Hi guys!
No one had started the weekly thread yet, so I thought I would do it
I hope everyone had a great, fun, restful, and happy weekend!
I visited a friend in Austin this weekend..what an awesome city! I thought I did a great job working out and eating..I worked out Saturday and Sunday and got in some great long runs. We ate out at all of these great restaurants and I didn't overeat, which is a major accomplishment for me. It was fantastic to try all these different foods and not stuff myself and feel guilty about it! Anyway, I was feeling really good about myself until I weighed myself this morning..and I was up two and a half pounds!! I know I should be happy just being in control of my eating, but I feel like when I am not starving myself I continue to gain weight! I got in a good workout this morning, but it would be an understatment to say my motivation is pretty low right now I hope everyone has a good Monday
Michelle: Great news on the long runs..that's great!
My weekend was FULL! We shopped allllll day on Saturday.. OMG did I get a TON of new clothes.. wooohoo!! It was a blast and the kids were awesome as well as the husband.
I found a lady in my town who is wanting to get back into being a personal trainer so she was in need of one other person to be a guinea pig.. I signed up! I'm going to be her guinea pig along with another gal i know. I can't wait!! We have a meeting on wednesday evening to discuss schedule, etc.. Can't wait, can't wait!! One of the best things is there is no charge since we're helping her out! Woooooooooohooooo!! She's done this in the past but has since gotten out of it and is wanting to get back into doing it full time.. I'll be MORE THAN happy to help her out.. She will be doing me SUCH A HUGE favor! Can you tell, i'm psyched?! LOL This is just what i'm needing.
This week is going to be hectic. As they all are. Hoping to get some good exercising in. DH has decided he wants to start eating healthier and losing weight again.. I'm hoping he follows through this time. I know he can do it!
Miss Michelle - I can't wait till I can run a long way without getting out of breath. When I do run I feel so FREE, and I LOVE IT! But, it usually doesn't last long. WTG on not overeating! That's great! And don't let 2 pounds get you down. You can lose that! Don't beat yourself up over it.
Amber - That's awesome! I wish I could get a personal trainer. But, I don't really like to be pushed that much. I like to do things at my own pace...but then again...look where it's got me. LOL. That's great your hubby is joining you in your goal. I wish my partner was more into losing weight as I am. Seems she isn't as motivated as I am... =/
Went on the treadmill earlier, did 2 miles - 40 minutes. Feel great. About to eat dinner in a bit. Might have left overs from the other night. Veggie steak strips, brown rice, boiled squash, and red pepper/onion. Dunno yet. Still thinking. :P
Michelle- great job on the long runs! I'm going back to spinning tomorrow morning, and I can't wait! I think my vacation gave me the break I needed to get psyched up about it... now if I could only get psyched about giving up the "white" foods again
Amber- I am SO Jealous! I paid a much too much for my trainer, and it's almost over :'(... good luck and keep us posted on your fabulous, personally-trained self
Brooke- I wish I could do the veggie thing... but alas, a carnivore to the core... good job.
I need to get over my vacation mentality and back to reality... I didn't make good food choices today I tried to be good at lunch, but the soup was awful and I ended up eating fatty popcorn this afternoon.
I went to the grocery store after work and bought whole wheat-double fiber bread and some turkey. What do you all eat instead of chips or crackers with sandwiches for lunch? I can only do salads so many days...

Michelle- Sounds like a fun weekend, and I wouldn't stress too much about being up a few pounds. There could be a lot of reasons it could be up, and since you did well this weekend it is probably not 2lbs of fat. I know the numbers are frustrating, but try to focus on how good you feel away from that.
Amber- Oooh thats exciting about the person trainer. And about your DH wanting to get healthy too. I'm sure that will make it a lot easier.
I'm sooo tired lately. I'm getting a cold, so hopefully thats all it is and not something worse. I went to the gym today even though all I wanted to do was take a nap. ance: I did the next workout for c25l and it was a little harder this time than last. I probably shouldn't have skipped the gym all this weekend.
I wish I would have eaten better this weekend, but I followed some basic rules. I stopped eating at 10 and I only had 3 meals and 1 snack each day. There were just a couple of slip ups.
Ok, off to bed! Hope you ladies have a good start to your week!
The image above is a banner I made for everyone to use that is part of the January Challenge.
Feel free to put it in your signature or anywhere else, like your blogs.
Keep up the good work!
Work hard. Live Healthy. Stay Positive!
Michelle- I don't know about you, but traveling (flying) always makes me go up a bit. There has got to be some scientific explanation! Glad you had fun in Austin- great music, great food, great scene. Way to go on working out while there, too!
amb- That is so cool about the personal trainer!
Lizzie- Hope you can kick the cold- just don't wear yourself out!
Didn't have a chance to work out this weekend, although I was super busy. I will pick up with my "training" for the 5k today. I may take a look at the C25K again to get an idea of where I'm at. No one is going to let me talk myself out of it, mainly me
This is the first morning in a long time I've voluntarily gotten out of bed before the afternoon. I'm glad I did because I need to start getting back on schedule and I hope that it will help me sleep better. Today I've got a lot of running around to do before I go home to see my parents, but I've definitely got to get a work out in before I go.
Last night everything was going so well until I got a phone call that woke me up. After that all I could think about was that last piece of pizza. Grr @ myself. I got up, ate it and then couldn't get back to sleep till late. It was not a shining moment for me and my vow to demand more of myself in 2007.
My Mini Goals for Today- 45min cardio/lower body at the gym + No eating after 10 + No alcohol.
Jen- I'd never done C25k before last week, but I really like it!
Hey guys!
Thanks for the kudos on the long runs..they were great, though my knees have been sore the past two days..I think it might be due to running on pavement instead of the treadmill. Hopefully it won't last long! I have been running in the mornings for the past year or so, but with the new project I am on I actually have time to exercise after work. What time do yall usually exercise? I've been noticing that sometimes at night I feel better when I am working out - like it's less of a chore. My only difficulty is making going to the gym a priority when everyone else is going to dinner - so far it hasn't been a problem. I also find that when I eat dinner after I workout I eat waaay less and am not tempted to eat dessert and bad stuff. I am going to try this night thing for a while I think
Trns - I love the banner!!
Lizzie - I found this great quote yesterday that really re-dedicated me to treating myself well in the new year. I posted it on my blog if you want to check it out
Jen - How's the training going? You already run a lot right? Are you working to improve your time?
illini - How was giving up "white" foods? I am reallly trying to do that, but I eat at a cafeteria for lunch so sometimes its hard to find whole grains. I've been bringing my own bread down for the past week, which I might keep doing When I have a sandwich for lunch, I like to have carrots, fruit (apples mainly), or whole wheat pita chips...you can find ones with protein + fiber at places like whole foods!
Back on track day...can you believe I am off track already? Going to the gym during lunch hour need to get some cardio in then going to get a training run in tonight. Yep ladies I am pulling double duty lol! Check in later, have to work for now.
Michelle - Thanks for getting us going! I heard something shocking the other day on the news that may apply to both os us. It said that people who have been dieting for long periods of time and over exercising most of the time may have messed up their metabolism. It said when they return to eating normally (although in moderation) and exercising normally they may actually gain weight! Eeek.
amb - That is awesome about your PT friend, I am excited for you too! And a bit jealous lol, be sure to jump on here and share all her nuggets or wisdom.
muzik - Your leftovers sound pretty good! WTG on getting the run in.
illini - I am not very good about lunches I am a diet frozen meal girl most of the time due to lack of time.
lizzie - Whata girl going to the gym even when feeling under the weather Thats my girl! The c25k gets harder and harder believe me lol!
maja - Nice to see you around here girly! Thanks for the graphic.
jen - Thats right girl back on track, you and me both. That Nike run is going to come up sooner than we think!
Yikes Steph! That would be scary..though I can see how your body would get used to burning and intaking a certain number of calories a day and change your metabolism to make that work..though I can't say I've ever read anything on the topic Has anyone else ever read that???
Congrats on a two a day!!
Totally random I know, but where did 2006 go? Though I'm not complaining about the year being over, it was definitely a tough one for me and the people I care most about. So, I'm very optimistic about the new year and everything.
I haven't been posting much, but I've been "lurking" and trying to keep on top of everything and I picked up a fun little "challenge" in the Biggest Loser thread, but other than that nothing new. Just enjoying the holidays and the break from school and SOME things but not everything...
Well, I'm rambling, just wanted to check in and say hello!
Just finished doing my second 30m treadmill workout today. Whew. My feet are tired. Not used to this, but....I will soon. I think they say 21 days is how long it takes to pick up a new habit. Am I right on that one? I dunno. Anywho. Hopefully ya'll are having a great evening!
