Default scared (do i belong?)

Hello.

I'm new (obvious much?). I have a lot of issues but the most stressing right now is my weight. I weigh approx 190 [bmi 29.8] and feel that i have approx 50 pounds to loose which would put my bmi at 21.9.

The trick is that I have a history of having an eating disorder. My lowest bmi was 15.0 and my highest 39.2.

I'm currently struggling with binging... and wanting desperately to get rid of this extra weight without resorting to my previous weight loss measures.

On the lighter note... I'm going back to school soon to pursue social work. I have a cat and a boyfriend and am from the East Coast (NYC) and am in my late twenties. My boyfriend recently told me that if i gained 50 pounds (like he recently did) that we wouldn't be sleeping in the same bed together. Not sure what to think about that.

I hope I am not kicked out of here.

Welcome to you too. Yup, you read lots and you'll find a few threads where you'll fit in very well.
Tell us a little more about you and well see if we can help. What are you planning on eating and doing for exercise. It might be my imagination but ... I think these chicks flock together by what they are doing, moreso that what they are .... did that make sense?

Yes, that made sense. over the past year I lost 50lbs but I quit smoking for new years and gained back 10 so I really want to lose that plus some. I have a very busy schedule, I work full time at a middle school with special needs children and when school is not in session I work at Easterseals with special needs adults. I also attend college full time nights. When I have some free time I like to spend it with my Grandbaby and my family. That about sums it up

Well, you could join us in the Featherweights section. Most of us either have a just a bit to lose or we're down to the last few pounds.

What kind of eating plan are you on?

Well I try to watch my carbs and I am semi following weight watchers point system. I belonged to them years ago and it does help me to get back on track. Gotta go now and spend some time with hubby, thank you Susan for making me feel welcome and I hope to talk with you again soon

nah, i didn't quit. i thought no one responded to this thread. guess i had my options checked wrong in my profile. finally decided today to come back.

right now, i pretty much don't do any exercise except for running errands. i have asthma and am on three medications for it - but that still limits my activities. plus, i live in the desert and it is 90 degrees today. i cannot afford a gym membership.

any ideas as to what i can do? there are two pools in my complex, but i don't own a swimsuit and am afraid of purchasing one (what a scary experience).

in regards to food... i am currently restricting. trying my damnest to stay away from fast food. i am huge into crystal light (on-the-go) on putting it in my water to make it easier to drink. i am currently drinking about 60-100 fl oz of water (with crystal light) a day. i don't drink soda and am doing my best to stay away from starbucks (i would order an iced non-fat latte, which is about 150 cals when i went). i am addicted to chinese food, which i try to satisfy that craving by getting lean cuisine's - not take out. i like spinach instead of lettuce as that's 470mg of potassium. i like cheese, ham, grilled chicken, and ceasar salads. i went to the grocery store recently and found fat-free ceaser dressing. i also like chocolate, but i am doing my best to stay away from it.

i am currently a size 16, down from a 20 when i moved to this state.

that about sums me up (weight and food wise atleast)... off to venture to other areas of the site.

Don't feel bad! I'm glad you came here. I've starved, too, about a year ago, but I never got skinny. I've starved and binged a lot. But I'm trying to lose weight healthily now. I'm just starting to try to adopt new changes.

Just stay around here and you'll lose weight steadily. And for those pools, buy a swimsuit and wear clothes over it! Wear your clothes in the pool!

Swimming is great cardio

Please keep coming back! This place is a good influence to do the right thing for yourself.

thanks gamer. i am gonna look more around and see if i can get/offer support. i've been looking for a place like this for awhile.

i got to a real low weight with my eating disorder and had to be tube fed. i don't want to go back to that - my unhealthy habits. i need to stay out of the hospital. and all the eating disorder support forums i belong to are flooded with just other eating disordered peeps and i cannot handle that in my life right now. i need some real-time advice, if that made sense.
