  • Niki, I saw Phantom and Les Mis 3 times. I love going to the theatre. When I was a kid, my gf and I used to usher at the theatres in Detroit. We saw Ethel Merman in Gypsy and Sir Laurence Olivier in Becket.

Frouf, glad you had a good time. We've done the same thing at restaurants, aren't we nasty?

I just spoke to dil in Kitchener and they are having yet another open house. Oh, I wish they would just sell the place, I'm crossing my fingers. Kids here are bringing Natan over and they are going to Montreal for the day. I told them to have dinner out, so they'll pick him up around 8:00. I took out chicken, but Bernie just called and requested burgers, so I'll do both and freeze the leftovers.

Okay, better get dressed for my boy.
  • Saundra, I usually go with my mom but since I moved a hour away from her it is real hard to go since having children. I have seen Miss Saigon, Grease,Phantom of the Opera,The sound Of Music, Lea Miserables, Cats,Beauty & the beast and there is a couple more but my mind went blank
  • Frouf, you sound SO much better! I'm glad you went last night. I think little white lies like that are just fine. The dinner sounds wonderful. I'm really hungry right now and I'm waiting for Jim to come home with our lunch.

Niki, you are the luckiest being able to see plays on Broadway. Chicago is not to shabby though. I've seen Les Mis, Showboat, Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Damn Yankees with Jerry Lewis who was fabulous, and most recently Wicked. I loved Damn Yankees but Wicked is by far my favorite. Jim gave me tickets for my birthday to go back and see it again. I'm looking forward to September 2nd.

Saundra, my fingers are crossed for a successful open house for your DS/DIL. I watch Sell This House. Is it a tough market? Are the RE Agents telling them what people are saying. Seems like something is going on. Maybe change a pink bedroom to beige or something easy like that? Anyway, two mortgages would not be fun so I'll hope for the best. Have fun with Natan!

Kathy, you are so tough on yourself. But, I'm sure that's why you are so successful on maintenance. I'm creeping back up and I need to stop. I never considered sending myself and email though!

Ok, Jim is home with lunch. I'm going to eat and then get on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I've decided to do 30 minutes instead of 40 but at a faster speed. On to the Fourth of July goal!
  • Hi all: Another day and is it raining and we have got a leak in the roof. It can not be fixed until the Fall, as they are all so busy.

Melisa the girls have sure been trying to help you find your perfect dress. Let us know what you decide on. You have many different stores in the U.S. then we do. I used to love to shop in the U.S. as the sizes are smaller then in Canada. lol

Have you Canadian girls heard of "The Briar's" in Sutton. dh is taking me there in Aug. for a couple of days. It is a lodge, I have never been there. Our friends are going and it sounded interesting. The package also includes live theatre and meals. It sound like it should be fun.

The news here has not been good. They have picked up terrorist in our GTA area. It has been on the news all morning. They had planned to destroy different buildings across southern Ontario.

Froufie, did you get the paper. I did and I can not figure out what I was to look for.

Hope Sandra is having a good time, she is such a fun person. I have known each other as cyber friends for quite a while.

As I said before excuse me if I don't address you all, I find it hard to keep up. I do read and get some good smiles out of some of your posts.
    Blue skies,
    Rose
  • Rose isn't it terrible we have to live with the fear of terrorism. My mom was evacuated from the subways two weeks ago because of a bomb threat thank goodness nothing happened. It makes me frightened to think about the world my children are growing up in.
  • Vickie did you see Last Comic standing, they had auditions in NY & Chicago.
OOH I would love to see Wicked, who is in that?
  • Rose, I caught the news last night, but haven't heard or watched anything today. What is our world coming to?

We went to the Briars a few years ago. It was lovely, and we also saw a play. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Vickie, I asked the kids the same thing about the feedback that they are getting on their place. It's in an area which has mostly retired couples, so it's a limited market and not a big city like Toronto. They just need the right fit, because it's really lovely and decorated to the nines. Another thing is there are three floors, which doesn't work for all "older" folks.

Kids called and are taking Natan with them, but requested my assistance tomorrow. Of course, I said "yes".
  • Hey gang,
Ive been out in the yard all morning..I came in to cool off and have a bite to eat..whew I was hot. Going to head to the hardware store this afternoon to buy some new paint for my front door. I want to surprise dh with it all painted by the time he comes home tomorrow night. (and its easier with only oneof us picking the color...ahahaha )
Fouf,,,haha your too funny!!!!!!!!! My face would have been so red you would have known in a minute I was lying.
Rose..terrorists?? hmm guess Il have to watch thenews more closely.
Saundra i have two floors and theres times I wish it was all on one level...heres hoping it goes soon.
Vickie have fun today.....find the veggie tray! theres always a veggie tray

I watched Crash my kitchen last night and there was a little boy who wouldnt eat veggies..so they reinvented new recipes to get him to eat. One of the recipes was a quesadilla made with very thin sliced potatoes instead of tortillas...potatoes are core! They used a very tiny amount of olive oil, thinly sliced potatoes in a circular pattern on the bottom. Then added some low fat cheese (could use ff) , added red peppers and turkey slices. Another topping of sliced potatoes. Heated them up on a stove top..flipped over and heated the other side. Finished them in the oven to melt the cheese. As a side topping they blitzed roasted red peppers in a blender... and sour cream with chopped mint in another dish. It was the kids favourite dish! Im trying it soon...
    have a great weekend everyne
  • Patti, you're lucky to be able to be in the garden today. It's miserable and very wet here.
  • It's bright and sunny and 76 degrees here, Saundra. A great day for a party in the yard.

Patti, that sounds like a good recipe. Would you perfect it for us?! I have a 3 step ranch house. I bought it for my old age. A small bedroom, the living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, laundry room and 3/4 bath are all on the first floor. Three bedrooms and 2 full baths are up 3 stairs. I LOVE my floor plan.

Niki, I didn't see Last Comic Standing. I'll look to see who was in Wicked tomorrow and let you know.

Rose, I heard about the terroists! I hope all our Canadian friends remain safe.

I'm off to the party now. I'll be back in the morning.
  • I haven't caught up but yes Kathy, you were right!! Great interpretation! My keys just got all crazy all of a sudden and I had to shut down the computer. Then we left and I forgot to come back and interpret for you all! Sorry about that!

I hope that you are all having wonderful Saturdays. We were very productive this morning; went to the Farmer's Market and then to the grocery store, then came home, ate a big lunch and got lazy. We are going to a concert tonight ( http://www.davidwilcox.com/index.php?page=home ), so I need to get ready!
  • Okay, so it's raining and very cool here and the forecast is predicting the same for the upcoming week. I'm not liking this, we have plans!

I marinated chicken thighs in Farm Boy's lemon garlic dressing and they are in the oven with the potatoes. Good smells happening.
  • We're back from errands and had a great time! Before we left I went to the store where they're having a big sale on drinks, and stocked up on Gatorade for Judd (10/$10), and a lot of Vitamin Water and Fuze for myself. They were also on the 10/$10 sale. I also got some FF cottage cheese and canned fruit so I can start having it for a snack. My regular store doesn't have any FF cottage cheese except for their brand (Walmart) and I don't like it as well as I do the name brands.

So then we went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants where I had about the equivalent of maybe 1/2 of a child's plate and a small margarita. I only had a few chips and salsa so that was good. Then went to Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. We decided on the glasses at C&B so went back to get them, plus some clear glass cereal bowls that will go with anything. We're probably changing out the everyday dishes from the cafe white to yellow Fiestaware but haven't completely decided. Meanwhile if we get clear glass extra pieces, they'll go with everything.

And then on to Nordstroms, where he exchanged three LS SmartCare shirts for three SS ones and got some socks. Exciting, huh? Then home! I just washed the glasses and bowls and put them in the cabinet, then boxed up our not-so-old-and-still-very-very-good other glasses, both tall and short, into the C&B box so that I can either give them to Kate or save them for Erin.

Now I'm going back to the store to get turkey and wheat buns so I can cook dinner later. I have ground turkey in the freezer but am in no mood to thaw it, plus we need buns and green onions for the burgers anyway. I'll heat up the LO pinto beans and make some corn cakes for myself and leave off the bun.

It sounds like everybody is having a good day! Enjoy your evenings and wish my Dallas Mavericks good luck tonight!
  • Oh and Saundra, you are welcome to come box up some of my 90-100 degree sunny weather. I'd welcome rain any day over this.
  • This is a really cool website, it is a live cam that is filming a Eagles nest with baby Eagles, I believe it is in British Columbia. It takes a few seconds to load.
