shopping (BBQ at my place next friday, 15 people coming) I hope i am less tired tromorrow. maybe it's because of the hectic time I had.

Have a great day all,
rabbit

Happy Wednesday all!

I'm working from home today while my upstairs bathroom bath gets regrouted - cleaning it up for my guests next weekend has turned into $500 of regrouting and repairs!

But, I have to remember that this house is my investment, and it's better to spend that kind of money on a house than on the car!

Got my cardio in this morning, but felt pretty light headed about an hour afterward, and I had already had breakfast! Not sure what was up with that, and now I'm just hungry, despite already having had lunch!

Have any of you tried the Kashi brand frozen entrees? I really like them, with the exception of the sweet/sour chicken, which was just waaay to sweet for my liking - I wrote to them and complained about the amount of sugar in a food that's marketed to people who are eating healthily. They sent me coupons.

Anyway, most of these meals are based on the Kashi 7-grain pilaf, which I just love, so that's probably why I like these so much. I got them at Sam's club, in a pack of 6, but I will definitely buy more.

I'd better find something to drink to curb these cravings - wish they would go away!

Hi! It's a sunny day here, at least so far. Yesterday started this way too and turned cloudy/windy by the time I got off work.

Cindy - nice to know those Kashi dinners are good. I've seen them in my grocery. My problem with any frozen dinners is that I got burned out eating them - had waaaay too many years back. Now I can only handle one every few months. I ate a nice filling breakfast of oatmeal with walnuts, which usually holds me well, but this morning I was hungry. Fortunately, I'd brought 1/2 banana and that seems to have done the trick.

Rabbit - glad you're progressing with your exercise.

For all those worried about been seen in a bathing suit, you need to move to Alaska! Not much chance of me wearing one unless someone invites me to a hot tub! The only pool I have access to is at the HS and I don't go often. There is a lake about 20 miles from here with a so-called swimming beach. The kids will go in, but I seldom see an adult in the water higher than their knees. It's COLD! I've lived here for 34 years, and gone swimming outdoors voluntarily only once (in the above mentioned lake). I've fallen in the water boating or fishing - not a pleasant experience.

Pat - I also love that little glimpse into the Alaskan weather...I love checking out that view once in a while. And no bathing suits? Hmmm...do you accept Canadians with no green card?

Cindy - Yay for your loss! I've been struggling at the same weight for months and months. Probably because I let most weekends ruin my diet. I've seen the tiniest bit of movement recently and desperately waiting for the day when I can post my new "under 130" weight!

Lydia - I think you had the same goal as I did...are you making any better progress than I am?

Went to my favourite power class yesterday. Now I don't know what to do today? Probably some cardio?? This is my dilemna every week. Since the power class is basically a full body workout, doesn't that mean that I should really do any strength training the day before or after?

Have a great day everyone!

Cindy – Congrats!

Good luck with the cleaning cardio. I’ll be doing some of that tonight. My dad will be spending the night and dropping off some furniture for our new place. Then we’ve got three apartment viewers coming at various times tomorrow. Busy ‘round here! Just me and the dog here this weekend, df is heading back east to visit his sister and our new little nephew.

Spring weather is being its crazy self around here. Yesterday as I was driving home I saw an amazing lighting show, followed by a brief pelting of hail, then blinding rain. I was a little concerned I wouldn’t get my run in, but luckily it had cleared by the time I got home, it was clear, sunny, cool and a bit windy. My 3 mile route is finally starting to feel a little easier. Couple more weeks and I’ll probably be able to tack on a little more distance.

Hoping to get a little something done in the way of lifting tonight before all that cleaning.

Scale looks like it might be down a pound, keeping my fingers crossed.

Default I'm back ...

Hi LWL - I am back. My MS seems to be under control, I am doing cardio 4-5x a week and lifting 2x a week plus yoga or Pilates most every day. Next Tues I am starting to "Beck" with some folks here (see General Diet Plans) and am getting excited. Cognitive Behavior has done wonders for other parts of my life, why not my weight?

I hate to have a date goal, but, truth be told, I do ... My niece is getting married Sept 1. My *almost* nephew is my old trainer, and, yes, I introduced them at the Las Vegas Marathon in 2005. Woo Hoo I am hoping for 30 but will take anything more than 1. I know my health is most important and I have been learning to listen to what my body needs and when. Rest when tired, move whe lethargic, eat good stuff when hunger, drink teas when the yen is more for "flavor" than eat junk. See? I am learning .... Oh, and here is my latest venture: www.train4dc.com. Nelie - come walk with me ANY time you want.

Good to see so many of you still here. Hi to those I don't know.

Hi Ellen,

Wellcome back !!!
Cognitive behaviour... yeah, did wonders for me with the burnout & the depression. I still dip into it occasionally for anxiety attacks.

Looks like you learned a lot of good stuff.. Very glad to see you back!
